Such a carefree handling of your pet octopus isn’t recommended. Apparently some species have some neurotoxins on their spit and the bite wound might get infected really badly and painfully too. Common octopus is pretty okay to let it bite and the hand would only go slightly numb, or so I heard from one of my old work mates.
