[After PATCH] Crit rate equipment guide

I have a corsair3 too (sw3-p1-c3-shinobi), I use it mainly for farming, but I’ve yet to see a video with actual numbers from C3 skills on crit.
It’s too soon to judge, it really depends on how much corsair skills are affected by crit attack (so, damage gain on crit).

For that reason, at the moment I have to agree with @celexample: the gems haven’t been upgraded at all, so red/blue add very little on end game weapons.

So, unless they buff gems or nerf the overall impact that weapon damage have on damage dealt, socketing green gems seems more reasonable.

Logarithmic systems aren’t intuitive unless you have used them alot, they are very rare in games partially for this reason.

The reason this is important, is that it punishes heavy investment, and rewards minimal investment.

If you use lunar rabbits charts, you see that just 165 crit resist drastically cuts your crit chance. So, if you care about pvp, an Aias shield alone will drop your crit chance by at least 5%, if not more. If you double down on crit chance and start stacking yellow damage gems and dex, you run a big risk in that you will do no damage.

All this is even more important on the PVE side, as we don’t know yet how much crit resist will ramp up, if it stays, and if it will vary. Knowing that people can only realistically hit about 700 or so crit rate, you find yourself on a dangerously steep part of the curve, so you can find wild fluctuations on your output with minimal resistance.

No reason to cry about money spent on attributes. After the rebalance, all the money spent on the attributes will return to you in the form of new special currency (attribute points or something like this).

Correct, but PVP is going to be rebalanced separately, so trying to prepare for that before the overhaul is almost impossible. But still, you are correct about the build seemingly being weak in PVP right now.

Well we do, because CRIT RES is exactly the same as natural CRIT Rate, level/2. IMC’s intention is to create gear that counters the curve, presumably as it increases with new content.

I’m not saying CRIT will be as viable, I’m pretty sceptical and I’m not sure IMC’s done a good job balancing it as a primary source of damage. The point is avoiding attempting to claim a clear answer before we’ve even calculated it, and when release is two months out.

That’s been my point all along. I’m extremely skeptical, and very against putting all eggs in one basket.

Especially since, if what you say is true about mobs actually getting crit resist again based on level, instead of it just being removed, it makes yellow gems and dex worth even less.

so is it best to use red gem instead?

Whether you use red or green gems is probably down to your attack damage without gems. My big concern is still that it looks like DEX is going to be very situational, primarily used for attack speed rather than crit attack. Feels like they should’ve just added an agility stat and emphasized crit attack more on DEX. Not even sure if I’m going DEX on my Rogue3 now.

The entire point of the changes is discouraging FULL STAT builds, we only have to figure the best balance out of STR/CON/DEX

Ex:

STR gives steady higher damage, but Some really strong debuffs got nerfed in duration (Armor break from HL/Peltasta for example) so you may get more bang for your buck by having a faster burst.

I don’t see a single reason why you wouldn’t go full STR if you don’t need attack speed.

We were discussing this on KTOS thread:

Still on our Swordman character. If you pick HL DEX is more enticing because Moulinet,Skyliner are affected by ASPD and you get the Two Handed CRITAtk attribute. If you end going Fencer, you lose the Two Hander but 4 Fencer skills are affected by aspd.Corsair more common attack skills are affected by ASPD,and you also get DWA

If you go Barb, there not much going for ASPD on it’s skills,so STR/CON is more enticing, Doppel skills also don’t benefit from ASPD it seems.

I love how complicated this is for physical DPS to try and balance stats, then for Wizard and Clerics its braindead easy. More so for Wizard.

I mean we got

  • Crit rate
  • Block penetration
  • Accuracy
  • Evasion
  • Critical Attack
  • Critical resist
  • Best combination of survivability and damage
  • Armor penetration / mitigation
  • What gems
  • Attack speed modifications

Wizards just worry about:

  • M.atk / INT
  • Health

hehehehehe, just wanted to point that out

Another reason why they should’ve just added an agility stat. Evasion and cast speed for cleric/wizards.

Still waiting on that luck stat to boost reroll chances and drop rates.

Corsair open chest skill should give you more cube rerolls instead. Corsair deserves all of the loot.

With the current log calculation, there’s actually no reason to not just go full Str.

If previously Dex’s crit rate was giving constant % increases because the higher your crit rate the more consistent your crit was.
The current calculation gives Str % damage that grows the higher the enemy’s defense is.

Just quoting the number from their pt1 dossier.
1000 atk vs 3000 atk
0 def - 1000 damage vs 3000 damage, so ‘normal’ 1:3
500 def - 437 vs 2144, almost 5 times the damage
then the extreme value at 4000 - 123 vs 761, or over 6 times the damage

Of course in practice with weapon/level as well the difference in attack power won’t be as high, but Str still have that little % scaling edge.

If IMC were to make the log calculation includes crit attack (on crit of course) as well…

Magic classes may look braindead easy and powerful but physical classes have the highest potantial.

Its best to start thinking crit as a bonus and not a “cheesy mechanic” that instantly multiplies your damage. Physical classes already have ■■■■ ton of debuffs to multiply your damage. Before some1 says it is extreamly easy to have sufficient accuracy and block pen for pve.

Personally as both a dragoon and a warlock player I should say now that the quickcast attribute is gone and crit is not as easy to get, game will be a lot more balanced.

How 'bout free rerolls?

It’s a 15 level skill so I’m not sure how that would work. 1 free reroll per day per level or something? I’d probably just put 4 points into it for the 1.2mil free silver per day from blessed shard cubes, since most other cubes are having reroll costs reduced. Maybe a couple more points for the occasional world boss cube. Honestly seems pretty OP just off of blessed shards.

There’s a reason, the same as before the Changes.

Trans makes STR less worth every stage.

That’s where ASPD comes into play. Back to the Highlander, as long as Dex can also reach damage cap, the difference in skill rotation for APSD eventually wins over.

True, but the question is does the new Dex keeps up?

Let’s say guy A have 2000 attack without any stat included, and the enemy have 1000 defense.
Normally his log bit would put out ~0.437
And let’s say the total attack you get from full Str is 800
The log now put out ~0.515

So on top of that 40% gains from 2000 to 2800, his attacks also do about 20% more damage compare to someone with only 2000 attack and lots of Dex. Meaning that 800 attack actually upped his damage by about 68%

Then let’s say he upgrade his gear and have 4000 attack before Str, same 1000 defense target.
Without the Str the log modifier is 0.605
With Str it’s 0.653, or about 8% more

So it’s 1.2 * 1.08 ~ 1.3 i.e. 30% damage increases at this point.

So in your opinion, does getting all those Dex gets you 30% damage increases?
