My advice, don’t go SR. What you get is a one trick pony.
I went Archer 2 but i never read about Rogue so i can’t compare them.

one trick pony? is it bad? but i still like the gameplay of sr. XD
20chars
It depends on how you level. If you focus on low level flying mobs and overkill them the SP drain is worth it. The trick is to level the trait which increase the damage against flying by 20% multiple times so you can overkill effectively. If you are using a general leveling build oblique shot loses its one shot capability between 30-50 in which case it becomes less mana effective.
Around like 70-90 range or something.
You can get the Oblique Shot Attribute to level 50 and it pretty much replaces your auto attack permanently.
Very useful for hunting because of its auto-aim ability.
I stop using it the minute I hit QS3 because 280% damage for 27 seconds far outclasses anything oblique could offer me.
So if I’m going Arc1-Rang3-Fletch3 should I get anything but Obli?
oblique only good at early levels but you can use it for the slow effect later, not for dmg
It actually depends on your build but oblique shot does have its uses even if you’re high leveled already, that is if you invested in its attributes.
dont forget that oblique shots slows down monsters even bosses if you have swift step on… ITS VERY USEFUL
Unless u never auto attack, level up the attribute high. With like 80% attrib, one shot worth 3 auto attacks (1 * 1.8 attribute * 1.8 bounce = 3.24). Not that weak eh, considering u only need 1 skill point.
I`ve stumbled on an awesome damage combo: full draw + oblique shot. In the skill description of full draw there is nowhere mentioned that if 2 mobs are hit a link (string) is made between them and the damage applied to one mob is shared with the other. Now if you cast oblique shot on top of the full draw effect you get even more damage out of it. I can only imagine what mayhem it may cause if i would have the armor reduction passive of full draw plus the extra crit chance of swift step. I run a 1:1 str-dex build. Archer is an awesome class, regardless of what some might say. These are my thoughts on the subject oblique shot.
Update: You can link 2 mobs together with full draw if you push one into the other. After that oblique shot them and watch them go poof
God, don’t necro a thread just to point out something everybody knows about already. It isn’t exclusive to Oblique Shot either.
Well, you could also use wugong gu + full draw + oblique shot. The point was, in case you didn`t notice it, that even at higher stages of the game oblique shot is still relevant in a combo. Everybody is looking for the cheapest and strongest ability out there so they can easily kill as many mobs as possible but that is not how the game was intended to be played. You have so many classes with so many abilities and the quests reward you with much more mana pots than hp pots. Have you ever wondered why that is? There is no best class because it has the best skills. Every class is equal. It just depends on the players how they like to play their character. Ohh and btw oreonical: Are you everybody?
No, but anyone who actually pays attention while playing can easily notice that pseudo-hidden mechanic specially if you always go solo.
Wugong Gu as an example is very terrible. It barely accelerates the spread of poison.
Oblique Shot’s damage is also very low and mediocre at best even if you cap it at 100. It’s merely a filler skill for early leveling and saying it’s still relevant endgame in any noticeable way possible is ridiculous.
Also, you seem to say that there is balance in this so-called diversity in ToS’ class system…
LOL
Either you haven’t played this game much or ignored the whole crap this game had going like the other people thinking the game is fine.
The game is frequently “meme’d” for a reason, being called “Tree of Clerics”, and it’s just one of many.
Once again,
LOL
I guess you have overseen the word “combo” and the words “It just depends on the players how they like to play their character”. But it’s ok. Not everyone can really pay attention to words. It’s much easier just to blurt them out and see what happens, just as in a game of dice…
Wow. Just realized this post started on April.
As pointed out by @oreonical, oblique shot doesn’t scale very well late game. However, I for one use it often. Mine is Lvl 10 with max attribute. I mainly use it to farm dungeons since I am not a scout 3. With trans 5 315 bow, I can finish a full run 145 dun in 12-15mins using oblique and with some mergen skills. I deal around 15k - 17k for the first shot (145 dungeon mobs) and less with the bounce. More damage if flying.
With high lvl mobs (Lvl 290+), it will not deal enough damage and will take u forever to kill a high lvl mob using just oblique shot. But it is way better than the normal attack and good filler skill to finish off some mobs.
Also nice to have in PVP.
K, if you like to play it that way.
still using it with lvl 1 to aggro and slow stuff ~ reached 280 now
as SR i have never stopped using it, it’s the best way to slow down the movement speed on Retreat Shot when there is no wall near
Well, I’m a Mergen level 276 and I still use it as my AA. No, I really don’t like it, but it’s not like there’s a better option.
