You do not need to know Korean to help

I see a lot of people worried that they cannot help with the translation due to not knowing Korean. Mostly everything is translated, regardless of being by machine or by hand. What is mostly left now is proofing and making sure everything makes sense.

Additionally, if github is intimidating to you, take a look at [tosbase’s web translator][1]. It’s incredibly simple and allows for you to easily hop to a random page and correct any confusing entries.

Let’s knock this out, people! The sooner it’s done, the sooner we’re playing :racehorse:

I plan on helping soon, just haven’t found the time. Once I learn GitHub a little I will work on cleaning up lines! Must. have. game. faster.

Interesting–never knew about this one @Sourpuss.

It’s a good shout-out especially for people like me who can’t help much with the actual translating, but would love to help.

kudos

ok lets go people :yum:

If you ARE using the ToSBase translator, please do NOT translate Item.tsv anything more than simple grammatical or spelling errors (do not change the meanings of any of the lines), I have personally gone through the file over two weeks and kept them as close to Korean as possible. When people switch it back I then have to RE-EDIT those lines and it’s pretty frustrating.

Yes, and this goes for all proper nouns. Although the wording for some map locations might be something like “Bridge of Yozyl,” don’t change it to “Yozyl’s Bridge.” Practically every other line in the item.tsv file is the item name, and therefore a pseudo-proper noun. Don’t touch them.

To add to people translating on ToS Base or GitHub. Try not to over complicate the text. This may be just my opinion but the less text used to explain an item, place, situation, etc., the better. Its a line by line thing to either add text or remove it so its up to people translating to determine what to do. But keep in mind a lot of this text will be in boxes or areas where it could possibly overcrowd or even flow outside just for the sake of over explanation. If an item has been sufficiently explained, try not add too much to the text.

Hello,

I am interested to help out in the translation text.
I can read Korean, but I cannot understand it unfortunately.
I have only the monster database and the translation documents to help me get into the right context (in my own persepctive, of course).
Sometimes I couldn’t make out what was translated, so I took liberty in adding a little bit of my own flavor using hints from the translated text (in English) and the Google translate of the Korean text.

I don’t think it is too far out of context, but I need someone to let me know if I am going the right direction.

My forked repository: https://github.com/yaoyangt/EnglishTranslation

I am committing my own version of translated text (in English) into my own repository. It would do me well if any translation moderators to have a look and tell me if my translation is good for a pull request.

Letting me know early will dictate how I will be making changes to the translated text in the future.

Lets make good effort to polish the game!
