Will you volunteer for a "bot hunt"?

If for example there are ‘bot polices’…

They are volunteers who help hunt bots and maintain justice (ooh). Well, basically they will filter bot reports from all players and make life easier for everyone.

  • Players can apply as a police. There will be a minimum RII (Report Influence Index) requirement (or e.g. top 50 applicants).
  • Polices have report priority / very high RII.
  • Polices shall respond to bot report calls (shout, or better yet a special report chat channel). Then with certain procedure – observe, chat, screenshot – they will report the bot.
  • Polices are rewarded for the number of banned bots. TP, Items, accessory, exp tome, costume, etc. Win-win.
  • Something like title might be necessary to give credentials (prevent impersonation)

Then officials only need to manual check much fewer issues:

  • Polices who abuses system will ke stripped of title and RII reset (maybe temp ban). Accident false report will be solved via chat together with GM, showing log, screenshot, etc.
  • “Inactive polices” will be reviewed by GM and stripped of title if necessary.

Will you volunteer as a bot police?

  • Yes! Count me in!
  • Nah, leave it to IMC

This will never work. A great example would be MapleWatch Leaf Brigade and Maple Leaf Council.

Nah … online volunteer is hard … but if imc live next door … or even if is 5 hour commute to our house … hell yeah … i can ask the to make me temp gm …
Sole purpose is to ban bot …
( well they can pay me talts per genuine bot i ban

The only solution I see is a highly efficient filter that will completely eliminate spaming bots. This way their “effort” would go to waste.

If someone is very bored, you can always try to DDoS those sites that are selling gold, instead of attacking server… :slight_smile:

nah u are all correct.

problem is i dont think imc has money and resource to buy or make a bot detection algorithm.

it’s more like just to buff the current bot report system (and psychological placebo). cos now we never know if the system is actually working or not and it’s only making ppl more frustrated.

I don’t think anyone here really understands how hard it is to even get IMC to respond to a specific bot. Please take a few minutes, go to the bot reports section of the forums, and in the search box enter; Snowdance, Majie, and Momohime.
I created roughly 60 threads over the last 13 weeks just in regards to those 3 bots, I had GMs respond several times over those 13 weeks and no bans or restrictions of any kind were occurring.
Finally after about wk9 or so IMC staff banned Snowdance, but ignored the other 2. During wk11 GM Durian made his 4th appearance on Klaipeda, and yes that’s not an exaggeration, I have over 1,100 hours logged on that server, was only his 4th trip. During the 1-2 hours he was online I used over 18 megaphones insisting he come to Vedas Plateau to ban Majie, he finally did.
Once again, Momohime still escaped. It was only this past week (13) that IMC finally caved to the pressure of my final Momohime compilation thread and banned her.
Every mmo has bots, ofc, but I have never seen a company as neglible as IMC when it comes to dealing with them. You can report a bot with an hour of documented video evidence, have 50 friends report them in-game and it will still take 2 months to get them banned if you are lucky.

I stopped at “polices are rewarded”.

Volunteers shouldn’t be remunerated in any way. Seriously, AeriaGames tried this with their glorious “Game Sages” and I’ll tell you… It was a mess.

They sell cheap materials and the reason why some of the bosses spawn, so that’s a NO for me :slight_smile:
