Wow, ToS is still.. hanging in there

Hello ladies and gents! Ive stopped playing ToS for a long while now. Last time ive played was around november… i think. Anyway, i loved this game. But ultimately i saw it going nowhere but down.

What changed lately? Is there any clear sign of hope? The redemption we have all so long have been waiting for? Really wanna give it a second shot if everythings ok now.

Things are much better than they were, but these forums are filled with doomsayers so don’t expect too much positivity.

-Alot of the rank8+ maps had the mobs nerfed so they can be killed easier and deal less damage.
-Some classes, like cannoneer got huge buffs.
-There is a level up event with great rewards going on now.
-Hunting grounds were released, which can drop some neat items with up to 4 slots!

The game is slowly getting better, but IMC still take bad decisions. However, it’s much better than november FOR SURE (except for gvg, maybe).

There is still a lot of crap to be sh*tty about but the most recent update is a clear sign (IMHO) that “we are allowed to hope”, namely hunting grounds.

Here are some effects and implications of HG’s:

  • it is another alternative to leveling up. It doesn’t beat warlock leeching, but it is something you can do and is supported by the tavern lv system we have in place (more alts = more kill xp).
  • the loot is “good” in that they drop often enough AND they drop “along side” xp. It’s no longer just “do this for xp do that for loot”. It can now be both. Make no mistake, not all of them are good. Math will eventually dictate which pcs are bis and which are trash, but they all have “some value” anyway since they drop so often. The trash gear is awesome gem xp.
  • the spawn rate is good. All you have to know is it is way better than the abysmal spawn rates in the regular maps. Mob density is good too.

This doesn’t fix core issues, but it’s a QoL thing that I like.

Well, I think the core issue is still on IMC Developer Department.
They are either too defensive or shy, even I feel there is communication gap between GM and Devs.
Is not that they are not enough resources, but lack of well-thought plan and experience on the planning stage do wasted them a lot of resources.

There are still many bugs not resolved there are still many classes balance & usables not resolved, bad designs and mechanics not redesigned. Usually in other game it should taken most 2-3 months to address, but we see very minimal and slow in ToS.

Last time Balance Talk we thought it would be a good starting but until now already 2 months there are no update blog about other classes and we started to feel stagnant again. There are still many classes need some loves from developers, especially Bokor/Alchemist/Sorcerer/Necro AI related and we foresee it still doomed and I think they will rushing release of Rank9 in Q3 (1yr from Rank8) by abandoned them.

I actually think that the series of updates over the past few weeks is doing great and has good impact on the play-ability of the game, which kind of helps a lot in player retention. Not everyone are at end game level as of yet, there are still plenty of players who are in midst of questing/grinding their way up and the patches helps in keeping such players happy.

Introduction of Hunting grounds

This addresses a number of problems like gear variety and ways for players to grind for experience. There are more intermediate gear choices now for players to use while they are grinding/farming to their BiS items, which is really great.

Hunting grounds also provide a good source of gem fodder which makes creating mid (lv4-6) level gems easier, which in turn makes it easier to break into the R8 content.

Change of item drops/ DPK

I can say this is one of, if not the best change in the past patch. It makes grinding/farming for items more worthwhile now, since drops are pretty much more random than a fixed 200 or 500/600 dpk previously. It also solves the dpk kill stealing problem.

Balances in R8 monster defences and hp

I really like this one, with this new players and rerollers will have a much smoother transition to R8 content.

Currently my Hacka (hacka project) is solo questing in R8 content, mainly with gear farmed from HG, mid level gems (lv4 and 5) and 0 transcended gear. It is really great to see what is previously a huge wall is now doable now, transition from R7 maps to R8 feels really smooth and natural without that huge shock of high damage, high def, high hp monsters felt when R8 was first implemented in Oct2016. Really appreciate the great balancing work done by IMC, thank you.

These came up with the last update only.
It’s not like it’s here since 1 year and every update contained so much good content it made this player come back.

For sure things are better, but don’t act like they always were there or this game is perfect and all the criticism (I insist on criticism and not empty of reason bashing) is wrong, because it clearly isn’t.

Mwanwhile the numbers still drop despite the level up event. because many still remember all the crap IMC spewed last year unlike some here who pretends nothing bad happened. Add the fact that core gameplay and engine issues are still not fixed.

The best ToS can hope for is to keep their existing players
Because they sure as heck are not attracting any new ones, and even though they have added some stuff lately to appease existing players such as the hunting grounds there is still the same problems that drive people away from first impressions.
Needing to be level 40 to use the market
Needing to wait a few days if your account is new
Have to have a token to trade or use storage
Not being able to do your quests because some high level is there afk and killing everything on the map
This is the kinda stuff that drives new players away, and unless it gets fixed you will never see an increase in numbers except for major updates like r9 when maybe old players come back for a while.

i couldn’t care less about the event, i quit because it was going no where and only visit here to read about complaints lol

i hate the idea of being forced to play a full con build to be viable in pvp just because some stupid spells deal ridiculous damage.

field bosses need to be buffed to prevent high levels from soloing it, i enjoy mmos with world bosses but tree of savior doesn’t offer that.

drop system apparently got 3x worse than it already was according to the players complaining about no drops after 900 kills,

the only thing attractive this game has to offer is the graphics but that isn’t going to keep the new players interested for long when the game has so many flaws driving the players away…

I didn’t, I just said that you act like this is the case, not that you say it nor think it is, think of it as an aggravation. About the criticism :

I’m used to see everyone, or if you still want to get picky on words, a lot of players that complains or tries to give negative feedback is flagged as a hue, doom, or whatever.

If it is not how you were thinking it, then it is fine.

Fedimian is at 10% power, when you log in it feels like you know everyone because of how few we are.

ToS change alot, its totaly diffrent from november, especially the population

I guess if you consider 40 actual people playing on Klaipeda, 15 on Orsha and 800 BRs on the SA servers “hanging in there” then yep, its doing that for sure.

Lets not forget what you also got for spending hard earned money on this raging dumpster fire for a year, a firecracker, thats right, I just typed that. IMC, please take your bottle rocket, light it, and stick it in your as*, thanks as always.
