Where will the SA server be physically located?

I am from VENEZUELA

I never say “i am from Mexico”

Venezuela is a Country from South America… But we have better ping in NA, specific: US East, Mexico. Or in another case: Colombia.

Venezuela (Listeni/ˌvɛnəˈzweɪlə/ ven-ə-zwayl-ə; Spanish: [βeneˈswela]), officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish: República Bolivariana de Venezuela), is a federal republic located on the northern coast of South America.

Again, it IS a problem on ur route. You should get 300ms to Russia, not to Brazil. This is what happens with decent routes or using VPN’s. Also, I’m not from Uruguay, I’m from the southest state of Brazil.

Sure, I know some players have problems. I don’t play HotS anymore but I played D3 for years, up until this early access started. The distance does not justify this ping, and the server itself is not the problem as it works fine for all brazilians and some other countries in SA.

Finally, creating a server in another country for like 5% of the population to have 20- ping while the majority of the SA is stuck with 200ms does not make any sense. AWS has only servers in Brazil, so unless they come with a different solution, probably harder to implement, it is what can be done, and what should be done for the majority. In the same way I could ask a server in the south region of Brazil to get 50- ping, yet I don’t do it for obvious reasons.

EDIT: Again, may I suggest you to test a VPN?

if you add all the players in south america together(excluding Brazil) You dont even come close to the amount of Brazilian players. Servers are created by demand of amount of players.

Hope IMC find a good solution for everyone at south america, if you have a good ping playing in NA you should stay there. Most ppl from the south of SA have crappy ping, so it’s a solution for these guys.

In fact is totally normal. You see, a lot of SA countries (like Chile), have their connection to the internet through NA servers. So, even if the country is connected on every region of it that doesn’t mean it is connected to other countries in the continent. Right now a lot of ISP’s on Chile to connect to Brasil servers redirect your connection to NA and then to Brasil, getting you easily 100-150 more ping to the Amazon server on Brasil for example. The others that actually have a direct input to Brasil have a HUUUGEEE packet loss, so even if you have 50-60 ping you can’t even play on those servers.

You can’t just blame Brazil for a route problem unless we actually test to see where are we getting it. Many players play Blizzard games through this AWS server everyday without problems. Many chileans showed low pings in the other topic. Argentineans, Brazilians themselves as it’s a big country.

There’s a small chance it’s a problem near the border of Brazil, but more probably the problem is at a middle point.

Will this decision be made and announced before the team transfer requests deadline is met? The location will heavily affect my decision on the transfer.

Have you guys any updates about the server location?
This will be huge affect on my friends decision and mine too.

@Tsukaxon There will be a ping test, just like we did with the EU and SEA servers. We’re preparing it now and it should be ready soon, so you’ll be able to test before the application period ends.

Thanks a for the quick response

BRAZIL NO PLEASE!! TOO MUCH LAG!!! =(

I have to add the fact that the server MUST be on US, because southern countries internet go miami first, then go back to where the server is located. But brazil is specially proved that is too laggy for some southern countries.

Just tracert any server or page hosted on south america.

Ok thanks. But remember using southern proxies from each country to know the real ping from us x_X

IMC… I’m from chile, and if u don’t know… In chile the tecnology used in telecommunications is very similar to the tecnology used in NA… Normally in my country the ppl and in general the Internet providers companys got much problems with any hosting in Brasil… This is because in Brasil the tecnology used for provide Internet is from Europe. Is this the reason why others games like League of Legends or Dota 2 in Steam got differents servers for the ppl in Brasil, they need compatible tecnology with the country and the rest of Latin America need tecnology more compatible with the tecnology used in the rest of the continent… For example a Ping Test or Speed Test from my company got less Ping or Paquet Loss with US-East Servers than Brasil Server’s. The difference is much:

With my internet provider.
BR Serv: 350+ Ping
US-East: 150+ Ping

This happen with the 80% or more of the providers in general of Latin America

The best alternative in my opinion is to make a Exclusive Server for Brasil located in Brasil, and other Exclusive Latin America Server located in any country who can support the server… (Argentina, Chile, Perú, etc.)

What is the point of a SA server if the route is going to the US then back to SA?
Its better to stay in NA if its going to be like that.

Principally because the Brasil server’s got an incompatible tecnology with the rest of the continent… Take caution with this u can lose players if u don’t take the right chose for this… Much of the games in the world chose for give exclusive brasil server’s for this reason… Take consideration in this please!

Well, they can’t make everyone happy.

If they host the server in Brazil, people from Venezuela, Mexico, etc will get mad.

if they host the server in Venezuela(for example), people from Brazil will get mad.

And I don’t believe they will host 2 servers in SA, so you should get used to what you will get.

Thats why the server must be on NA, Miami maybe, and every problem is solved. It can be a SA server hosted there, and nothing gets complicated.

Im from Venezuela and my friends from Colombia, but we rather stay on Klaipeda.

I’m sorry, but a South American server hosted in Miami makes no sense. It would benefit only players that live close to Miami, countries that are closer to North America.

The guy from Venezuela said he has a ping of 70-100… believe me 70-100 is completely PLAYABLE… just stay on Orsha or Klaipeda then.

I’m just looking at the bigger picture, trying to figure it out what IMC will probably do… The best approach they can take is host the server in countries that are the most affected by ping issues. And Brazil is by far one of the most affected by ping and they have the largest player base right now…
