An efficient system to ban KSers

Videos are not going to make things easier, especially considering how fast paced this game is. You’re likely to get “kill stealed” dozens of times every hour. Assuming even a 100,000 player base. If every player reports every instance of kill stealing that’s going to be a lot of videos. Even if they’re all a minute in length (though longer would be better to determine if there is a problem or not), that’s potentially millions of minutes worth of video being created every day.

Now perhaps some people will not bother to report, it’s still going to be substantial. If 1% of that hypothetical population reports one person every hour that’s still nearly 17 hours worth of video being made every hour. It will take 17 gms just to break even on this issue using these small numbers.

If the population is bigger, more reports made, or longer videos to better confirm the stealing, it just gets much much worse.

This is what happens when the game has no PvP.

People cry about nonsenses… KS? Loot distribution? Annoying people? Ban them? (lol) If there was actual PvP, you could just fight over the spot, and if you lose you could come back with friends like a coward, or switch to another channel and try your luck.

I don’t really mean to harass people, but are they even reading themselves before sending the messages?
Ban people because they KS’d you… Well, if you are that hurt by your PvE experience, then change your class, get some skill useful to avoid being KS’d, if you only can avoid it by casting skills, then invest some points on SPR.
If the game allows the KS, so be it, start to KS people or grind on other places, swapping channels.

But it would be perfect if the game added an open PvP system and people could just beat eachother when they tilt instead of going to the forums asking an unreasonable ban for people that play by the rules the game has.

Also, if there was an open PvP system, people would invest some points into CON instead of going full glass cannon because of the easily avoidable attack patterns of most enemies that doesn’t cast magic.

PvP would just exacerbate the problem, you’d have level 500’s camping the beginning zones, seen it happen in plenty of other mmos. You’d have players reporting others for kill stealing their newbs.

Well, if they are level 500 and are not hunting where they should, they will just fall behind.

Not a lot of people goes out to annoy people once they get high level. They are a minority, and with the amount of channels we have, you could easily avoid them by swapping channels.

Also, there could be heavy penalties on PK, making high level people suffer a lot when they are caught, you know, destroying their items, losing a great amount of EXP, dropping stuff (i prefer destroying the stuff instead of dropping them)

The penalty could even change depending on your difference with the level of the zone, if you PK on a zone around your level, the penalty could be really low, but if there was a noticeable difference, then, and just then, you would lose your stuff, or get a painful debuff that makes you kinda useless during 24hs or so, and I say this by only thinking about it for two minutes, if the devs want to do something like this, they would have to think about it a little longer, and thus, improving the system.

Open PvP is always right when the system is smartly done.

Oh boy you must be new to this whole humanity thing. People will absolutely go out of their way to harm others. But this isn’t the right thread for this, start another and we can talk about it there.

The system just need to add a heavy penalty, and even make it profitable to other users to punish them if possible.

Everything can be solved easily if they add penalties. Have you heard about L2 Classic? It is really profitable to annoy people, if they die in PvE, they can drop their items, a lot of players try their best to make people die to monsters. I know a lot of annoying people, since i am one of them, since PvE can be quite easy, i tend to play with the users instead.

So, where am i going with this? In that game, when you PK, you can’t leave your state of PK easily, you have to grind for hours or die by other users, and if you die while in PK, you won’t only drop your stuff, but even have a chance to break them.

Serious penalties make people think twise before annoying other people. And they will still do it, because it’s fun, but it’s risky, and is also quite profitable to defend other users and make the PK drop their equipments.

As i said before, a serious system allows for better. And PvP is a must on almost every game in order to keep the annoying people at bay.

KSing is a part of the game and is intended. If you don’t like it, leave.

There was an interview with an IMC dev who explicitly said they’d already received a few complaints about KSing from previous betas but there were no plans to remove it from the game.

They should instead focus on making more areas to grind/farm in effectively so that higher levels returning to lower-leveled zones to grind isn’t a problem in the first place.

I guess you’re just reading what you want to read. I will not bother to quote some of my other comments, speak what you want, because I will not reply any comments like yours.
I don’t know why, but for some reason people here love to “suppose” nonsense.

And who do you think you are to speak like that? Leave? Are you the owner of this game or something? I CAN complain, I’m a beta tester and a suggesting something that I believe it’s the right thing to do to suppress people getting frustrated in this game.

Can you show me this interview? Not that I think you’re lying, but shallow statements are nothing.

ArcheAge had a good system to prevent this from happening. The loot/EXP went to whoever hit the mob first but if that person did not do much damage to it, then it will go to someone else. Basically stopping KSing while also preventing people from exploiting the first hit system to hog all mobs in a map.

That’s sort of what happens in this game, though. People who say that Killstealing exists are… doing something wrong. Probably in the skillbuilding more than anything, I’d imagine.

Not sure that would work here, archeage is (relatively speaking) a slower paced game. It wouldn’t be uncommon for a lower dps class to honestly begin attacking a mob when a much stronger class just runs by and one shots it easily. This could arguably be mitigated to some extent by proper balance, but would still be a problem with support classes.

Even then it doesn’t really solve the underlying problem. Being able to kill steal at all makes you usually view other players as competition, they are the enemies. If the devs want you to see anyone outside your friends list/party/guild as adversaries then fair enough. But I would argue that’s not the best way to go about it.

Only like 20% or lesser Clerics are going support class. Its just that pre-job change Monks and Paladin couldn’t dish out too much damage. Both could easily out damage any swordies or mages in the long run.

God dam it op stop be so lame and get a farming party of 5 people . i never have see more that 5 people at one farm point.later on there will be more chanels.if you want 2 ban ban ban people for no reson all day long go play lol.in lol you can report people for nothing and they will be baned after so time.you really want this game 2 be lol?

But now really op can you please give a video of you playing for like 30 min.then we can see the problem.

In case you can’t read Korean, I translated this when it released.

We think that party bosses should be hunted by parties as part of a ‘full’ MMORPG, and are deciding on how to deal with non-partied members will interact with them. Some considerations have been to make non-party members always miss, or just give everyone who participated rewards, or to base rewards depending on contribution. (To completely remove it is difficult according to the development team) We also think that occasional disagreement (in-game) and fighting over bosses are elements of MMORPGs.

KSing is part of the game. Deal with it.

Guild Wars 2 had the best way to solve this: If you do participate in the kill, you get the exp and loot. But I guess it was not like " just give a hit and get loot", you should do a little bit of damage too.
KSing here is not that big of a deal… When I did some damage to mobs and someone else gave the last hit, I did get loot anyway…
And exp wise, it’s even less of a problem, since grinding here in the beta is useless and you get tons of exp from mobs, quests and exp cards.
What I do agree is really an as***le move is when you gather mobs to AoE them and someone else comes and kill all of them…

I’m actually an heavy user of Ksing, stop believing everything belongs to you, monster belongs to nobody people Ks me i Ks people when you have to kill mobs for quest i’m not goin to wait for people to finish their quest, to start mine. In moselum first thing i did with my brother Krivis we went into a room where they were already a group and put two zaibas on the spot where the mobs spawned, everybody need to exp there’s not enough channel and the most important there’s no open world PvP. So you have to fight diferently for mobs spawn wich imply Ksing. So stop whining so much and play the game.

Banning people for Ksing Wth, How much a person must be full of itself to think of that…
