In the span of 65 minutes today my whisper counter reached 48 all from the same nameless chineese gold spam bot. I currently have to tab activate party and shout chat only b/c I am literally getting the new unblockable tells every 30-60 seconds, this is unacceptable.
I have played since day 1 of founder’s access, have taken 3 characters past 250, if this does not stop soon I will be leaving, the bots have only gotten worse, not better, and now I cant even use the in game chat b/c I cant read my boxes through the 100s of buyhoa.gold.com garbage.
I was in orsha (town) channel 1 and same crab happened and they all step on same spot to prevent quick report…
that been said, the add-on for reporting and blocking spammers saved my day before my compu froze cause of the spams
if you don’t have it, I recommend you find and get the addon, it makes life better and FK the spammers and bots
Is the spam coming from characters with a blank team name?
the whisper spam yes, but in town they have name, go to Klaipeda server > Orsha Town > channel 1 and you will find like 5 near warp and shops…
then your whisper get spam by no name spammer…
even when you will whisper back it only says [To: ]

yes when I get the whisper I block them, then I get the same whisper about 30sec later in the same user window of the last whisper I had just blocked, there is no name attached to any of the whispers, anytime you visit town atm to repair or use the market on Klapedia you get bombarded by these new invisible gold spam whispers.

Thank you both for your replies. We’ve blocked the ones we found yesterday, but new blank name accounts are still popping up. Our team is investigating this so hopefully there’ll be a fix soon.

7/1/2016 nothing has changed, I am still getting unblockable whispers from no name gold sellers, mmotank.com everytime I go to town or log in, within 0.5sec the whispers start…
Yes, this also happens in Fedimian server.
BUMP come on guys, we are still getting spammed, I mean SPAMMED on Klapedia by MMOTANK bots with no names, cant block them
If spaces are restricted on team name creation, they’re either using special characters your filter is not recognizing or using database commands that override your restrictions.
Solution to these issue is to improve your data validation algorithm, and include specifically which characters CAN be used, exclusively, instead of checking for those that can’t be used (common bad practice).
But if they DO have names, and they can send messages without showing it, they’re using in-line commands in the chat to bypass the normal whisper process.
My suggestion: get rid of the language filter you have in place (which is annoying the living hell out of a lot of people), and instead implement a validation method that doesn’t allow players to input anything other than normal punctuation and standard characters. Also, if you give us decent chat stickers while you guys are at it, we won’t need to type kaomojii with weird characters either lol.
Seriously though, this is a matter of applying software development best practices. The developers of this webpage, for example, made it so the registration fields have proper validation, otherwise it would be relatively easy to just DROP (delete) your whole forum player database through a database command by just guessing how your players table name is. The same applies for restricted text fields in game.

This is getting worst from time to time… As they delay the fix or the solution for this problem, these botters / gold sellers are getting more advance and consistent.
They had even started to harm innocent players by tagging their names on the whispers like in this case.
This is really alarming right now. Other Team Names being used to spam pesky goldsellers ads and I really dont know how the heck they do that!! Because of this, they might be falsely reported.
I hope there will be more advance solution to counteract these annoying consistent pricks.

Yes, people always say “man this is the worst I have ever seen” so I do try to avoid using that phrase when discussing mmorpgs but in my 20+ years of online gaming (11years on FFXI, 2yrs TESO, 4yrs FFXIV, 3yrs TERA, 2yrs DDOnline, 3years LOTRO etc) this is actually the most intrusive and blatent rmt activity I have ever seen hands down in a game.
And what makes it 100000x worse is the massive amount of crushing restrictions placed on the real players to prevent the rmt activity. Every single anti-rmt feature of this game, the 48 hour market silver delay, the trading restrictions etc needs to be thrown out the window, b/c it has done nothing but make our lives even crappier.

This confirms the mehod they’re using is what I described. It’s a bit too advanced for your usual code kiddie, but simple enough that you don’t have to be an experienced programmer to break throught.
This type of validation has been responsible for huge losses for even big financial companies, but it’s not complicated to avoid if you keep it in mind during development. It’s worrying that game developers focus too much in their game code and forget about these IT quirks.

yep… true story. Hopefully they would realize this before its way too late, and do take some actions. Players find it very annoying and might be the cause of them leaving the game for good.
bump, 7/24/16 still getting atleast 60 unblockable no-name tagged whispers from MMOTank a day, but yet the focus now is more tp costumes, jesus imc, you wonder why you lose a 3rd of youre player base a month
