Wizard auto attack based build? (Chronomancer)

I was thinking of making a wizard where in it’s damage comes from auto attacks. For now i have some questions like which type of weapon should i use and if this skill build and which stats should i invest on in order to viable as a dps.

I got a better title for you…

" Wizard Suicide masochist build"

His idea is:
Slow: Chronomancer’s speed buffs
Non-AoE: other wiz spells?
Int: Wiz auto-attack are magic, so it use Int.

Now let’s discuss the probabilities.

EDIT: remove the link’s stuff, my mistake.

This is known as the Magical Knight build. I believe it’s stated somewhere before in another thread belonged to the mage master (I forgot his username).

You would use a wizard blade, or Arde Dagger for dual wield. I’m not sure about that stats build. Does INT affect the auto attack damage? It doesn’t feel so to me. I recall someone mentioned only weapon affect wizard’s auto attack too, but we need a test to verify it. I guess you would like stats in CON for survival and DEX for evasion.

Wizx3 is chosen for the extra 50% damage given by quick cast.

Ya this whole build is a for fun build. It may not be as strong as other class, but is certainly fun to see.

Note in the build that he didn’t even take any 2nd or 3rd wiz circle skills. Even if he did, I still think a Linker would benefit much more than a 3rd wiz or Thaumaturge - AoE whacking is fun too.

He probably didn’t realize it. Though it really depends what kind of Magical Knight you want to be.

Imo levelling lethargy above level 1 is kinda pointless.

Do you want to make an auto attack build based on the magical shot Z, or the melee staff C??

Either way, your build is bad for both of them. If you answer the question above I may help you with a better path/skill point alocation.

Magic never misses.

That weapon has magic damage so yes.

That’s a fun idea! I would get Psycho early and as a rank 4 the Thaumaturge for the buffs. Also as Thaumaturge you can get the skill that trades INT for CON, would be usefull when you need more survivability.

So I would go Wiz > Wiz or Cryo> Psycho > Thauma> Chrono> Chrono

Either way it seems really fun!

I was thinking on that yesterday.

I really wish they could melee…casting energy spheres during basic attacks using either sword or hammer looks ridiculous. What’s the point?

The build I hear most when this topic comes up is:
Wizard-Pyromancer-Linker-Thaumaturge-Thaumaturge-Chronomancer

I’d strongly suggest a level in Linker, as it makes your auto attacks into AoE.

Pyro’s Enchant Fire actually causes a second ‘attack’ that deals pure fire damage. I haven’t seen direct proof, but I’ve heard that the Thaumaturge damage buffs will stack onto that extra fire attack, and thus be twice as effective.
Works the same as that one amazing priest skill, just weaker.
Pyro also makes leveling much, much easier early on.

The only melee attacks wizards have available are two-handed staves, with terrible damage, or off hand daggers which are alright.

c2 thaumage has a buff for +220 physical/magic damage if you use a dagger, and lets you dump Int for Con without worry. Plus Reversi looks like a really fancy skill.

How to mix thaum and chrono? Dunno.
c1 thaum c2 chrono is ~218 damage, 300 attack speed and 25% crit,
c2 thaum c1 chrono is ~480 damage, 150 attack speed and 25% crit.
c3 thaum is ~560 damage and +145 int

Note that the crit only matters to you if you are using the dagger melee swing, as crit does not effect magic damage.

It seems like wiz c3 thau c1 chrono c2 give the best damage.

matk + 218 damage, with 3x aspd, and all these amplified by 1.5x

Unless the pure fire damage by enchant fire give an extra damage of more than 109 + 0.5x your matk, wiz c3 is better.

I know in terms of aoe damage and skill, pyro and linker is better, but if you are going for pure auto attack, wiz c3 is better. The benefit of linker and enchant fire can be obtained from teammate anyway.

Enchant Fire supposedly works like Sacrament, where the different element bonus hit is boosted by other skills that boost basic attack. Like Concentrate and Steady Aim, and maybe Swell left/right arm.

Ideally, it would be giving you an extra 500 if you went thaum 2

pyrox2-thaumx3 is beast right now. 600 extra damage on each tick of anything plus 60% on top of it on swell body. Almost feels like highbarb.
The downside?
Silly gag animations.
