About leveling in itos. Has it improved with the last changes?

Well, since that imc have added new quests, I have decided to start a new character and check how it affected the game experience in the starter levels, for now I just realised that now you can level with more freedom to choose your route, something that wasn’t possible before these changes.
In my first character I had to follow a walktrough that contained the best route for you not get stucked. This time I haven’t followed any tutorial, I just made the quests in map that I enjoyed, and the results are shown below:

Summarizing: I’m level 139, I had jumped a lot chain quests as you can see, and some maps too. I’m doing quests in maps for level (115~120), (however I already did quests in some maps for level 120~130).

I haven’t reached level 180 yet to share how difficult was to pass trough that grinding wall, but as soon as I reach there, I will tell how hard/easy it was. So how these recent changes have affected your gaming experience? It improved/worsened? I think that opinion of high level players are very important, because imc can make the correct choices to make the game less repetitive and boring.

Regardless of the quests they’ve added it’s still technically the same routes and on top of that there still aren’t enough cards in the proper areas for you to pass the 165-186 area unless you still grind out levels. I was stuck in those levels around the time the patch with new quests came out and I only gained about 2-4 levels from the new quests. I still had to rely on Fedi and kill counts to get that character out.

Get the BetterQuest addon and just do all the quests from top to bottom while completing kill counts (if the monster is easy for you) and map explorations. Do the dungeons around your level and daily fedimian missions and quests (3 x Siauliai Mission, 5 x merc post daily quest - gives lv.9 exp cards per quest). Having a token helps.

I’m currently playing a PVP-built Sw3 Cata3 Goon1 so PVE is kind of a challenge and finding grind parties who want me is almost impossible. I’m current base lv.253, job lv.10 but have enough cards to get my job level to 14 (I’m aiming for job lv.15) and have never grinded.

I still have some quests left to do from lv.258 so it’s kind of a gap at the moment but I’m not in a hurry. I can still do the 240 dungeon and fed merc post dailies until I reach that level (doing them at this point is kinda hard due to my build, pisspoor equipment this being my only highlevel char, and the gap makes the monsters hit stronger).

I simply cant get people stucked before 260.

I did 3 characters without grind till 248 and all of them without doing Orsha ever. Not a single quest.
My Necro is 276 now and I didnt all Klaipeda quests D:

Probably due to not having enough playing time to complete dailies and/or having a build that’s a challenge to go solo even when questing.

Then this may be the point. People should always do the dailys before the quests. I understand guys who Rush lvl 200 in 2 days and dont have enought cards, cuz they dont do dailys, but “normal” players should do it to keep the lvl up to the maps.

Yes. At level 240, I need about 3 hours or less (that includes the waiting on queues which is longer on wee hours when I usually play) to complete my dailies and still have some time to clear 1 or 2 maps of quests, kill counts (if I can) and exploration.

My current dailies include:

  • 3 x 240 dungeon (inner enciente district) <— even if exp is getting smaller, the silver is still very nice and it’s still nice to get the Virtov gloves by chance to complete my set
  • 2 x Saalus mission (saalus convent)
  • 2 x Uphill mission (saalus convent) <— I rarely get to do this due to not enough people (only 270+ usually do this)
  • 3 x Siauliai or Crystal Mine mission (fedimian merc post)
  • 5 x Fedimian merc post daily quest

The dailies kinda feels repetitive but going back to questing afterwards gives me a break from them (it’s becoming sort of like a reward for me for completing the dailies).

Only updating. I have reached level 168 yesterday, and I still have the problem with the grindwall, so I’m using my reset dungeons to make mercenary and level faster. (consider that I jumped some maps, and didn’t explore too, because thats my 3rd char and I’m bored of doing the same route over and over again.) So my conclusion is: with the addition of new quests it is faster to leveling in the early levels 1~160. But later we still have the same problem with the lack of quests between levels 170~186, that makes you pass some days leveling 1 or 2 levels in max, if you don’t grind.

never had a problem with this level range. I milked the 145 dungeon until i reach around 160~165 and resume to doing quests til 190. That was before they added more level 5 & 6 exp cards so that means you can grind 145 less than before

Well, I failed to mention that I had only ever done quests up to that point. Questing at that point felt it had started to get harder and my character wasn’t keeping up with the levels of the maps I was having to go to do continue questing.

Honestly, having been through Ale and Evac at this point now, the time I spent getting through the “grind wall” at that level doesn’t even feel like it was much of a chore or time waster now, even with the way I got through it.

I still think they should have added to the 130-170 range of quests. The pre-100 quests they added are pretty pointless. Especially since 50 dungeon can easily get you 20 or more levels.

yup. i’d even suggest that they remove some of the quest lines and maps since we could use some extra channels in grinding maps.

I quested my way to Rank7 without doing any grinding at all. I don’t know how you can get yourself stuck in that grinding wall.

As someone said here, use the betterquest add on for you not to miss any quests on certain maps.

Can you quest all the way to Rank 7 without doing anything but the quests? No dungeons, no missions, no grinding, no dalies, because I didn’t do any of that up to the point where I got “stuck”.

I only did dungeons and merc (dailies) but yea, you can technically quest your way up to rank7, No grinding. I turned rank 7 on Cranto coast. I made sure to 100% all maps from Klaipeda and up. I did some Orsha quests too, i started at level 5 exp card and up.

actually, a larger portion of your leveling hours is spent post-rank 7. leveling from 1-225~ feels shorter than leveling from 220+ to 280

Yeah. I mean I’ve skipped a lot of quests on my 178 Alchemist because I had already done them with another character and it was boring so I just grinded and did my dailies and it was also boring cause I couldn’t actually enjoy the game. I recently catching up with the quests now and honestly it feels like it’s not enough to break through the 170~183 mark. It takes really long.

They should probably think about giving exp for each quest you do plus cards for you to save for big exp gaps like right before Exp curve resets.

I think I’m having a bit of fun now because I just recently came back to the game so doing stuff I’ve already done doesn’t feel as bad as it looks. But honestly I don’t want to reach the part where I have to grind…
