I have a Linker as main and like to play my other 2 Healers. But I like to play Archer. So my Alt is one.
I am really carefull NOT to ks people.
Mob has low HP: better look if there is a player around
someone stays on a spot waiting : better go somewhere else/ another ch
someone is attacking: better go around
IF I ks people it is always without intention… It may happen with laggs and Oblique Shot.
I say sorry to the Person.
BUT!!! I hate it that I get ks’ed like no tommorw from some people (Looking at you warrior/Barbs) just because I am a “Bow-Player”
Ks ist not right, never, but it can happen.
When people ks all the time, its because they WANT to.
And whats with always Pk, PK, PK … Make 1 PK channel, but leave me ( a 100% pve player) be T-T please…
Not fun to get pk’ed on support builds!!! Or from people 1xx level above yours.
As an archer, I also get KS’ed a lot by any of the 4 classes. The problem isn’t the class, it’s the player. Why be specific?
Also, some skills like oblique shot will sometimes unintentionally hit other mobs, and holding the AA button sometimes would make the character automatically switch to the next nearest target as soon as the current one dies.
It’s not YOUR experience. You must be new to the MMO scene so I will enlighten you. If you see a monster first does not mean you have claim. Entering a room or simply existing in a space does not entitle you to everything within. Going by general MMO social guidelines, if you have enmity/hate or have damaged a monster, then you have claim. Your restaurant analogy is completely ludicrous as they’re not eating your food, they simply came to the restaurant to eat food. You have your food(claimed) and they’re going to go eat(claim) some of their own.
If a Magic Missile of mine goes astray and kill steals someone, I take a moment to tell the person “My bad” or “Sorry” and make a conscious effort to make sure my mobs aren’t as close to theirs anymore.
I am always running by shooting at everything that goes into my sight. A&&hole you say? May be. At least I am not weakling that can’t even kill his monsters while some1 else is on the spot
Not all archers are assholes =) Currently I’ve been playing with one a lot and he NEVER attacks other people’s mobs, just passes through them. I can’t blame the people who attack the mob off-screen and can’t see, I’ve already aggroed them. Most of them apologise or when I ask them politely not to kill my mobs, they do not reply but stop doing this.
HOWEVER, the rangers are usually dicks, I have to agree. I rolled a linker and when I happen to farm solo and link a few mobs, before I cast quickspell+magic missiles, like some time passes. And yet they come in close range and use this aoe skill of theirs to get my mobs. I’m only 120 and it has happened to me like 10 times already XD And when I ask them “please don’t attack the mobs I linked”, the response is usually “git gud” or some other saying of a person with some complex irl, who can finally feel like a king in an online game. Sometimes they follow me to make me mad I guess (?), then I just change channel.
As a cleric, when I was tanking and attacking a lot mobs and some ■■■■ approached, I just turned on fade. On 230+ maps I succeeded in killing a few archers
Agree with this, thread should be renamed to why are rangers assholes because I have yet to meet one that didn’t run by barrage spamming like it makes them some kind of skilled 1-button overlord.
About Magic Missile : i can understand that these can’t really be controlled. The only issue i have with Magic Missile users is if they blatantly walk up to my monsters and then use it, making their intent very clear. But if they shoot it from across the screen and it’s obvious that MM was supposed to hit other monsters i have no issue with these “accidental killsteals”
True. Just because you are an archer non-archers should not killsteal you, becaue then the non-archers would not be better than the archer killstealers.
I never said that bugs are supposed to be there. Your wording was “It’s part of the game because it’s possible to KS”.
If you had said “because it’s not against the rules to KS” then i wouldn’t have had problems with your logic and i wouldn’t have objected to it.
However you said “X is part of the game because it’s possible”.
There is a slight difference between “because it’s not against the rules” and “because it’s possible”.
“It’s part of the game because it’s possible” implies that everything that is possible to do in the game, including bug exploiting item duping, would be acceptable to do.
I think you meant to say “Ksing is part of the game because it’s not against the rules”.
I don’t really see how “make the game for others as inconvenient and miserable as possible” could be the charm of a MMORPG, at least for the large player base. How about instead of bringing out behavior like hate or greed against other players or even entire classes we should focus on bringing out behavior that make everyone feel better, like cooperation, respect for eachother and courtesy?

I thought you meant you were charging up some skill and while you were charging up someone came from offscreen and thought you were just standing around. In that situations accidental killsteals may happen, but in the situation you described the person is just an ■■■■■■■.
Well did a test for luls, there were 2 mobs, i was slowly Z-ing one of them, although not an archer, the barbarian dashed to mine, used seism, then went for the other mob.
Alot of people are simply thinking they are more important than anyone else.
PS, the one i poked at only had 20% hp left.
i’m convinced it works to bait more “duckers” its really easy, as i encounter ksers every day.

Just because you and some other thinks its ok, doesnt mean thats hw it is, KS is an issue.
In general, if KS was fine by the majority of gamers, then KS wouldnt even be a topic to discuss.

No, im not whining, i just happened to be a player that likes to play it fair, i dont touch other peoples mobs because im just that nice of a person, but there are people with corrupt mentalities that beleives in “i came, i saw, its mine” Some people just enjoys to be a douche, and douches are people i personally wont support.
Players should do a little something called respect.

I politely asked him not to KS, and he told me to change ch.
What a stupid goddamn as***** he was.
You know, the map had about 3 players, there was no excuse for ksing.
No, i meant what i said. With the mechanics they made, it is possible to KS. They could have made a system to make it impossible, but they didnt. Which means its part of the game.
Bugs are a bad comparison because they are not intended to be there.
As for the pvp thing, id like people to make the choice to have respect and cooperate with eachother, not being forced upon you.
