Hunters has an issue? like companions wont help, stuck? I wanna play with hunter/falconer for PvE, I’ve read somewhere about an issue, but don’t remember what, could anyone help ? Dankie (Sorry, I have a bad english ;-; )
The pet bug with certain skills, get stuck and don’t react until you resummon it, my suggestion is hold on a hunter for now and play other build, falconer seem to be fine tho.
You’ve got to learn to wait for coursing to finish, since it’s going to do the animation for the whole 14 seconds at lvl 5.
Rush dog scales according to your companion’s stats.
Retrieve is the less buggy version of coursing since you can just end it walking towards your pet.
Snatching is amazing if the flying enemy doesn’t resist it. like I’ve got it at lvl 5 and it’s amazing, there’s people with that thing at lvl 15 imagine that.
Hounding has multiple pointless levels, leave it at lvl 1.
Pointing. is this even useful? there’s hunters with experience with this one. I’ve got none.
Growling, I’ve left it at lvl 3. it’s amazing good for solo. since your party won’t even notice it.
There’s certain enemies around the game that are immune to coursing, retrieve and growling these enemies often can’t also be affected by normal CC.
A short example is : nuka, guardian, blue harugal and red dawn maiden.
You must at all times keep your companion close to you otherwise you’ll blow the CD on the skills without actually throwing any skill.
Your companion doesn’t target what you’re targeting, instead it choose whatever is closer to your character’s head point of view and it’s own trajectory, this means that you’ll have to be at melee range to hit the one monster you want in between all the others.
Whenever your pet bugs, just relog.
Now for falconer.
DO NOT LEVEL ROOST, it’s so pointless, good thing it’s only a lvl 1 skill.
Your coold downs are so long that you’ll be able to call back your hawk once the skill is done.
Now, call is mandatory, otherwise you’ll have to relog to throw another skill since the hawk goes away after every action.
Hovering is good but unreliable, it hits anything randomly inside its area of effect. you may want to skip this skill if you’re trying to go for the auto blitz beat from circle 3.
Sonic strike is a circle 2 skill, very very underwhelming damage. long cd too. but at circle 3 it will cast itself for that auto blitzbeat.
Circling is a must, for now it’s really uncertain if there’s any usefulness to take it beyond level 5, as most enemies just have at most 5 AOE defense.
Pheasant is a one use quick area knock up/down.
Hanging shot is useful at lvl 1 only, every additional level will just increase its duration for one second, not worth it.
Now. beware, falconer used to be reliable in its interaction between skills and call. two weeks ago they broke falconer, your hawk is rooted to a spot. in pvp if you die it will fly for eternity. hope they’ll fix this in the next nine to twelve weeks.
This will answer your questions:
Dankie for the answers!
OMG! poor hunters ;_;
I don’t know what to do now
To be honest, hunter is not a DPS class, it’s meant as a support archer. other than in pvp your support doesn’t really show. you’ll just be an archer with lesser damage. However, hunter is really fun.
If you try to use retrieve / coursing while in a party and that party is attacking a group of enemies, don’t bother. the group will die real quick, instead use it on the enemies around to hold those pesky magic casters.
If you go to circle 3, if you see an ally near death and you know that the monsters are not immune to growling, position yourself to use rush dog near the group that’s attacking your ally and then quickly use growling. it’s a real tricky thing you can do and it may or may not save your ally.
In PvP I tend to hover around my pet, if a cataphract rushes you, stay near your pet and use coursing. he’ll trip with the pet and help the group.
Well my point is: Hunter has little to do while in a PvE environment, Falconer has even less things to do in the same environment.
Hovering and pheasant both do knock backs. this hinders your melee friends as you move the target away from them. can also break links.
Sonic strike can deal some damage if you go full str, but it’s once every 45 seconds and don’t even dream that it will be on par with a musketeer or cannoner.
The only thing left is circling, circling’s alrite I guess. just remember to have your bird around you cause it has a 35 CD with the attribute.
I feel extremly useless most of the times because most of the parties I end up are dependant on the magic users, and circling doesn’t help them.
Hunter has little to do while there as I mentioned before, overall it’s not a very useful thing to play but oh boy is it fun and challenging.
So to those that are interested in playing this class, please do try it, but do not expect to do marvels and enjoy the trip.
-Edit-
Oh forgot to add:
If you do indeed go Hunter Falconer, beware. this consumes 2 slots as both companions are well… companions, even if the hawk behaves as a summon, it is a companion that will take a slot in your lodge.
Yeah well its a gimmick, when I chose it back in april I chose it solely based on its description, so I was disappointed, raged at the bugs, marvel at coursing and retrieve at the same time ( this allowed amazing dps, but it was not intended), was completly heartbroken when I saw my skills do nothing agaisnt bosses, teared when I went to demon prison.
But as I kept playing and learned to work around the bugs and accepted that I am an archer 2 falconer 2 vs bosses ( unless they’re flying type oh yeaahhhh! ) I began to enjoy the class. whether stockholm syndrome or genuine enjoyment I can’t tell at this point.
All I can tell you is that I’m waiting for pied piper to add another gimmick to my gimmick belt. Unless puppeter is a rank 9 class, I’m torn.
