A disgusting cashgrab "feature", nobody for some reason seems to be complaining about

And that’s a big problem, because now the ‘premium’ cash items are garbage. They are less useful than standard free drops because those can be traded. Why bother upgrading a character-bound accessory if its only future is to rot in your bank (can you even NPC them)?

It’d make more sense if they were strictly cosmetic, but they ruined that with the enchant scrolls. Now we need costume slots for costume slots to hide the ugly gear with bonuses on them… Until enchant scrolls work on those too

Hair styles and costumes should at least be account tradable. Even if it costs a potential each time so you can’t swap repeatedly, you can rest easy knowing that at some point in the future you may be able to reuse it in some way. They’re expensive too, so you want to give people more reason to buy one, not less.

I’ll also state that you can’t even put the costumes in your team storage, even if they have a potential of 1 ==

Thats actually pretty standard in most MMOs. Nothing to get your panties up into a bunch about.

guys, please give me a break.
as many have said, it is normal these days that cosmetic items are character bound.
Currently IMC is listening to all your requests and removing so many potential money sinks i am getting scared how they will be able to pay the bills once f2p starts. and i am not joking here.
If you want all these things like 1:1 trading, enchant scrolls (yes, in case you missed, their guild battle announcement included a way for everyone to get those with free tp, which is damn nice imo) for free, then please let them make money with cosmetics. and if you need to buy that one hair cut several times. so be it. if this means we can get all these other things fixed/removed. then i will gladly spend tons of TP on haircuts/costumes for each of my chars.

Why is it logical that one character can “collect” a whole bunch of hair styles that they may swap out at their leisure as many times as they like after buying them once, but they can’t give them to anyone else? You can put them in Box A, but not Box B. Why?

And they cost what, $17? For female ones, at least. I’ve seen sexy costumes cost less in other games, and those can be sold on the AH no problem!

I’ve seen ones that cost way more:

Me too. People want to buy it. They should add it.

I’m personally perfectly fine with 1:1 trade restrictions and enchant scrolls. However I dislike the fact, I’m basically stuck with an item which costs about 20 bucks and I’m unable to transfer it to the other character of mine. I can assure you, I would invest in many of the hairstyles if I were able to transfer them via team storage, for now I’m going just to stick to 2, each for my character ;).

Why is it always “all or nothing”?

You realize adding functionality to something gives it more value, right? And lowering the cost means more purchases. Yes, it’s a delicate balance, and some people will buy the only cosmetic item they want and nothing else, but would they buy it multiple times? Or just kinda wish they didn’t have to?

What about the type who has a different look for each character. A unique hair style, costume, and accessory set for each. Now they would like to switch, maybe just one new costume, but they still like the old one. Are they really going to re-buy the one they already own just to keep it on one of their characters? Will they debate which character “needs it more”? Or is it too much trouble and not worth the money to get multiple copies of the same outfit?

If they could all be swapped, you’d see more people simply get ALL of them. Now any of their characters can wear anything, instead of being forever locked to one. There’s no longer any hard decision of which one you like the best at any given moment, because you can just switch later. No regrets. Just buy it.

Then whenever a new costume comes out, you’re encouraged to instantly buy it right there. You can’t screw it up by getting it on the wrong character, since you can put it in Team storage. It won’t be forgotten forever once you find a new costume you like, since you can put it on a new or different character, then back again. And if they do lose potential then there’s still a slight incentive to buy a new one once it’s used up.

If it’s not worth buying once, it’s not worth buying multiple times.

You do realize that’s not how it works right? You understand that businesses need to make money right? Like I literally already explain to you that there aren’t enough premium items for them to add an option to be transferable to your whole team.

This is a free to play game. In order for this game to sustain itself it needs a way for people to constantly spend money. This is one of the very few ways people actually spend money.

Statistically this method produces the most income. I know this because literally every f2p MMORPG does it for a reason. It’s not because they don’t like money like you suggest or that they don’t like to add value to their product. This is literally the way for people to spend money constantly.

It’s not all or nothing.

This is gave and take. I agree with you that they ■■■■■■ up with enchant scrolls but are we really going to complain about cosmetic items? Where you literally lose nothing if you choose not to buy it?

If you keep talking about being logical then please provide some sort of proof that this method is better for their business? All I see is personal bias.

theyll probably fix this with the team storage update (they better!)
i too am annoyed by this, i cant transfer my exp boosters and soul crystals.

Doesnt make any sense when you can literally swap haircuts (wigs) mid-combat… unless your barber looks like:

No offence but more or less everything in the game is accessible without you having to pay a cent for it or rather will be when it goes F2P after EA. So I don’t see how you having to pay for cosmetics can be called “milking”. This is a game you play for free, IMC has to get money from somewhere, right? Would you rather they start charging dungeon access tickets and sell gear with high specs making it P2W? Try putting yourself in their shoes and think how much it costs to pay all the people employed and all the equipment needed for this game to be available for you to play.

Monocle can be removed and sold. It doesn’t lose value after purchasing. It doesn’t make a great example in the context of this thread.

That’s the problem right there. I don’t like the premium costumes in the shop. I’ve got money that I’d be willing to spend but the shop is nearly empty. IMC needs to be adding to this shop weekly if they want to keep the game profitable.

Be patient, the game isn’t even in the F2P mode yet.

every nexon or similar mmo since the last 15 yrs is like this…everything from the tp/nx/pts shop is bound to character permanently

Holy hell, when did providing cosmetic items become a cash grabbing scheme? You realize that looking pretty gives you absolutely 0 combat advantage right?

The OP has a point though. It would be nice to transfer hairs, but that is not their business model at the moment and my change in the future.

You share TP across your characters. The fact of the matter is you shouldn’t be loading 1 character up with thousands of cash shop items in the first place.

But the company knows people are willing to pay thousands if not more for cosmetics. It’s one of the main selling points of F2P games so that is why they decided to keep it this way.
