240ms-260ms Ping SR attack speed test

I wondered why my Full Dex SR was shooting much slower than this random fletcher hackapell that was shooting mobs around me (no QS3 on both of us). So I sacrificed a stat potion just to have some solid evidence rather than just speculation.

Playing from Singapore to Klaipeda Server.
240-260ms Ping, Swift Step and Limacon on, test done standing still in highlander master training room, no fps lag and stable-ish ping in that area.

Counting for 10 shots, values below in seconds

Crossbow:
120 Dex = 8.1
Kneeling (+300 aspd) 120 Dex = 7.6

Pistol:
74 Dex = 7.1, 7.2, 7.4
80 Dex = 7.2, 7.2, 7.3
100 Dex = 7.3, 7.3, 7.4
120 Dex = 7.4, 7.4, 7.4
170 Dex = 7.1, 7.2, 7.3
230 Dex = 7.2, 7.1, 7.0
280 Dex = 7.0, 6.9, 7.1
340 Dex = 6.7, 6.7, 6.9
390 Dex = 6.7, 6.9, 6.5

Conclusion:
390 Dex - 80 Dex = 310 Dex
Assuming that 1 Dex = 1 Attack Speed, this matches up the crossbow test with kneeling shot.
About 0.5 seconds saved in 10 shots, 0.05 seconds every shot on average.
Patk lost to save this 0.05 second per shot = 750 from 300 STR not added.

High Latency Players: Don’t bother with Dex for Attack Speed. Kneeling shot, Quicken or Running shot for Attack Speed is a small bonus only.

If anyone wanna donate me a stat potion it’ll be appreciated so I can go full STR

Edit: The donation part is just a joke, I have a spare stat reset.

There are so many flaws in this you cannot even imagine.
Just three of these:

  1. Attack speed works in brackets.
  2. Not moving makes you lose 20-30% attack speed since there’s no cancel.
  3. The difference between 0 dex and 300+ dex is ONLY between 25 and 35% attack speed.

Figured that Attack Speed might work in brackets so I did with a set number of 10s to see any difference. The discrepancy with the different timings, I noticed, is sometimes my shots are actually shooting properly like I see others do but most of the time it doesn’t.

I actually shot faster when I don’t move because my animation rubberbands and shows down the shots (It plays the animation twice). Please take in mind this is with 260ms ping lol. If what you say about dex increasing 25-35% attack speed, it shouldn’t matter if I stand still or shoot while moving anyway because no matter which one I test it in, the other will be sped up as well.

Also if you’re going to make a claim against something I personally tested can you provide evidence as well ?

Ayyylmao then why do you even reply :^)

@MelioettaZyguard you’re right. This was pretty much what I noticed and the reason I always said about high ping when recommending a smaller pick for DEX and rest in STR. Ended up stopping insisting because the number of people just insisting on DEX ><

Same for faster attack speed when not moving. Also true for 140-180ms range.

One interesting thing for me though: When comparing my ASPD to other SRs it seems to be slower (no proof, no tests, just timings from destroying objects in ET and visual farm speed).

But not in a “capped” way. Having higher DEX seemed better for me than before but still not the same ASPD as others known SRs with same DEX but lower ping.

P.S.: This seems to be such a hard thing to discuss ;-;

They don’t understand our high latency struggles :tired:

or actually, in your case, they don’t understand their own high latency struggles.

I once tested my dps with varying dex-str ratio back when we have the reset event. My results are pretty close to yours. At one point, DEX will have diminishing returns compared to STR and the only thing to know that sweet spot is by testing it yourself.

I recently moved and noticed immediatly the difference of connection.

If previously my Qs3 with running shot was fast with over 200 DEX now it’s basically useless and good only for crit attack. I seriously want to reset into a sapper now, it’s just so laggy and i can’t notice any difference of speed between kneeling shot and normal autoattacks.

The same applies to my cryochrono. A level 15 quicken is just a small attack speed increase

I’ve played archer on jTOS and i didnt notice drops in actual attack speed. What i’ve understood is that the game tries to sync up when you do certain actions to prevent you from cheating and to resync you with the server and the animation gets “stuck” if you lag too much or lose too many packets. This happens more often with bows for example.

That said even with 500 dex you do less than 3 attacks per second. Thats 300+ ms between each attack.
The game tries to cheat the lag by showering you with numbers when you are actually attacking something like 2.5 times per second, that’s why we have the “lines” as a design choice.
200 dex is less than 25% extra attack speed compared to 1 dex.

Yeah I understood that first part and I do get it more often with bows like you said.

I don’t get the very last sentence though. Do you mean 200 dex in high latency compared to 1 dex is low latency ?

Pretty much why I gave up playing my SR.
Even though QS Running Shot felt really smooth a few patches prior to the aspd update.

Hi! So are you saying that since in iTos, our latency/ping is not the same with jTos, are you basically recommending 200 dex total as well?

I’m just saying that 200 dex is less than 25% attack speed.
To get to 50% extra attack speed you need something like 600 dex, and even then we are under 3 attacks per second.

Okay I understand that point. So considering iTos latency at best, what is the optimal total dex since we are “capped” by our iTos latency?

250 dex pre equipment is fine. That’s like 450ms between each attack. My point is that attack speed is so low that even by having 1000 dex you wont be able to do more than 1 attack every 300ms. Lag is sync based, so you will lose damage with every single build anyways, even with 0 dex.

TLDR
Attack speed in this game is super low, to reach ragnarok’s 190 aspd you would need something like 5000+ dex lol.

I do feel like my attacks are faster with more dex but my attacks register at almost the same speed as with no dex. Guessing that is the sync.
