Steamspy has the peak concurrent population at 15,535 as of yesterday.
F2P will undoubtedly inflate this some, but judging by the less than optimal first month of early access, I foresee issues.
I believe there is no distinction between early access and F2P in whether the player base will be easily dissatisfied by some of the design choices, server stability, and poor service from IMC in general.
I predict that number may inflate by ~10,000 somewhere in the first week as it’s free to download and anyone who wanted badly enough to play it probably did buy a founder’s pack, so I’m not expecting something absurd like a 200% increase. Following the first month, I foresee a drop off to even further than the current ~15k concurrent peaks we have now.
After 2 months I would not be surprised if the game is pushing single digit thousands of concurrent players (which means ghost towns on off hours for most servers and locations in the game world).
It’s a real shame to have seen such a little gem fall so hard from grace.
