Tree of Savior Forum

Why is this community so toxic?

Im aware the small, vocal minority in most games are usually the ones who behave poorly, but why is it that so many forum-users here are so agressive and ill mannered?

This game isnt the type that inspires agression or competition in the first place. Whats the issue?

Welcome to the Internet.

I’m pretty sure almost all MMOs start this way, especially the ones (aka majority of all) with a bit of a rocky start

This environment doesnt make sense. I can name a half dozen pvp focused games that are less hostile.

@Mystio you have a point, but most of the toxicity is in regard to other players, rather than the diffuculties the game has.

No actually, I play PvP focused games too.

And for some reason at the start, again they are very aggressive and hostile towards each other

Too much experience of playing online multiplayer video games in life time.

Can confirm almost all have the same community as of recent.

Only had 1 troll in my posts since i’ve joined the forums and i’ve posted a lot. Also people are aways nice to me ingame, no i’m not a girl. Maybe the problem is with you, some people have a thing with trolls lol.

Well… IT IS!!! All this Lagg/Rubberbanding and dc making people angry/crazy.
(I should have a ping of ~40, living like 90-100km away from the Eu-server location. But somehow I get like ~110. Its almost as bad as in the NA server… I kinda find it frustating)

No really… IDK. I encountered a lot of missbehavior and insulting. IG and in the forums.
Its really sad.

There’s a number of reasons for your impression, but I would like to know which games specifically you are referring to as good, normal, and ill-mannered.

  1. This is a f2p game, and forum account creation is extremely easy and free. Compare this to other MMOs like FFXIV, where the active posters need to have an active subscription, and you cut off most of the noise made by angry or players who have quit the game. LoL is an example of a f2p game that has an extremely toxic forum. They added on more constructive sections, but the player complaints and trolling is still there. It’s just drowned out by the sheer volume of other players.

  2. You have a lot of players sharing the same map, hunting the same monster; where loot and exp is based off how much damage you do and who gets the last hit. If you see how competitive some WoW “world first” raid guilds are, and make it so that all the guilds had to compete with each on not just the sub-bosses but also the progression items needed to get to kill the raid boss, and where anyone could sabotage each other’s progression by KSing and ninja’ing the loot… and you’d see that this IS super-competitive pve.

  3. Take the above competition and add in bots, server lag, and a slow grind (assuming you mess up a build), and it’s expected people will take out some of their frustration either in-game or on the forums.

Ignore and move on. Usually you can tell if the post is gonna be an immature person by the first few lines. Ignore those posts and the forum seems like a pretty peaceful place to me.

Edit: I do have to do some extra ignoring in General Discussion however

OP hasn’t played most anime-themed MMORPGs for at least 6 months each. That said, FFXIV’s community is pretty toxic if you do end-game content such as Alexander and coils. Don’t get me started on how toxic Aeria Games and Entertainment’s community is.

Any place that they allow you to be anonymous behind a fake name, they’re gonna say whatever they can get away with because they know there is 0 repercussions for their poor behavior. That is the internet in a nutshell.

The trick to that is ignore them. The only power they get is your reaction. Give them nothing and they have nothing. Report, ignore, block.

It’s only going to get worse as the years go on, better learn now how to combat it.

They’re called. Keyboard warriors.
Played enough mobas that I actually acquired an ability to not give a damn and juat enjoy the game as is.
