This is the first time I notice the FPS going higher than 60, I thought it was capped at that value… but today I’ve been able to play with 120 FPS. Is that new or did I simply unlock an option I was not aware of before?
I think it depends the map and so on. Also consider one of the latest patch was the one for fps drop in HG
You probably disabled v-sync.
That’s pretty much it. The only thing is… I have no idea how I did that
Alright… ESC - System Menu - Settings - Resolution - Vertical Sync Off
I must have pressed that by inadvertance. Now I have no idea if it’s better with or without that option…
Hello @olivier-benard!
I’m not much knowledgeable about v-sync things. Take this with a grain of salt and search more to make your own conclusions.
I usually leave mine enabled.
But I believe it should be better to leave enabled because:
- It prevents you from processing more things than you need, no need to go over 60 FPS on 60 Hz monitor.
- It prevents screen tearing and frame stuttering.
- It saves energy/battery.
But on the other hand, it can be better to leave it disabled, because:
- It can add input delay in some scenarios.
- It can make you lose FPS instead on some scenarios.
In the end, the best is simply to test and see what works better for you. It’s an harmless setting and you can change it whenever you want.
Obviously, don’t change graphics settings when inside Earth Tower runs or during important times.
Have a great day!

I made a quick test…
First: v-synch on; doing a dun 180 run with someone, I got desynched after a couple mins, and I didn’t get any “auto-match re-enter” option after coming back – I hope the other guy’s run went fine; resuming the run alone, had horrible lag, everything out of synch, skills failing and so on…
Second: v-synch off; resuming the run, no more lag or desynch effects, finished the run perfectly
Result: I’ll leave v-synch off
Maybe that was just situational (but I checked and nothing like Windows or antivirus update was happening) and the option actually does nothing, but if it can minimize my desynch problems, I’ll gladly change that.
If you use NVidia, on its control panel -> ToS, you can probably enable Adaptive V-Sync and see how that works, on Windows I used to leave that enabled instead of game’s v-sync.
