Where's the fairness for NA players?

another post about the same stuff.
IMC should make a ‘Money&Business’ subforum to regroup all the wannabe professional-global-economy-analyst-expert in the same place.
Far away from the General discussion if possible.

Salary is paid on a yearly basis, you said the same thing twice unless you are trying to compare monthly salary and yearly salary.

Actually you’re wrong, depending on countries it’s paid and compared weekly/ or monthly. I did explain myself wrong though as I should have said that a month salary for some are a year salary for others.

in regards on the unfair pricing for diferent countries. i will gladly swap identities any day of the week with any NA player. seriously . if i was in NA i would gladly pay 50$ every week to play a game. i live in mexico, and im pretty sure that the effort i put to work is definetly the same as any NA job/worker.

Monthly minimum wage in USA: $ 1256
Monthly minimum wage in BR: $ 246

“moving the scamming Brazilians away” to a separate server

Since all of us who are gonna move to a new server paid the game legitemely according to steam prices. Scammers are/will be banned.

Stop talking sht dumbas… u have NO IDEA about what u are whinning

I don’t personally care, because I’ll spend the money anyway, but I do feel it is unfair that other countries get a discount on the same product and services I am paying for just because their country is a dump…

Never heard of a socioeconomic discount.

Truth be told, I’d have near no issue so long as they were segregated by the “version” they purchased and allocated to a different server. At least that way I wouldn’t feel punished just for being part of the greatest country in the world.

Service/Product is the same, why charge poor countries less?

I suppose “unfair” would be a value judgement. From my perspective, it’s fair:

Price is a terrible way of conveying the worth of something across nations. You can say that poorer countries are being charged a lower price (especially if you focus on plain numbers), but this isn’t necessarily true. What’s important is the WORTH of that money.

I’ll give an example: The items in a pound store in the UK are effectively the same as the items in a dollar store in the US, but if we used the exchange rate we could argue that UK buyers are paying almost 150% of the US price for the same goods. That’s not realistic, seeing as the actual worth of the money spent (within these respective nations) is exactly the same. Likewise it doesn’t make sense to complain that prices aren’t fixed across nations according to the exchange rate because the resulting price isn’t an accurate depiction of what the product is worth within that nation. Just because a game is £50 in the UK doesn’t mean it should be 71$ in the US, because the exchange rate doesn’t account for worth within a specific nation.

The UK and US exchange rate is usually quite accurate, so it’s not a great example, but the disparity in actual worth will vary hugely across nations.

Ever heard of price discrimination? :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s set aside fairness for a moment. From a business perspective, it makes sense, too. If people have less disposable income they’re not going to be willing to spend a larger proportion of it – relative to other wealthier nations – on a game that doesn’t match that money’s worth in their lives.

Businesses know this. They have to set it low enough to maximise the number of people who’ll buy the product but also high enough that each purchase gives them a reasonable profit. If you’ve studied economics you know that the goal of most businesses is to reach the point where they balance these two elements to get the highest profit possible.

As this balance varies by group, they set different prices for different groups, reaping the greatest overall profit. I’ve gone on for a bit, so I’ll sum it up: I not only think it’s fair but I also think it’s good for TOS’ future in terms of funding.

EDIT: I do get why you feel it’s unfair, but IMO its only unfair when you don’t take into account the fact that converting prices with the exchange rate doesn’t accurately represent an item’s cost in another nation.

In the next line I specifically say, “It’s not about the Brazilians” mainly because I dungeon with friends from BR, only one is playing somehow from China. None of my friends don’t want to move out of Orsha but have to just because of the changes. They could choose to stay but it’s going to be a hard server for them to keep playing. These are friends I played with that only started with the basic access and got their token priviliges from the Market Manager, which was a team effort to get.

Yup i went there.
