Why the taxes are good

Have you ever wondered why we have 50% taxes on squires? Why there’s taxes on market? Why a rank 7 attribute costs over 70 million silver? Here’s a little video explaining why.Even though its focus is on World of Warcraft and Eve,most of it explain why those taxes are good. After the video, there’s a little text explaining my points of view.

Why is it good for the Squires taxes? They can virtually generate infity silver for its owner so taxing it eliminate a good part of it from the game thus reducing the purchase power of the player. Why is it good?It means that sweet pentaminium you’re trying to buy will be cheaper. If we had 0% taxes, the value of repairs may decrease but there would be no silver removed from the game which would make virtually everything more expensive. The same applies to death penalties and attributes as explained in the video. We can virtually generate infinite silver with farming so those sinks are more than welcome and make the game easier for newcomers to begin their adventures and cheaper for veterans to maintance their gear updated or stronger. So what about the trade restrictions?Well,it gives trades less value an dforces us to either use talts or the market. If we trade for talts,we either make the item untradeable or we have to purchase a token for the trade. One side we generate incoming for the game or exchange game money for it thus removing silver from the game.If we make the item untradeable,it removes completely its market value forcing the owner to keep it or sell to a npc without making the equipement piece any weaker. It keeps its stats power but it is unable to be traded making an even bigger sinker than the market. Some may argue that those methods are to combat bots and RMTers…they aren’t wrong. It also decrease how much silver is put in the market. What’s the point of a 100 million silver in a bot if it won’t be used in the market but, instead,be sold for real money. The value of the silver decreases and the ammount inject in the market is reduced due to taxes. It’s a win system.Reducing the ammount of silver in game also reduces the final price of it making that sweet sweet pentaminium you want cheaper and the game easier for newcomers to begin their market live. That little 10 silver you dropped earlier,it has a bigger value than the little 10 silver pieces you would drop with a non-tax,free trade system.

Hope it clear some thoughts for those who doesn’t like the taxes and all.

Either way, after token players have a 10% tax in market, and free players have 30% tax in market, 50% tax on everyone for some repairs is obnoxious.

Get good aoe killer, get to a good money leeching place. Farm until your brains come out, you can get 70m in about 175 hours.

Or you can do it the easy way, buy tokens and sell them.

Or roll a class that isn’t insanely expensive.

Animus is 10 mil because it’s an ultra rare item. The same thing applies to all MMO, not just TOS.

Btw, 50k an hour or 50k every 3 hours after you subtract costs?

I don’t think that’s the only reason why the taxes are at a high 50%. The primary reason of having such a high 50% tax is preventing bots from consolidating their silver efficiently.

In a 0% tax world, a squire opening a shop can set prices as high they want, then bots can “purchase” the service again and again to transfer the silvers over to the squire account without any repercussions or drop in silver amount. 10%-30% probably wun have such an impact to such bot organisations. Hence the high 50% which I think is really too high for players like us.

Perhaps when IMC has implemented a much better bot control system, the tax can be lowered so that everyone wouldn’t feel the pinch in requiring squire/pardoner/alchemist services anymore.

Well, dungeon and mission runs are there for exp and cubes but not for silver. I prefer to rush for the cubes, less hassle. Siaulai mission is easy unless you are underleveled

Yeah, I agree. Find a mobby map and start killing mobs seem more fun than missions.
