About Server Wipes

Continuing the discussion from It is open beta or not? come here to find out:

Some people are laboring under the misconception that there was no official announcement about whether or not there would be data wipes of the Founder’s Servers

However, anyone who followed the updates weeks (and by followed, I mean actually read the announcement thoroughly for themselves) preceding the launch of the Founder’s server would know that IMC and staff stated quite a few times that there would be no data wipe.

I don’t have time to find them all but here an example of one:

For those who are still too lazy to read more than 2 paragraphs, please scroll down to the bottom of this announcement where it mentions March 16th updates.

While IMC could wipe data at the last minute if they wanted to, it is untrue that they did not promise keeping our current data. Stop spreading lies and trying to cause unnecessary panic before anything even happens.

Happy Founders Playing

No data wipes when OBT starts…

Players were worried that if they play the EA, when OBT start they would lose everything. Staff just inform them that isn’t the case and they will keep their stuff when they launch OBT.

Nothing says that they won’t wipe if some major bug/exploit comes out.

Please stop spreading misinformation.

The discussion isn’t important either way - it stems from the assumption that an exploit is either going to be ignored or it is incurable. Until something irreversible or something that makes the game unplayable occurs, the wipe talk is just bait for unproductive flaming, a debate on the semantics of words, and speculation.
