I cannot speak for SEA, but in the biggest country from SA the cost was around 4 times higher compared to our wages. With the 50% discount IMC gets half the revenue per item and we still have half the budget power.
Another thing is that some other countries have regional prices as well. In Russia the price gets 75% discount, but IMC changed to set the same price for the entire server, to prevent abuse and discrepancy. But it’s in place for many other products.
Actually, there were many games being sold for the same currency amount in NA and EU, so NA was paying a lower price, right?
All in all, this is an universal thing about adapting to each market. IMC started selling different packs for each server exactly to prevent those problems, now each server has all people paying exactly the same. And russians are probably screwed by this, but well 
Just to add some information to the post:
Yearly minimum wage in USA $15,044 ( at least the one put by the feds)
Yearly minimum wage in BR $2,632
that’s quite a gap.

Wow. I just learned I almost make the equivalent to USA’s minimum wage on what’s considered a job with a nice pay in Brazil. 
You do know that life expenses are not the same as well.
I was focused on average income, which from what I see now I was wrong as well. 
Anyway, this makes it even worse.

Honestly, other region packs should not even be visible to people outside the region, similar to beginner and veteran packs, and pretty much most games on steam.
My guess was they were trying to accomodate people who didnt transfer server, ie klai/orsha to fedimian/telsial/silute, so they can get TPs.
Gotta remember that if you are seeing the value in USD. It’ll obviously be cheaper…

Since we don’t actually get payed more just because our money has less value, it’s only natural that the price for us is only relevant for our country.
I’m taking BRL as an example here because it’s the one I know about. I do know that other LATAM currencies are not as valuable as the USD.

That’s the price for SA packs in BRL. Cheaper if payed in dollars, but the same for us here in Brazil.
NA/EU packs costs around 125 BRL for us. :3
Btw, this is not a situation like USD / JPY.
Technically BRL and USD should have the same weight.
As a tiny European country, my avg. wage per hour is 1.85 EUR=2.06469 USD.
Example - Diesel per liter : in the USA 0,61 $; in Latvia 1,01 $.
From my own experience while being in NYC - clothing is a lot cheaper. Indeed the quality at most time is worse too but overall you are exposed to a lot bigger market, having the prices lowered.
Rent is higher, but the overall help from goverment is way bigger too, help for the elderly, medicine, tax refunds.
So even Europe shold be divided in wealthier and less fortunate regions.
And what you just say make you what then?
First world problems. Go get a job in those poorer countries and tell me how you plan to pay for this game at full USD price.
It’s been communicated enough times, with enough explanations. If you’re still set that you should be paying lower prices, take a tour around those places in the world and see what life is like there.

All players need to pay the same $ for the same product un the same game .if not then the servers paying more need to get more.
Things like this is what creat hate and killing the community.
