A fair assessment on swordman DPS issue (no not bigger damage)

Yep, and they are weak. Even if you go high STR, your damage per hit would be around 2k. Multiply that by 4-5 hits, 8-10k for rank 7 skills is simply weak comparing to the neighbor cyclone.

It’s also funny how people fail to read just literally 1 line above “take an example”. That’s not a comparison, that’s an example.

Yea, and coincidentally, the multi-hit skills has almost the same skill damage as your Dragon Tooth which you assessed as,

Damage classes are mostly called “DPS” for a reason. Hope you know what DPS means.

As a result of Flacconade being Slash, Cleaves 50% boost is of use to Fencers as well.

So far I just find it funny that people come into the thread, read the first few lines and think that I’m against buffs for swordman lol.

The only good thing about dopple c2 is rank 10 DoV and Cyclone.

The new skills are just awful in comparison. They don’t even out damage a rank 10 multishot and have a longer cooldown.

Even with the +50% slash buff, I’m wondering where it is located on the damage formula. It should be a T3 modifier. If not, you’re not really getting a full 50%.

Aside from the jewed comparison, straight up most Archers and Wizards get good scaling damage AND good attributes for their damage. Meanwhile Swordie just has a bunch of these flat scaling.

Honestly, they’re pathetic right now. You can DPS, and you’ll see some nice numbers pop up every now and again, but you’ll never compete with classes that have above all zero second cooldowns. Yeah, Fletcher’s just like, why.

Since DPS doesn’t only contribute to burst, a straight guttering of most of the Swordie’s cooldowns to Fencer-levels may alleviate some discern, but they were apparently made to be flawed from a mechanic standpoint. Archers and Wizards can both move with certain skills and chain into others, and Clerics have defensive means to set themselves up- All we have is Pain Barrier. Meanwhile we have to throw ourselves lifelessly infront of the enemy and get out DPSed by a class that isn’t even defined as a DPS (Chaplain).

But don’t worry. Gung-Ho and Concentrate will save us!

Got around to testing 2h Spear on KTos to do the testing on my Cataphract there (and far as I know there were no balance changes relevant to Itos in this deparment).

2h Spear also has a 10% modifier (perhaps 2h bow and Musket also have 10% modifiers?). So given you’re above Crit Resist, If a Goon has hop 3 in the build they’ll have that 11.25% benefit from Finestra until higher levels reduces that advantage. That buff aside 2h Spear and 2h Sword are…equal? 2h Spear has attack range and 2h sword has additional aoe ratio (Block Pen and Crit Attack are exclusive to Cata and Highlander respectively). Gaps small enough that Skill damage and Damage type are more important factors.

Earth Wave is a 2.65x (165% more dmg) modifier, (2.75x with 2h Spear). The bonus is additive with the Armor type bonus (3.05x/3.15x on Plate). Unless it gains scaling with additional levels (I highly doubt it, given Carter, Ebolt and Freezing Sphere), in which case its 2.65x for Level 3.

Seism (itos tested) is a 1.7x Modifier (1.8x with 2h sword/Spear). Bonus is additive with the armor type bonus (2.2x/2.3x on cloth).

Yep, that is why instead of adding more damage to skills, we should just focus on the real problem, that is to reduce cool down and cast animation, as well as remove the charging time.

People only like to see bigger number, but even if swordman get more damage now, it won’t solve anything since swordman will still be sitting duck on front line.

Range itself is a superior mechanic, so melee need something more to balance that (I learn that from Dota :D)

People that played the ktos did point the later on swordsman is weak as ■■■■ in pve and pvp.

Hahaha no. By the end of iCBT2 people were already seeing how shitty barbarian fell off compared to other classes, swordsman was only considered good in iCBT2 because archer was much weaker and there was no rank 7 and doppel was even stronger than it is now. The popular build by the end was hoplite into corsair2 or doppel pretty much just like it is now except we’ve got rank 7 dragoon so corsair isn’t nearly as popular.

Imc need to rework swordsman from 0.the way its now dont work as good as the rest.

Things take time to change, meta changes, game changes. There’s no need to be extreme.

Actually there are many more reasons than that:

  • There was no 5v5 PvP in iCBT
  • Wizard didn’t have +50% damage attribute on quick cast
  • Plague doctor wasn’t there
  • Stone skin wasn’t that strong
  • Spawn rate was much better (believe it or not, this spawn rate kills swordman)
  • Level cap was 200, no blue spion archer.

can;t agree more. My muskeeter can do up to 30k multi shot with lv 40 crossbow. with what ? 17s cd and 2 OH LoL
Doppel zucken is 20s, redel is 25s.

wizard did have the attribute. its just the duration of quickcast is 7s before, now it is a fulltime +50% matk.

No need to be extreme? Swordsman dont work in this game.he is onlly good as tank fot ONE skill. Thete classescthat can do his tanking job as well.

Archers do more dps long befor lvl 200.

Now imagine a swordman with exactly the same set of skills and damage, but have something like this:

  • -25% damage taken
  • Can cast/charge skill while moving (like archer)
  • Probably some scaling damage increase in Gungho and Concentrate (see latest blessing buff from priest)

Will it work? I won’t say 100% for sure, but I can say that it will work.

Asking for fine tuning is always better than asking for a complete remake.

being able to move while using skills is good, but did their latest ‘fix’ to the pouncing skill even work?
