⏰ "Daily Quests have had a questionable impact on player enjoyment in other games. Becomes a chore instead of fun."

Additional input from others:

“Daily quests are just used to keep you addicted and coming back every day.” - gorginhanson

Also, keep you amidst all the negative aspects of the game.

“I find myself thinking ‘i need to do my missions’ instead of ‘oh let’s go have some fun’” - lorim

Truth.

Just something to ponder on (discuss?) especially with how TOS is developing. I know RL is in a different genre but the concept of daily quests remains the same.

Dailies do have some pros though. Casuals for example can run dungeons and missions with the limited time they have to at least get some exp and silver. The problem, especially with low-populated servers, is the queue time.

Also, dailies alone will NEVER be enough to reach “average” in this game. At various points, you will always need to either quest, grind or both - and if you don’t want to be left behind doing some dailies like Saalus (for the shards) becomes mandatory.

Hurrdurr, git gud. TOS hardcore.

I guess. Not gonna disagree with that.

You gotta wonder though: if a game would just improve/fix/rework existing content first (both dailies and non-) especially with the known issues instead of piling up on more dailies, wouldn’t it be more fun and less chore moving forward?

EDIT: By “dailies” AKA Daily Quests I mean all in-game content that resets everyday e.g. events, dungeons, missions, quests, etc. This includes Saalus, Uphill, E.T., Merc Post, etc.

its just a way to get free exp
you dont have to do daily if you already 280
but honestly its still less rewarding with only level 9 exp card

I’m only doing Siauliai missions everyday because the other dungeon queues are too random or slow…and i hate grinding mobs. Having daily quest isnt too bad but…somehow the fun dies out when the bosses are so good at knocking player down…each 5 secs knockdown feels like eternal…

A big turn off for dailies for me is the lack of scaling on the EXP cards.A bit past level 200,there is no reason you should still be getting level 9 cards. It needs to move up appropriately to stay rewarding, and it’d be an easy fix for a regular dev team.

Daily quest is always a chore in each and every single game existed, you got to do what you got to do to get what you wanted (a good chore), …just like work! haha. But yeah, …I don’t like the fact that we get lv9 cards only. Also I don’t like the fact that people only do Siauliai mission, and yes I know its the fastest …but, it kills the fun to do stuff together.

I hate all kinds of dailies (including dungeons and missions too here)… it burns me out quickly…

…and it is a lot lot worse that a lot of times I have to wait a lot to get in a dungeon or mission…

I wish they would change it and let me feel like I can do whatever I want…but I guess it won’t happen…

Sure casual. You heard that endless-grind-fest-to-max-level-game? What a lie.

This is the real problem guys…too repeatable…is not enjoyable…

What else do you expect? Its the same in other games. Developer, and most players don’t want levelling to be too easy, on the same time dislike heavy grind. The daily quest itself is fine. I don’t think the exp is too little/much. The only thing that makes it boring is the fact that we can ‘choose certain daily quest’ and totally ignoring the other daily quests. It will be much more fun…atleast for a while if the daily quests are random everyday(every players at a certain level range have the same quests) and has no selection, so that every players can do the same thing together. Its kinda similar to our current situation where most people only do Siauliai mission, just that it will now force people to do other missions.

Daily quests are never fun. That includes any type of game out there. Sure it’s cool and nice to have something new everyday to do or whatever they go about it, but it ends up being repetitive later anyways.

Daily quests are just that. They are a thing a player needs to do daily. Daily things in real life aren’t exactly fun you know.

The dungeon instances can use a different map templates(grassy fields/jungles/forest/temples/ruins/caves etc.) each run, while missions different multiple objectives on different days.
What about the C.mines ores drops for those who daily farm those?
Fck them, nah just kidding, make em’ drop on a higher rate, each mission will let mobs drops different ores.

tbqh, I wanna try the other missions too, but looking for parties/members willing to try something different in this declining population that only filled with meta players that wants efficient grind is impossible.

(eventhough i quit… i believe a better system would be open map/dungeon without entry-restrictions

if i wanna spend whole month farming something, i should be allowed to do so. Dont limit my freedom with a daily bs. My real life schedule isnt so flexible i can login daily 6pm to 12midnight just to queue with people.

Life is hard enough with the RNG, IMC still wanna make it harder by restricting entry.)

  • the servers are so low populated its a freaking miracle if you finnish fedimian missions in less then 2 hours…

To be frank, I think repeatable quests should just allow you to pick how much of the quest you want to complete.

ie, Player picks 1/5 and can do 1/5 and be done with it
Player picks 5/5 and does 5/5 things worth of stuff and gets more exp cards.

But needless to say, there might as well not be a choice because of how often people are going to pick 5/5 rather that 1/5 because it can give you more cards.

I think the annoying part is going back to the same guy to take the same quest and repeat again.

Daily repeatables. Give all five quests at once so player can go out and complete all five and go back to fedimian to receive 5 exp cards rather that go back and forth 5 times without even a return to quest giver teleportation.
This is really annoying.

I have 10 characters and i usually only do the dailys on maybe 2 of them a day. Sometimes not at all if i dont feel like it, but on occasion ill do a bunch of runs on them if im trying to get an item.

What im getting at, for me, the dailys and limits dont bother me. If i was a one character kind of guy i could see it becoming a problem and feeling like a chore… but i dont feel like this game was meant to be played with only one character.

Also i dont even do the dailys that give you 1xp card. They feel like a waste of time. Im talking more of dungeon runs and missions. Ill talk to the guy occasionally and if he wants items i already have in inventory then thats cool.

For the ones who it does feel like a chore… if there was no limit would you do more or less? would you only do one thing all day and ignore the others? This would hurt que times even more and be boring. Would you mind if people had max transcendence items in a week leaving you in the dust? How about you get the rare thing from a cube, but its kind of worthless since people farmed a crazy amount of them? or if people farmed 10mil silver a day from dungeons when you dont have the time to? Dailies help casual players and ones who cant log in often more than anything.

There are much more satisfying ways to spend my time (aka portions of my life that I choose to give freely) than logging in to do something just because I’m told I have to (or am compelled to simply because of the threat against progress).

I picked up Battlerite and have been having so much more fun than I do logging in to TOS to make sure I do some stupid mission a hundred different times. Does that set me back in TOS? Yeah… but it shouldn’t. This isn’t some rare drop we’re talking about where you may have to run a dungeon a hundred times just in hopes of getting an item but is instead something that is nearly forced upon you to complete hundreds of times just to stay relevant.

It’s poor design at best, and ALL missions and dungeons should give a chance at shards, and those numbers should be increased, that way players can be rewarded for playing the game, rather than be forced into completing a specific set of chores on a daily basis.
