[600+ VOTES! 🎉] Gacha poll, do we want it? IMC need to understand we're not koreans

Peace is bad for the economy :frowning:

I think Mr Romeo secretly hates the game the most around here, because he consistently supports anything IMC does to lower the population base. Oh sure RNG boxes WILL bring in much income (it’s the only reason why they keep appearing in almost every damn MMO) but can TOS stomach it without losing even more players? It’s not like TOS has much left.

One thing does surprise me, the gacha system already exists in this game prior to this cosmetic rng box. How come suddenly the uproar?

Curious thing though.

It’s more of the fact that everything is getting pulled into the boxes, rather than the presense of the box itself. People won’t be able to buy the later outfits coming out but rather they’d have to gamble for it now if everything goes swimmingly. Even I hate that grubby decision, it’s entirely unneeded and IMC would probably make more money if they just, actually put a damn sale up every once in awhile.

Also granted Gacha boxes are just lottery money for MMOs, so there’s that too. People hate them.

No I agree, like I said earlier these RNG boxes blow. I hate this monetization method.

I actually probably made a mistake, the enchant scrolls only allow stat increases; though they have a wide variance from absolute crap to almost game changing.

I forgot these RNG costume boxes might contain other things than costumes, but the variance is still probably high.

Just find it odd that people didnt make a bigger stiff about such a wide variance power RNG scroll compared to a subjective “this dress is prettier than the other dress” box; but I forgot the cosutme box might end up with like a health potion or something real bad like that. (I did make a comment on it, but the whihueknights were too blind at that point in the game, so I guess they didnt realize they had been bamboozeled already btw. I knew these boxes were heading to this game, once I saw the head piece enchant scroll)

Also yes I hate theses boxes, I hope they dont do what PWE/Cryptic does and flash that ■■■■ across everyone’s screen when some sucker on his 400th box gets the grand prize (or that lucky SOB on his first box); either way IMC you have choosen the copy cat money grubbing model; tis sad.

Think the reason why this is implemented is due to costumes being tradable via the marketplace.

In the previous iteration of the game, when costumes are still account bound and not tradable. Each player, if they want a premium costume look, they will have to spend 129TP to purchase it.

Now, when a player wants a premium costume, he or she can either purchase the costume via marketplace or through player to player trades. Players can barter trade, exchanging costumes to constantly cycle their looks. This kind of leads to lesser sales of costumes from the TP shop.

Hence something is needed to be done to get back the sales of cosmetic items through the TP shop (gachapon), although implementation of it needs more work to appeal to the international audience.

Well, you just spilled the beans on my master plan.

Have fun watching the tree burn~

Doesnt USA has some kind of regulations for gambling in not 18+ videogames?
EU has and IMC might have to reclassify the game as PEGI 18+, using their sports car founds of course, or lawsuits might force them to remove the gatcha system as a whole from the european server

fk you imc, being from the western half of the hemisphere does not make us shamoo

Legislation tends to lag behind technological advancement.

Does MMOs even get an official ESRB rating? specially the F2P ones?

ITOS is rated NFPP
not for poor people, gotta keep them whales coming

No casual and plebs allowed, only hardcore, masochist and rich are only allowed to play this game :joy:

Gacha makes hella money and pleases whales while frustrating everyone else.

It’s because kTOS got necklaces that add 20 to STR / DEX / CON and a big deal of M.Def. They are temporary items but they are powerful items.

More powerful than what we can farm and get in the game.

They are actively adding great items into the item shop, but not into the actual in game world except behind RNG boss cubes.

We gamble for our REAL gear, but why bother when you can just use real money to buy a temporary insane gear? It’s a scam.

I hate this system, I buy alot of outfits and hairstyles/dyes/pupils and this would stop me right in my tracks from buying any more tp to buy said items in the future.

Why would I want to pay 30 tp (30!!!) for a box that could give me a Apple to regen my sp or hp!!!???
Unless these said apples and golden anvils etc from these boxes can be sold back at the exchange for 30 tp and buy another box I am NOT having this!

Unbound rage incoming at this rng box and the one who thought this was a good idea.

I’m out.

