1 Year Anniversary and only a Recruitment (New Player) Event, nothing for returnees, Is it still worth getting back to the game?

Hello everyone,

I am a founder and quitted ToS after a few months when it started due to so many issues and problems with the game. I have still been following their facebook fanpage and have been always reading their new updates which mostly seems nice although I can’t remember everything sadly.

I saw that there’s a Recruitment Event but its quite a bummer for founders like me because it requires a new account. I saw nothing for returnees too which is quite the disappointment considering they want more players.

So my question is, with everything considered above, is it still worth getting back into the game?

Thanks,
Dreamy

If you’re unsure maybe just wait for the stat and combat rework to be implemended. . If the game dont meet your standards after that, you may want to give up on it.
And while the recruit event is only for new accounts we usually have 1 or 2 events at any given time so if theres any intresting rewards you can see it may be worth giving it a shot

This stat/combat rework certainly has me intrigued. i want to see what happens.

Hey I just returned to TOS as well a few weeks ago. There were a few changes like transcendence systems (basically end game) and there were a ton of bug fixes that are gone but some still linger.
FPS optimization felt way better for me since obt and cbt. You don’t really have to grind now to 280 if you clear all the maps and the quests but the one thing i really like is that the number of bots is significantly reduced. I find myself addicted to TOS again. All the range of dungeons are altered and all give nice exp as well as mission. Party auto matchmaking is better than the bs system we had last time.

Oh and Swordies are now viable.
I say yes it is worth it to come back.

Just ask yourself a question.

Are you …
Hardcore? Is reaching endgame and doing 1337 DPS your goal?
Casual? Are you playing at your own pace?

If hardcore, find another game cos IMC will just continue sh1tting on you.

If casual, go ahead.

I’m sure everyone agrees.
Edit: events only good for casuals, hardcore players get nothing.

If your main account is really low leveled you might as well consider making a new account if you liked the new event so much.
Everyone said pretty relevant things so far I would just disagree a bit about dungeons, a lot of them improved A LOT but some 200+ ones are still pretty lame exp-wise (they say 290 is a god sent exp place tho, didn’t get to go there yet) BUT you can pretty much easily get to 330 only with quests, or so they say.

About the whole casual vs. hardcore, well, just think this game is still in a development phase (they promised lv 600 or 800 minimum and much more) so things can and WILL change A LOT(whole combat/stat/gear revamp coming soon), so if you can get frustrated cuz your build and gear were 100% the most OP and badass thing and then 6 months later it wasn’t the top sht anymore, yeah, don’t play it. But if you have fun by the fun and still searches games that provides fun and not a hardcore endgame, yeah, pretty sure you will have a great time getting back, everything is better and still improving and IMC is always listening to the playerbase and trying her best to give what we want.

But, well, in the end it’s just really up to you, I gave up on still resubbing WoW and playing LoL just cause I’m having much more fun on ToS right now with my friends.

Thanks everyone for replying, I will think about it.

i have to ask. is bdo really worth it now? i remember the game coming out a year ago and everyone getting bored and quitting it within a month due to cashgrab/no content/forced pvp. did they adjust these issues and add raid content and instances or something?

a year ago, hmm I think tat time still no awakening rite.
well if u at NA/EU region all class and awakening is out, grindin/farmin is easy unless u go to the super hotspot.

I’m playin the recent release tw ver so its kinda fresh. but yeah there still no dungeon/instance feature yet (even for kr). but hell I would rather play bdo than doin tree of dailies with alts.

btw talk about cash grab, I jz nid use the 200mil silver sold from tos and my life is so easy in bdo LOL.

I’ll go with my generic lines:

Try playing maybe for a few hours, then decide if your having fun or not.

great game if you like soloing. the moment other players are on your screen, it lags

Lol if you’re not playing FFXIV or doing something productive.

The end game has become:
Tree of Farming with an army of Alts.
That’s why there’s been the level up event and new acct promotion events.

Daily tasks have been reduced to:
Saalus run for blessed shards.
290 dungeon for silver
Uphill
Farming for some stupid debatable RNG/DPK/??? Material for 315 gear.

Basically if players don’t do their dailies, they lose out on being a competitive player. A lot of folks quit because the game became a chore rather than a game.

But hey, some players still find that fun.
Fyi commanderloadfail is getting overtaken by randomfail…

I’m almost not doing dailies and I’m still competitive.

It’s a truth that it’s too many dailies, when people says “there are fun things you can do in the game” we’re not saying “the chore of doing dailies” is the fun part. The fun part is playing with some friends, laughing at some random things, doing some TBL with people and getting fun/nice matches etc.

You know, things that only happens when you actually play the game instead of lurking in forums talking stuff when all you know about the game is what people like you keep complaining 24/7, lol.

TOS in a nutshell.
Should be added to the game description to show how silly the game has become.

"Is it worth to come back?"
Depends.

People are suggesting other games: Do you like those games?

  • My opinion: Honestly, I never really liked 3d-ish-too-realistic games. This is one of the reasons I still play. (Even tho the other games have better mechanics and gameplay).

Other type of people suggests: Why don’t you play a proper PvP game if you want to do PvP?

  • My opinion: I don’t want to do “pure PvP”. I don’t like MOBA games and stuff like that. I don’t care about being the competitive player trying to win against everyone. But I do want to have fun playing against people sometimes, also, not 24/7. ToS gives this a bit, even tho it’s broken, unbalanced and buggy. That’s why I stopped playing on my archer (too much investment) to play a full CON class, so I have more fun in matches than 1-shot fest and it’s more fun than before (also no unbalanced Missile Hole).

You simply must ask yourself if you will like the game in its current state even tho it have lot of bugs and issues. People who can’t will say for you to move on, people who can and still like the good parts of it will say for you to stay, no one is wrong. It’s just up to the person. If the game wasn’t worth of any player no one would be around.

It’s especially more complicated when people comes and starts suggesting games. I’m one kind of player that would recommend old school/indie games over nowadays 3d-ish and others. Like, I play an old school 2d RPG when I want to play something but don’t want to do things on ToS and for me that game is still most interesting than BDO. And to be honest, I’m still tempted to try FFXIV since I love FF series since childhood, but the entire thing lost the turn-based thing and the feeling that I had in the past.

Liking a game is subjective. Even more when the game is going through a lot of changes. It’s a fact that they are hiring more people and changing designs of the game. At least for now I’d recommend you to keep an eye for the changes that are coming in the next weeks/months. I won’t say they will magically add more content or change the entire gameplay, but for sure it will one step into making things a bit better and (I hope) less 1-shot fest in PvP and PvE.
