A2-R1-SC1 -> Fletcher 3 or Fletcher 2 and Falconer -> Mergen

So, this question is bugging me since i started my Archer. What you ladys/gents think about it ?

Fletcher3:

  • Got that nice ST Magic Arrow which is dealing a ton of damage
  • DMA ? I cant tell if its good. From the Vid it looks like it has a Knockback, which is in general hated by Players
  • Higher Bleed
  • Higher Crossfire, player hate this skill if i look around the Archer forum. I cant agree or disagree, its okayish.

Falconer:

  • Little bit of control for PvP
  • Circling, good for partying, imo and has hopefully synergies with Mergen Skills

Big contra:
No real R7 class. Fletcher3 damage is on R7 class, which means its designed for for 230+. Falconer is a R6 class (designed for 175-230), ive the fear, that i going to lack damage until Mergen.

So, if i go for Mergen, DMA and Crossfire essentially becomes useless, since all my skill gonna be good AoE’s, which gives me only the pro’s of those stackable dots (MA, Bleed) and -phys% def arrow.While i can get those dots to a certain degree with Fletcher 2, Falconer would give me better options overall, with Circling and that little bit of control with Hovering.

you wont be relying too much on the rank 7 class in 230 - 280… you would still be doing your usual rotation so don’t worry about choosing rank 6 class @ R7.

I don’t think falconer 1 is worth taking over fletcher3. falconer only brings circling to the table and taking 1 rank for that 1 skill is a waste plus it would use 1 character slot for falcon.

fletcher 3 > mergen is good enough aoe that you wont need to rely on circling…

Fletcher 3. This is an all or nothin class.

If you want to go with falconer you have to pick other class to fill in the gap instead of flecther. You can take a look at wugu.

“Since i started my char” = Started on Sunday, im already fletcher1 (20 more levels for R6), so Wugu wouldn’t be an option anymore :wink:

the moment you went fletcher 1, you were already locked into fletcher 3, otherwise you would be gimping your build. (doesn’t matter tho if ur not the meta min maxing type)

Well, meta or not, A2-R1-Sc1 are obvious choices, since they boosts your base damage + giving you a lot of utility. I cant imagine the pain doing 240 + quests without hide, lol. Since i gonna use a bow (and i am to lazy to switch to a xbow) QS wasnt an option over A2. Sapper and its traps are just not a playstile i enjoy…so it only could’ve been A2-R1-Sc1

I have 3 wizzys (263,253,231) all with CC (Frost Pillar+Ele3, Wi3Kino3RC, ChronoLinker). So not taking Scout seems to be stupid to me, since those mobs hitting like trucks… :wink:

What about skill distri?
Bleed Max 15
MA Max 10
Crossfire 15 (the only AoE, since i prolly wont use DMA, Knockback sux too much)
DMA 3
Armor Penetration 2

We can discuss about the Bleed on 15, but its one of the skill that will be usable after taking Mergen (just for ST). Crossfire and Armor Pen are dealing similiar damages at 15, so for skill spam i could just use CF. Not maxing MA seems to be out of discussion as well; its just too much damage to pass. Not gonna use DMA and its Knockback too much, its just too bad for grinding.

No matter what anyone tells you, there is no telling which of the two options will be better until Mergen is tested with Falconer.

I currently have an Archer2 Sapper2 Fletcher2 waiting for R8 to decide on Falc or Fletch3 for R7.

You are NOT locked into Fletch3, don’t listen to anyone who tells you otherwise.

I have a bit time till R7, so maybe there are some more infos available then. But thanks, i dont feel looked into Fl3, but those advices people giving are legit :slight_smile:

Sorry I was a bit unclear and aggressive in my last statement. All I meant was do not feel locked into Fl3 despite what anyone says. Other than that, everyone’s given their (helpful) two cents.

Waiting for more opinions, maybe other players have similiar thougts on this.

fletcher scout is really optimal. cloak gives you the MS you need to complete the map and when boss hunting.

I have 2 fletchers atm so imo fletcher 3 is worth it. Now for skill points:
10 magic arrow (obv)
Atleast 10 into broadhead for 100% uptime
Pref 1 into bodkin for pvp
4 barbs arrow
15 x-fire (this will change once we get mergen. For now this is our only AoE
5 dma (optional)

Yea, figured, personal preference here is to throw 0 at barbs, just cuz i dont get the use …im not gonna look everytime if its good or not against this or that mob. Just wanna shut down brain and burn mobs :wink:

Other than that i think we have the an optimal distribution on Fl3 :slight_smile:

Other than that i gonna use
Full Draw 10 (Removing 2 players for that time from PvP seems viable)
SS 10
MS 8 (Gonna have low STR, since i will go con/dex, but still: that skill is cool)
Kneeing Shot 1 (for lazy evenings :P)
Heavy Shot 1 (Just for pvp to interrupt casts, if i coming from hide)
Steady Aim 5
…the other Ranger skills were just for leveling up. At c1, those damage numbers are too low to be competetive with FL2/3 or Mergen; especially of you dont put much in STR

Barb is good to have if you want to erase those pesty cloth/leather magician mob.

Well, im 176 now, with a 1:2 con/dex right now. Really no problems keeping up with the DPS classes.

Magic arrows scaling is way too good for you to not go into rank3 of fletcher, your dps pretty much triples when you do.

Yea. The point of AoE def ratio is to bring it lower then 0. Then you archieve a lot more hits with your skills.

I think i gonna go for Fletcher3, i can see some use of DMA in PvP. I guess the damage with Fl3 and Mergen, AoE wise, gonna be enough.

Any1 know, wether the Silence Attribute of MA is it worth ?

I have it at LV 1 and still 5 secs cooldown…i heard it will extend your cooldown. Not too sure. Can someone please check?