Ah, I want to throw in my 2 cents, too. Better late than never.

First: I am not 100% against Gacha. BUT: It needs to (be a good one, and) co-exists with a NORMAL Cash-Shop

IMC, just put the Gatcha system NEXT to the normal Shop! Thats okay!

I am not willing to GAMBLE for a costume I might, or rather NOT get in the end. I want to buy it right off the Shop. (yes it would be okay if its in the gatcha for like 3-4weeks and than comes to tp shop)
One premium costume costs around 14 € (in case you buy the 300TP back for EU Server) now, and thats already alot. But I am willing to pay that price. I just get that costume and nothing else I don’t want or don’t like (or don’t need).
Buying costumes right off the shop is easy on my nerves and I dont get frustrated.

Here are some more points to think about:

  • Westerns dont like rng gamble too much (We already have those gamble enchants, and radom bosscube loots etc.)

  • Gambling can be highly addictive (we have kids playing, maybe they buy tons of TP from they parents money without asking)

  • rng-gatchas are highly frustrating and could lead to envy/scamming/cheating/quitting

  • rates are always poor (I dont think it will be 50 % change for an cosmetic item)

  • Even IF you win, you get a RANDOM cosmetic. (NOT your gender/Class or even a spare one you already have)

  • prices aren’t fair : gatchas tend to have items in it, you can get without real money already (like potions)

  • people feel cheated and robbed: you can’t give a nice costume shop first, and then take it away and put it behind a rng-gatcha-gamble wall

  • might fuel the RMT/botters (people rather buy silver, than pay for horrendous gatcha-rng-thingy)

  • IG-Inflation (Inflation is bad, mhhhh-kay)

Please RETHINK your dicision, IMC! Or do you want to loose players this baldy?! (Yeah yeah, less players = less lagg xD)

As I said above:
Put the gatcha in, but as a bonus. Let the normal TP-costume shop as it is.
So people CAN try to gamble for their costume, or can buy it right off the Shop.
(Heck, this way they/we even can try to gathca a costume 1-xx times and still buy it, when they/we have no luck)

And: This so called “recycling-system” from that gatcha isn’t helping matters.
It is just an Illusion. We won’t get back the full gatcha-price and have to “recycle” too much to get what we want. And I am sure, we can just trade in the cosmetics, not all those pots we will get.

And IG market prices for costumes will rise like crazy. And in the worst case: people RATHER buy RMT-money to buy costumes off the IG-Market than get real TP!!! Wheres your anti-rmt now?! You play right into the RMTers/Botters hands

In the end, its just a cashgrab from all of us cosmetic-junkies. (yes I am one of them. I want all my chara to look pretty and cute and different from each other and I have 10+ chara x-x)
And I am NOT willing to support that. There are TOO many other issues with this game to warrant costume-rng-gatcha-gambling without a normal way of buying costumes.
I am sorry!

I feel like we have way too inusfficient info for everyone to go straight to losing their ■■■■, or do we?

The blogpost is pretty basic and uninformative, but it makes it sound as if it would just temporarely limit new and non-C3 costumes to whales via dumb gambling. Which implies that once the next costumes come, the previous ones can be obtained through the exchange shop for possibly roughly the same amount of investment as their direct buying price (no reason why not through the normal shop as well though!!).

But in addition to that we have infos from kTOS which has a similar system in place, and hence we’re assuming we are getting the worst combination of both? In the sense that the one on kTOS is not oriented around costumes but is a cashshop RNG with random stuff in it in addition to costumes being available in the shop, whereas here we’re told it will be primarily about obtaining the newest costume, and it being the only way to do so (at least while they’re new).

They can milk whales with gambling all they want for all I care…but the actual concern here boils down to some OP 7day stat bracelets that are available in the kTOS exchange shop (which I agree does sound like a terrible idea).

Do I have this story straight so far?

tl;dr: need more info on wtf they’re actually gonna do + there is no reason to stop selling (at least "not new anymore) costumes normally.

(Also, never heard the term before this shitstorm, but is the misspelling gaTcha intentional to make a point or is the “idgaf about spelling” just more common than usual in this thread?)
