3DS games recommendation?

So, I just acquired a 3DS for the very first time!

I’d like some recommendations. I like RPGs, rhythm games and platformers, though I sometimes enjoy race and fighting games as well.

As of now, I own the Pokemon and Fire Emblem series, as well as Final Fantasy Theatrhyhtm and Super Smash Bros. What else do you guys think I should play? Any help is appreciated!

My favorites:

  • Rune Factory 4 - Xiao Pai master waifu.
  • Etrian Odyssey - If you like dungeon crawling and character creation.
  • Bravely Default/Second - Must buy.
  • Super Mario 3D World is a good one but LoZ a Link Between Worlds is better. Multiple game of the year awards in 2013 (man that last boss fight).
  • Senran Kagura - ( ͔° ĶœŹ– ͔°)
  • Project X Zone - If you like strategy games, also those animations are pretty epic. Anyone who likes SRT should enjoy this.
  • Azure Striker Gunvolt (Or just grab Megaman Zero Collection for the DS, if you can find it).
  • Shovel Knight - Really fun and with a lot of content after the free Plague Knight DLC.
  • Cave Story - Best version of the game I’ve played.

The ones I heard are cool but never played:

  • The Dead or Alive something.
  • Stella Glow.
  • Lord Of Magna.
  • SteamWorld Heist.
  • Story Of Seasons.
  • Hyrule Warriors (for New 3DS)
  • Inazuma Eleven
  • A lot of stuff that I can’t remember.

But in all honest, just grab Rune Factory 4 and say goodbye to 700+ hours of your life. You are welcome.

Oh, I played the first and second Rune Factories on the DS, I’m so playing 4.

Is Azure Striker Gunvolt the same as the Steam one?

As for the others, I’m definitely checking them out, thanks a lot!

Yes, but as far as platformers go Shovel Knight and Cave Story+ are better options. Maybe the Megaman Zero Collection as I mentioned, as a DS user you probably have heard of it at some point.

Btw Gunvolt 2 is coming out this year.

I’m a huge fan of MegaMan, so of course I played the Zero Collection. In fact, I think a replay on a larger screen is in order.

Most of the games you recommended seem to be very nice (I loved every MarvelousAQL game I’ve played so far), I’ll just have to decide which ones I’ll get after RF4.

Final fantasy explorers, fantasy life, tales of the abyss, xenoblade chronicles, kingdomhearts 3d to name a few of the 3ds

And a special one from the old DS: the world ends with you (i love it sooooo much)

ā– ā– ā– ā–  yeah, Subarashiki Kono Sekai (I refuse referring to this game’s as its english name lol) is one of my DS favorites!

I was planning on getting Tales of the Abyss and KH3D (this one I basically ā€œplayedā€ via youtube lol), thanks for the other recommendations!

This one is for the New 3DS only.

And I must say Kingdom Hearts DDP feels trippy AF. I think I started getting lost in that 360 something for the DS, the story is those games is a mess.

Etrian Odyssey (4, Untold 1, Untold 2) and Rune Factory 4 have given me so much mileage out of my 3DS lol

Congratulations. I got one myself just last week and been enjoying the games that I bought for it.

Before I forget, you can get 5 Nintendo 3DS games for only $13 on Humble Bundle right now. BUY IT NOW.

As for games, you might want to specify some of your favorite genres. But like anyone else, I WOULD SUGGEST getting Bravely Default / Second. If you like ToS, BD / BS is your best bet.

if you got a group of 4 who’d equally enjoy this game…MONSTER HUNTARRR. also enjoyable otherwise.

I saw that yesterday and already purchased.

But I did. I said I like RPGs, rhythm games and platformers, though I sometimes enjoy race and fighting games as well, it’s right there on the second paragraph of my first post.

Many people suggested that one, so it’s second on my purchase list (right after Rune Factory 4). It’s a shame 3DS games are horribly expensive in my country, so I’m having to look for used games.

Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance (KH3D) is a mix of those three genres you like. Rhythm Heaven Megamix is up the alley too, and will be released by Q3 2016.

If you have a New 3DS, get Xenoblade Chronicles. I played it on a friend’s New 3DS (before I opted to buy myself a new one) and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

And if I may ask, what is your country?

Lastly, I hope you like digital purchases (or purchasing on Amazon) because Bravely Default is sold out almost everywhere.

Seconding Fantasy Life, although it’s more fun if you have friends either locally or online to play with. The story is kind of bare-bones, but the mechanics are amazingly fun <3

Animal Crossing is fun, but it’s more of a time waster than a true RPG.

Bravely Default/Second are also amazing fun, highly recommending along with everyone else. x3

If you’re a fan of the Legend of Zelda series, then I would pick up a copy of A Link Between Worlds, too. Very refreshing, back-to-its-roots Zelda game.

One game that I haven’t seen anyone else recommend yet, which blows my mind, is Fire Emblem: Awakening, and Fire Emblem: Fates o.o So amazingly good. Highly recommend. <3

Kid Icarus: Uprising is really fun, especially if you enjoyed Kid Icarus back in the day. It’s no longer a platformer, though. Now, it’s a full-fledged RPG with great gameplay and fun flying mechanics. Your hands will hurt after long playing sessions, due to the controls, though.

I must also mention the obligatory Pokemon, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Professor Layton games. Pokemon is an RPG, but the others are slightly less so, in my opinion. :3

If you enjoy Etrian Odyssey, they made an offshoot called Etrian Mystery Dungeon. I’m not sure where you stand on roguelikes, but it’s a great amount of fun with some decent challenge to it. c:

But yeah, that’s all I can think of, off the top of my head~ Maybe we should all exchange friend codes or something at some point. <3

Yeah, I’m a fan of the KH series, that’s a must have for me.

I do have a New 3DS. I’ll watch some traillers. This is one of the most expensive games I’ve been suggested yet. :disappointed_relieved:

HUEland, AKA Brazil. Every single game (and 3DS as well) is imported, so prices can get quite nasty. Even used games are expensive, but a little less, so I’m looking for them.

I managed to find an used Bravely Second, but no luck on Default. I’ll probably have to resort to the digital store, so I’ll probably be able to do it next month.

Yeah, I’ve got very interested on Fantasy Life and Animal Crossing. Totally trying to find an used for both but no luck yet.

You guys are getting me very eager to play. lol

I’m not very into Zelda, but this is one of the most available used games in my country so I’ll probably get this one since it’s relatively cheap.

Nobody recommended because I said I already own the Fire Emblem series in my first post.

My only interactions with the Kid Icarus franchise are on Super Smash Bros. I suppose that counts? lol I love RPGs though, will definitely take a look on that one.

I own Pokemon X and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire. X was the starter game with my console. lol As for Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton, I mostly bought the 3DS so I could play PW vs PL and Dual Destinies. I just need to find them first or resort to the online store. lol

I still wasn’t able to play any of those games, but they’re on my list. I found an used for Odissey but it was expensive as ā– ā– ā– ā–  (more expensive than purchasing on the online store), so I’ll have to take it slow here.

Sure, I just need to figure out how to do it. lol

Monstter hunter is a challenging but fun and rewarding game, and the recent versions have online play!
