Advice on skills needed for A1 -> R1 -> A3 (Link to build inside)

Hi guys, need some advice from more experienced archers.

I’m thinking of something like the above build, let me know what you guys think about it?
Thanks in advance.

A1

  1. Swift Step 5, Multi Shot 5, Oblique Shot 1 (For obvious reason)

R1

  1. Barrage 5 (Current)
  2. Critical Shot 3 (Current)
  3. Steady Aim (Is it useful at only lv5? Since I might not go for R2)
  4. High Anchoring (Useful?)

A3

  1. Swift Step 9 (For perma buff after extra CD from attribute)
  2. Multi Shot 15 (For the insane dmg?)
  3. Oblique Shot 5 (Since dmg is too low on Lv1?)
  4. Full Draw 7 (I heard you get Lv insta cast when its at Lv7, is this really useful?)
  5. Heavy Shot 1 (Not sure how useful is this skill… should i up more?)

oblique shot 1 is enough dmg you gain isn’t much and cost you more SP. put those left over point to swftstep

steady aim is useful

at this lv there aren’t much advice people can give to you, Tell us your plan in higher rank which path do you want to go?

High Anchoring is not good at all. 0 skill point
Steady Aim lvl 5: 10 sec for 10% damage for all missile type skill
yes get that even not going R2
A1 try get Full Draw. it hidden effect is Linker Joint Penalty if the enemy that get hit by full draw hit another enemy. good when in dungeon

Swift step 9 = It’s ok. If you’re going for a higher dex to str ratio though, you might get more from the skill by maxing it (+20% evasion).

Multi shot 15 = can’t go wrong with it if you go A3, but make sure it synergizes with your R5 to R7 picks (e.g. great with Falconer’s circling, can cast while under Scout’s Cloaking +50% damage, etc.)

Full draw 7 = It’s good. The knockback and skew effects are great for PVP, and a life saver for PVE, and don’t forget the -50% def debuff it inflicts on the target.

Oblique = leave it at 1. The damage increase isn’t worth the mana cost, and you’ll be using this at higher levels mostly to slow down enemies.

Kneeling = you can drop your spare skill points here, or put it at 1, or none at all. Don’t pick it up if you plan to go SR (unless you intend to use a skill reset potion later on).

Heavy shot = good to have at 1 or none at all, depending on your playstyle. Might useful as a knockback skill while Full draw is on CD.

Twin arrows 5 = great burst damage, single target skill.

As for the Ranger skills, sorry can’t comment on them.

Sauce: Lv.159 A3++ here

Hmm Oblique 1 even at higher levels? I’m keeping it at Lv1 currently, but was thinking that i might need it to be Lv5 in the future.
Swift step at lv9 is not high enough? @_@

I originally wanted to go fletcher, but having to use special arrow on every skill seems like a pain. So as of now I’m not really fixed on a path yet.

Probably… Archer 3, Ranger 1, Scout 1, SR 2? (Not sure if its worth giving up rank 7 classes for)

Thanks Korisuu & Biskee for the response (No idea how to quote multiple replies in 1 post, going to reply both of you here instead of replying twice)

@Kirosuu Thanks for the hidden effect info! Didnt know about that.

@Biskee Looking at all your recommendations, seems like i will save a lot of points if Heavy shot and Oblique only need to be at Lv1.
This is what i have now. 1 point into Kneeling as I have no idea where else to put it. haha

You need around 11-12 points for perma Swift Step because of the extra CD from the attribute.

Steady Aim at level 5 is very useful, sets you up for that burst nicely

Multishot 15 and Twin Arrows 5 are mandatory.

Oblique should be kept at level 1, period. It scales with your weapon damage, strength, and attributes, so you dont need extra skill levels in it. Keep it at 1 to maximize your damage:SP cost ratio.

Full Draw is actually really useful, go for it.

Exactly same build as my A3  , though if you’ve already decided to go SR soon, don’t pickup Kneeling and put that 1 point to use somewhere else, maybe on Full Draw or Heavy Shot.

Also FYI when deciding for later ranks then going SR:

Archer Tree

Skills which can only be used whilst mounted:

  • Schwarzer Reiter - All skills are only usable whilst mounted.
  • Also note all Schwarzer Reiter skills require a Pistol to be equipped.

