I want to post dank memes for the updoots, but that would just be following the bandwagon.

Things like this happens when a forum’s comments are sorted by post date. You basically have to read everything to get in on the conversation, which will lead to reading more opinions, which will result in the disagreements. The “View summary” feature that just shows the most liked posts is a much superior post sorting system since you feel more free to skip the less… uh… productive comments.

If view summary were the default sorting system, and chronological were secondary, then there would be fewer fights, since they would be hidden farther down the page. Unless, that is what the people are ‘liking’.
