A look at sapper traps / Skills with setups

Hi guys, appreciate you dropping into this thread.

I’m here to find out how sapper traps actually work in damage calculation, specifically when it actually takes the player’s physical attack into consideration. (On set-up, or on trigger)

For example, if I were to set up a sapper punji stake, then go into kneeling shot from Archer C2, would there be a damage increase because of the physical damage boost from kneeling shot? If damage is calculated on skill use, or set up of the trap, then there wouldn’t be. If damage is calculated on trigger, when damage actually ticks off on an enemy, there would be a damage increase.

This also applies to other “placed” or skills requiring a “set up”. Even the pyromancer’s flame ground that takes magic damage into account or the caltrops from quarrel shooter. Would the damage from the traps placed be increased by buffs activated after they were used?

To end off the opening post, I have found threads mentioning the Scout’s Flare Shot as a DoT skill, and that it does indeed get affected by kneeling shot. The same thread also mentions only 2 other skills from wugashi and the like as DoT skills, and thus I was not sure if traps actually count as DoT skills.

Thanks for the help, looking forward to your answers.