Skills which cannot be used whilst mounted:

  • Archer - Kneeling Shot
  • Quarrel Shooter - Deploy Pavise, Stone Picking, Teardown, Running Shot.
  • Sapper - All Sapper skills are unusable whilst mounted.
  • Hunter - All Hunter skills are unusable whilst mounted.
  • Wugushi - Throw Gu Pot, Jincan Gu.
  • Scout - Camouflage, Cloaking, Undistance.
  • Rogue - Feint, Capture, Vendetta, Lachrymator, Burrow, Backstab.
  • Falconer - All Falconer skills are unusable whilst mounted.

Skills which can be used whilst both mounted and unmounted:

  • All other skills which have not been mentioned can be used both mounted and unmounted.

Also note the datamined skills ‘Arrow Sprinkle’ for Ranger cannot be used whilst mounted, and ‘Be Prepared’ for Scout can be used whilst mounted.

Skill build looks pretty decent.

As for ranger, max barrage and steady aim, 1 point in crit shot and the rest u can put it into high anchoring but u might not use it.

@ sudonim7 Thanks for the advice

@Biskee I’m actually looking at SR because i dont know what else i can choose from A3 R1 (really want multishot 15 XD).
But aiks. no cloaking while mounted?? So Scout is basically useless if i go SR?

@satoshixsin My critical shot is already at lv3… :sob:

Yeah, unfortunately, coz the total movespeed bonus on that would be a bit OP I think.

if you’re going for fletcher you can craft arrow youself the price isn’t too expensive, but you need a load of sp potion

SR as people mention in those SR thread there’re limitation of some skill while mount(but archer ranger can goes well with SR except you can’t kneeling shot) and some people don’t satisfy with SR skill. I think you may want to look into some information if you want to play less popular class like hunter sapper SR

@Biskee :disappointed: what do you think about something like…
Archer3, Ranger 1, Fletcher 2, Musketeer?
(edit 1) wait… musketeer uses rifle… does that mean i cant use most of my other skills?

@frontler hmm but is the crafting time long? I actually really wanted fletcher, but got turned down by the requirement of special arrow + time needed to craft + extra weight from carrying craft mats

That’s where weapon switching comes in.

Also, I hear if you go Fletcher2, Fletcher3 for R7 is too good to pass, and I think the skills for the class doesn’t synergize well with multishot as you’ll be doing more damage spamming Fletcher skills than charging multishot.

Have considered scout1 rogue1 for utility considering taking musket later on? Might make your ranger pick a waste though.

How about ranger2 falconer1 for more AoE?

@Biskee yeah… you have a point there. guess i’ll just forget about fletcher.

Exactly! The more i read, the more i feel like i did a mistake getting ranger 1. Although it really helps a lot during leveling.

I’m currently thinking of (with A3 + R1 as base)…

  1. R2 -> SR2 (The mobility on SR seems fun :grinning:)
  2. R3 -> Musketeer
  3. Scout1 -> Falconer1 -> Cannoneer

I’m not really sure how falconer works actually.
But i notice most of his skills are very short duration with long CD?
And it seems to me that Circling is the only useful skill (no idea how much of a difference it make at only Lv5: AOE def ratio -5)

Current falconer is mostly for circling( but to make this work well you need allies who can aggro or pull enemies into group) reduce aoe 4-5 are enough for most mob.
Hovering- doesn’t deal dmg but can kick target enemy(but those that resist knock back don’t get kicked) and make the target fall. This skill can use as minor additional dmg and random little cc.
Pheasant- dmg is decent the describtion doesn’t show aoe ratio but from my experience this hit every enemie in aoe, you can use as another aoe skill, but this skill kick enemies too so this’ll end aoe combo with your team.
Call - a must skill for all falconer because the falcon always goes off after use other skills and if you use skill those skill without the falcon you lose sp and cd

As one of people who use falconer I think falconer I think the skill is troublesome to use, but if you can use the skill combo with other class in your build or with your party it is good.

@frontler This is what i came up with after including falconer.
But im a little worried that i might lack AOE, as ranger is only at c1.
Should i go ranger c2 instead of Scout?

Not really sure what to choose for Musketeer as well, but the 3 i chose seems to be the more popular choice. Although im wondering should i take out 1~2 points each and put them into Penetration shot.

if you want this char to go pvp scout1 should be taken if you plan this char for pve scout1 isn’t need
