Worries about social aspects of the game...(fast travel, group finder etc)

That isn’t abuse, it is intended use of the game feature. If they don’t want players to do that, they can simply give a single chance, ask the players if they want to teleport back to the NPC after completing the quest, prevent them from moving or doing anything else, if players choose not to, the chance is gone. That’s how FFXIV does it, & that is intended use. In this case, you may or may not agree with the dev’s decision & design, but it’s still not abuse unless the dev themselves say it is. It’s not your call, bro.

Regarding to the @jordanburkex 's concern, it’s actually alot easier to make friends in this game, due to its grindy nature, you must party up with people & grind at certain spots, even for days. So it’s natural for you to stay in contact with several familiar faces who can give you grinding benefits (linker/healer/…) throughout your entire leveling process. When the mobs die out or the team sit down to recover, people start chatting about random things & know each other better. This was how people make friends in older MMOs, and Steam’s social system even adds much more to it.

@kyo_asakura90 ofc i understand that it is not my call.

but let me ask you this, are you one of the developers themselves? if you are not. what right do you have in saying that THAT “ISNT ABUSE IT IS A INTENDED USE”. how are you so certain that the devs think it is a good idea to have you teleported somewhere away from a battlefield when you are facing danger and about to die with a click of button with no cost or restriction what so ever.

from my post i said CAN be abused. which is what I FEEL about the mechanic so far. i PERSONALLY feel that there can be improvement to the mechanism being used so far. and thats why i commented in hope of someone who makes the calls to see.

i dont understand where this obvious statement such as ITS NOT YOUR CALL BRO comes from

I have the right to call it intended use because that’s how it is currently designed. They made a system for the purpose of fast travelling, without any limits, & the teleporting animation lasts 2 seconds, & you’re allowed to use it in combat. So it’s pretty obvious that’s the dev’s decision of design. And as far as I can see, no one else complaining about it but you, & since you’re not the majority, I can be pretty sure that feature won’t be changed anytime soon.

Just because a system make the game more convenient doesn’t mean it’s abuse. But weather it is balanced or not is an entirely different matter.

so having something already designed is the definition of perfection now?
no thats why we point out things.
SO because no one else pointed it out. that means i should keep quiet is that right?
im not slightly being bothered by this perfect convince that they created.
i just wanted to point out somethings they might not be aware of BECAUSE NOONE ELSE POINTED OUT
i dont understand you at all

People already pointed it out as a trick to finished quests faster, but the thing is, they took it as a good thing, a convenient system to move around the linear maps. Remember that the maps in ToS are just small corridors leading to bigger room & then corridors again leading to another room, not an open field like normal MMOs, that’s why they make a fast travelling system to make it easier, prevent player from unnecessary running between faraway points. Not to mention the game require players to go back to town to do various things, more than other MMOs as well. So it’s still normal to let them teleport right back to the quest NPC.

As far as I can see, it’s convenient, & you accuse me of abusing the game. So I spoke up. Problem?

no no no
no problem at all.
but the way that you spoke up was simply… the game is completely without a doubt the perfect game from development’s point of view because it is how the game is currently designed. there is absolutely no abuse or misused of any existing mechanics because it is the way the game is currently designed. therefore it is pointless to say something absurd such as oh this teleporting system can be used as a tool for something else. because obviously i intended for it to happen because i created it.

Well, I only said that’s how the dev designed it, because it’s kinda obvious if you use some common sense to think about it. I never said everything is perfect, I did clearly say “weather it is balanced or not is an entirely different matter”.

But unless it’s something that really breaks the game balance like the Z button, you can say people abuse it to afk farming all day long without actually playing the game. But let’s stick to this subject alone, the fast travelling system is use for…well… fast travelling, you can even teleport to your pt member’s current quest NPC, not just the quests that you have finished alone. Its purpose is to be convenient, tell me again how players are using it for any other different unintended purposes?

FF XI was hardly social, and forced you to walk to places that could get you easily killed at to find a party. Why would anyone want to experience that again? >_>

@Senpaikunchanperson FFXI was extremely social within FC’s. The danger of travel in that game really leant itself to cultivating good relationships. People were always coming to travel with you from point A to B to make sure you got through it safely. And when you made friends you did a lot to help each other because you knew you were always going to need help down the line.

@kyo_asakura90 Thanks for addressing my question haha. If the game really does require lots of grinding with groups (I cant tell yet, some people say you can solo the whole way?) then that is good as youll probably keep friends that way.

@OtterTamer What I meant by the searching for groups is that searching for them in different areas with the chat function seems more organic to me, and you’re much happier to find people searching for something you need to do, so you quickly take the oppurtunity to group with them, and then once you do you take care of eachother and communicate because the chance to find somebody doing those quests or boss or whatever might not come around again for awhile.

Again, a party finder isn’t a game killer to me, it just seems a little unnatural. All Im really saying is I havent played a truly social MMORPG in almost 15 years. As most of us know, most MMORPG’s post vanilla WoW really cater to the single player experience. And I don’t play MMORPG’s for a single player experience because they will never be as good as single player games.
