A Note about the so-called RO sequel

as such RO has never been a SandBox despite some people calling it as such, which is actually just Open World

Shh, don’t tell them. You’ll hurt their feelings.

Well however you want to define it, the freedom RO gave in so many areas of play is what made that game fun for me. No hand holding, total stat, skill and gear freedom. All lvling choices were up to you. They gave you PVP rooms and let you decide what to do with them and let you arrange things. And all you needed to try WoE is to be dumb and ballsy enough to go wander up there and poke your head into a portal. Sure it might get blown off but you gotta try these things XD

ToS is basically a fantasy open world game, but adding a bit of sandbox features won’t hurt. I think that would make the game more fun and give players more options about what they are going to do in the game.

The good times. I really loved that freedom.

its not ro-sequel but it does have some sort of elements of it!

it does have some sort of elements of it!

it only looks like RO, and thats it

Dude, I recently posted an article about Hearthstone in off-topic that got deleted .-.
Because they have a rule against “advertising other MMOs” wtf? XD

Was skimming through the forums to find you and the rest to be honest XD

I am sorry for off topic .w.

ON TOPIC: I totally agree that this shouldn’t be a complete copy of RO but I think everyone already understands that? RO is super RIP at the moment and copying a zombie will just create another zombie… So yea they are really just copying what we love about RO, what makes us return to it after we quit it no matter what. But removing what actually makes us quit it… and that makes this game very dangerous XD

If designs is what made you think this is the spiritual successor of RO then you weren’t even playing RO right. The community and the traditional gameplay was also a big part of what made RO popular and still quite strong today.

nope RO was one of the ancient mmos out there thats why RO was popular then (2002-3 you can only count with you fingers the number of mmos). Which is why IMC is using the nostalgia to market ToS.

most of the 20-30 year old users here were from those era and was their 1st ever MMORPG

This. You have articulated exactly what I have attempted to tell others about what I miss most about iRO when trying other games. The character specialization and builds is something I haven’t seen in any other game. For example, look at GW2; it is absolutely beautiful and has some really great group play, but zero true customization when it comes to choosing our stats and build. You literally pick a weapon and gain 5 skills, period. You can only go so far with ‘skins’.

I beg to differ , it doesn’t have to be RO… however RO was one of the most innovative and interesting games I personally have played.

It’s that creativity and interesting game mechanics ppl are looking for.

Ragnarok 2 has taken away a lot from it’s much superior original. While I agree that each game should be merited on it’s own achievements and faults. A hope will always be strong.
