How would that work?
I’m glad you asked!
After killing a random mob, the player would phase to those “cutscene-like” views, where a Goddess or w/e would come to check if the heart of the Revelator isn’t corrupted, or w/e.
What if the player is fighting a boss? Or in a dungeon?
No, it wouldn’t happen, it can only happen while fighting normal mobs outside dungeons, and if the player isn’t on those time based quests.
Or even in a duel.
Isn’t there a way that a bot user could exploit that?
Dunno, make so player doesn’t receive loot from mobs while on those time based quests or in a duel.
And what would happen?
A simple “captcha” would appear, interacting with a statue, a fake mob, a cardbox, again, w/e, I’m not creative myself.
What happens if the player solves the captcha?
After succeding, the player would receive something like: 100x the EXP for killing that mob, 100x the silver for killing that mob, both, a kiss on the cheek… you get the point. Something like those shiny mobs that flashes blue, white or yellow.
After every success, the chance of that happening again would decrease.
Wouldn’t that restrain, annoy or make players mad?
The point is that to make the player feel rewarded for doing a task that would otherwise feel annoying.
It works on “sim games”, I mean, why would you spent hours of your day doing hard labour in a game when you could do this on your real life?
Because you feel rewarded after those flashy images appears and you level up, receive fake cash, etc…
Okay, but what if the player fails?
If, the player actually fails, he would receive a debuff that makes him receive 0 loot from mobs, but increases the chance that he would be tested again, failling X amount of times would sent him to the limbo, purgatory, prison, hell, to a family dinner when he would rather be playing MMOs all night.
And… stays there for like, 24 hours… or forever…
Haven’t like, a thousand players suggested similar things?
I believe so, yes, because it works!
Please, hear us, the players!
If it DOESN’T work, you can blame on those other 1.000 peeps.
