Why put ridiculous restriction when you can improve security?

The game is too “DEFENSELESS” atm … every hacker is trying out all of their little tricks in the game ( I bet they’re experimenting all kinds of exploits beisdes botting ) since the games defense system is almost non existent …

If you can do that in an hour go to the botter scene. The money you would earn in 5-6 hours is what others make in years

To clarify you dont even need to write a bot. Just take a bot base and write plugins. People already pay 100€ + if you deliver them a route from a to b without getting stuck.

That’s not true at all. Now you’re just making things up.

Not true about what?
Don’t be an ass here and just reply that what Im saying is not true so just you have a counter argument.

He must be talking about macros thats why he can make a bot in an hour. haha.

Just wanna let you know that this argument backfires on your ass, because just about all modern, popular games have anti hack measures instead of third rate things like captchas.
Do you know what else modern, popular games dont have? A GAMEPLAY RIDDLED WITH RESTRICTIONS ON BASIC FUNCTIONS TO “SUPPOSEDLY” BATTLE ■■■■■■■ BOTS.

Here is the thing: No player should ever care why any game’s any dev is restricting the game into oblivion because they suck too many snowballs to fix up a just mildly effective anti bot/hack system.
Just because i know that they are incapable, it wont make their restrictions easier on me and my friends, or anyone who plays the game.
So while you are arguing here why and how nothing should be implemented because “SOME” people could work around it, how about just adding SOMETHING for starters which could at least ward off SOME bots?

PLUS: everyone pushing the nirvana fallacy claiming that if we cant do 100% of something then we should do nothing can screw off.

Yeah, like riddling your ■■■■■■■ game with restrictions on all its functions because you are too incapable to consider alternatives or counters for it.
Remember the time when ruining the game for your actual players was an effective method to counter botting?
Well, neither do i.

P.s.: Nothing against you or your person tzxazrael, so take my rage rant with a grain of salt. Im merely getting really fed up with all the stupidity on these forums.

ignore him. look at all his activity he argues with every thread.

The best way to stop bots is at the root: the netcode/packets, bot programs work by reading the packets sent to/from the server, if you encrypt these with a cipher that changers constantly, bot programs won’t work since they won’t be able to crack it due to how often it changes. If the bot program cannot read the packets being recieved, it cannot work. For the uninformed, bot programs work by intercepting the packets sent from the game server, and simulating ones sent back, these programs do not even need the game client installed to run. Automatic bot checks and capchas will only go so far or work for so long, to really get rid of them you have to do something about the packets themselves.

Then again if they had 1 gm go thru certan zones once a day, they’d nail probally hundreds of bots, because its reallly obvious which people are bots and which aren’t. Most bots have a random as hell name and are almost always one of the 2 handed sword swordman classes, at least all the low level bots tend to be these.

It takes arguments to argue. If you wanna ignore that, then it tells a lot more about you than it does about me.
Just wanted to point that out. Feel free to continue.

this was actually the point i was making.
i didn’t say “show me a game with any kind of anti-bot system”… i said “show me a POPULAR game with WELL DONE CAPTCHA”.

my POINT is that captcha is a stupid way to fight bots, in response to everyone arguing “hey we need a captcha on this, that, the other thing, and on my grandma’s welfare checks.”

this is one way that some bot programs work. the majority of bot programs are simply “overlays” of the normal game client, and just send clicks to the game interface and respond to things they can “see” on the screen, same as normal players.

as for a constantly changing cipher… i don’t think military grade encryption is really necessary, nor would it be likely to work well. clients aren’t permanently attached, so how would they get the first cipher when they log in, while still preventing bots from getting it the same way?

yea, they’d ban tons of accounts… fake ghost accounts, created by botters with fake info and fake credit cards, which would make the problem -look- better, but actually solve nothing, because then the botters will just make more accounts and start farming again.

Because when they do capcha or anything g like that it gets abused by some lil sh!ts on the internet who think they’re funny

There is always a way around a bit detection system.

Restrictions are stopgap to try and prevent the bots purpose: nailing the RMT buyers

“improve security”

You make it sound so easy
