Why So Many Fencers/What are your Fencer builds?

I dont even like SAO to be honest and shes really not a fencer, she just uses a rapier.
I take a weaponry class IRL and my weapon of choice is a Rapier.
Thats why i play a Fencer o the closest thing to it in every game i play.
And thats why I’ve spent countless hrs trying to optimize fencer as much as possible in this game.
Asuna has nothing to do with it for me and quite a few others that i know.

It’s not a bad class, it’s just an hybrid class.

It’ll never do as much damage as Doppelsoedner against a group of monsters, but it has better survivability, at least against physical attacks.

Fencer though looks like a half-dps/evasion tank to me. Its numbers are not impressive.

its skill DMG wouldn’t actually be a bad thing if Rapiers weren’t so weak…

Its like Fencer needs STR and DEX to be effective and its hard to stack both together and b effective.

While some have resorted to opting out of Fencer c2 to get more dmg from another class
Usually being Doppel for DOV and Cyclone, STR build on fencer could net you some rally high dmg especially on a Barb build.

the problem with this is that the Fencer kit is focused around NOT taking dmg which Doppel is focused on taking hits and getting stronger from them.

Honestly a class with a STR or physical attack buff that can be kept up near 100% of the time like Finestra would have fixed fencer.

I still hope we can get something that can evade magic attacks at Fencer C3 (wishfull thinking)

Fingers crossed for Matador.
If IMC continues to research as well as they have with Fencer, thn Matador should be another rapier class with heavy CC and mobbing, or Great buffs.

Final Fencer Build? v.8 (waiting for fencer c3 skills, need a skill reset...

My build atm.

I just took 3 circles of highlander to max skill dmg, get the bleeding debuff and get armor break, since i don’t plan to do pvp with this build i didn’t take wagon wheel ( it’s taken for pvp cuz of the cc ).
Corsair just for the jolly roger and dust devil ( might get corsair c2 for rank 8 for hexen dropper since its a pierce attack)
and fencer c2 for skill dmg , preparation and ataque composee since it will be my main spam ability. (I know that highlander is not that great at c2 and c3 but i think that the damage output is worth and armor break helps at bosses)

The thing is… becuase Fencer is an EVA tank with slightly weak DPS type class you kinda want something to complement tanking…
So Ied recommend picking up Paltasta at C1 then going for Highlander c3 over corsair c1 especially since you don’t want to pvp and thats mainly what C1 corsair is for…

Other then that, the armor break is really just going to be for you slash attacks

yup, indeed i will be using it for this + leveling up with highlanderc3 is just too easy.

I didn’t take peltasta mainly because i don’t really like tanking (ful dps build)
I know i won’t make as much as an archer or a mage but i’ll still deal some good damage

ehhh… on top of playing a class build for tanking in he fist place, its kinda hard to find a party for dungeons as a DPS swordie after lvl 200 unless your a Dragoon…

If you want a full DPS build, why are you going Fencer ?

You class choices till rank 5 are screaming “Doppel”

I’ll get fencer because it fits me more, and it’s a class i want to play so it’s just my personal choice, you could change both circles of fencer for doppel to deal more damage if you want
