Almost Scared To Death

I was just doing some very basic maintenance while I was waiting for Tree of Savior to come out. Updating programs and drivers. Scanning for malware, viruses, etc. This led to me doing something bad. I did the most stupid thing I can possibly do… Using the “boot scan” on Avast.

I left it for dinner and came back to a red box that said “Secure boot violation” with the only option being “OK”. I kept getting stuck in a loop that sent me back to the ASUS UEFI Boot Utility.

Imagine knowing that everywhere is closed tomorrow; because it’s Good Friday, and you have to wait until Saturday. For help and you’re on a dead-line for Tuesday… aaannnddd you might lose all your data on your hard drive getting them to fix whatever you messed up. Seeing as you are computer illiterate and don’t know what’s going on.

I don’t know what I clicked on that finally got me to boot to my desktop and now everything seems fine. I’m just coming down from the adrenaline rush. Still feeling dread like you just escaped a nasty bit of danger.

Good God… People! Don’t use a boot time scan, if you don’t know what you’re doing!! :scream_cat: I’m waiting until after next week to take the computer in. I guess I’m going to have them look and assess the damage. I already have them ordering in a bigger fan on something unrelated. I just hope that I’m fine for Tuesday.

always have a back up. when you have a full backup of your system. those terrifying experience might feel like “meh”.

if you’re using a pc buy a second hard drive to back up everything.

I’d recommend surfright.nl’s hitman pro over avast any day.

I used to be a big Avast fan but I’ve steered my customers away from it as it’s become more and more bloaty.

Definately good advice. I always recommend that people use something like clonezilla to create a perfect backup of their original system configuration. If not that, at least a dropbox backup of their important data and a crash course lesson on installing their operating system and drivers in the event of a system failure.

i know right, those who did this and or create a back up like i did must be someone who has experienced hell.

i’ve experienced nightmares when we are talking about data and hard drives so. back up. always.

Can you just drop the weak act with all of your fake credentials etc. It’s really great that you write guides and stuff for games you have played, but you should stick to giving advice on things that you actually do know. You don’t work for DELL, and DELL has nothing to do with MBAM. Your lies and nonsense are just going to cause other people serious issues if they believe you, and all so you can protect some kind of precious fragile ego to make yourself feel smart.

Seriously, if you want to play pretend, by all means do it, but don’t be a con artist. I’ve read your posts on numerous forums and you’re always sprouting the exact same nonsense. You’re not helping people, you’re just lying to them and yourself and no good can come from this.

If you care so much about helping people, why don’t you actually read up on the subjects that you keep posting about (online security, hardware, etc) so you actually can help them instead of just lying to others and yourself?

Finally, Avast is a really good anti-virus. In fact it’s one of the best around, and Kaspersky is absolutely terrible. There are many reputable online sources that will corroborate this too. It’s fine for you to give your OPINION to other people but don’t lie to others like you’re some kind of professional.

Oh and secondly. MBAM is not an anti-virus. Comparing MBAM to Avast! and Kaspersky is like comparing Apples to Oranges.

Here comes your free reality check.

  1. Sending me the phone number for tech support in DELL doesn’t prove that you worked there. It just proves that you know how to do a google search or that you called DELL once yourself because you have no idea how to use a computer. Seriously man you are absolutely delusional.

  2. Your 'certificates from Motorola look completely fake, and I could make more convincing ones with my eyes closed. Did you make them in MSPaint or something? Look I just made my own in paint. Looks like I am ‘motorola certified’ now too!

  1. Wow you have an IQ of 144 huh but you can’t seem to write English properly eh? Always nice to see someone resort to talking about IQs. If your IQ is 144 then I guess mine is over 200 or something.

I don’t want to get into an argument with you but you NEED to drop this ridiculous act, it helps no one. Like I said, if you want to help people, actually spend time learning about computers and hardware instead of making ridiculous looking fake certificates in MSPaint in the hopes that people will take your seriously. People will take you seriously if the advice that you give them isn’t terrible and isn’t just you making guesses and Google searches for others. Does it really matter so much to you that you can convince a couple of kids that you worked for these companies? Seriously wake up from this crazy ego dream of yours. People go to University and work hard to learn and help others. Study hard and actually learn something legitimate instead of trying to soak your ego with fake certificates and lies.

I never understand why these kids spend so much time lying and trying to convince themselves and others of stuff like this. Especially when you can actually learn something about these subjects and then give people REAL advice that actually helps.

Anyway show me your CISCO and Microsoft certificates. My best friend is an electrician who IS actually CISCO certified so I know what the certification looks like. Or better yet, just wake up out of this dream whilst you’re young so you can actually start doing something constructive.

I think this has gone on long enough. I’m not saying who is wrong and who is right. I just think we need to stop.

@PrinceMark if you did score that high in a IQ test then you should not bother with someone who is using not his profile picture and real name in forum. He obviously tells you that you are pretending but in fact its the same thing he does.

@Cursewords you did misunderstood his post big time. i think he just wanted to help. I guess you have a grudge against him thats why you act hostile.

Drosser better check the post settings since you are the OP.

How do I do this?

Dude your madness is bordering on psychosis and you need to wake up out of this dream of yours where you think that knowledge can be photoshopped and that knowing how to Google makes you some kind of genius. It takes a real idiot to bring IQ scores into an argument. Like I said, it’s all very well and nice if you want to live in fantasy land and pretend that you’re really knowledgeable when you haven’t even gone to University or actually learned from someone who is smarter than you. But when you start sprouting off nonsense and disrespecting people who actually work their butts off to learn actual factual information so they can help others, just so you can continue to live some pathetic dream about how amazingly intelligent you think you are and how much you can help others. Please, don’t make me sick. By all means pretend, but do it to yourself where you aren’t giving false information and are lying to others in order to make yourself feel more important.

Wow there are some stupid people in the forums here. Why should I use my real name and picture? It’s just an alias. We all need one on the internet, this guy chose “PrinceMark” pukes and I chose mine. Even if he wanted to help, he’s not helping by giving falsified information, and then covering up his lack of actual knowledge with just more lies and pathetic attempts at changing the subject. There are milions of people in this world who work really hard to actually learn things, and then there are ignorant and delusional souls like this guy who spend all day building up a false ego and Google searching for others, and calling their opinions some kind of ‘facts’ or whatever.

It’s one thing to say that “I think this anti-virus is bad”. It’s another to say that you represent(ed) DELL and that they have some ludicrous statement about what is ‘good’ or bad. Obviously he knows that he lacks any knowledge and that’s why he builds himself around these lies because he wants to be taken seriously. Why don’t you actually just dedicate yourself to learning like the rest of us so you CAN help people? Instead of lying to yourself and everyone else?

I can write up a bunch of words too like “G.E.N.I.U.S CERTIFIED” but in the end what’s the point if the information I give to people is just my opinion backed up by nothing but lies about my technical background? It helps no one, and does nothing constuctive. Actually you end up hurting others and causing them problems because they take your bad advice which is backed up by nothing but lies.

Wake up the both of you.

Anyway I have nothing further to say and I think Mark has got the point. OP has already told me that he’s spotted a loon anyway. I hope sometime soon he directs some of that ‘ego energy’ of his into actually learning something useful so he can help other people out. Instead of thinking that a bit of anecdotal evidence and Google make him some kind of ‘genius’ with an IQ of 144. Heck I bet he googled ‘What is a high IQ?’ before even telling us what he thinks his IQ is.

did you hear that sounds of cracking? yeah?
if you do that’s the sound of you wrecking PrinceWannabe
