Whats wrong with Fletcher?

So quite a few people i know who have a Fletcher are re-rolling them for R8…
They all say its incompatible with the R8s, and i want to know how?

I myself have a 275 Archer2 - Hunter1 - Scout1 - Fletcher3.
And I was planning on going Mergen but everyone says its a bad choice because Fletcher’s dmg is crap compared to the R8 line up and it will fall off at R8, or be completely obsolete at R9…

While I dont doubt it will fall off eventually theirs still things like magic arrow, and and Broad head for the -80% armor and the one-three 2.2k hits from barbed arrow which seems to be still slightly on par with Mergen…

Ive actually invested a lot of time and silver in my Fletcher but is it really that bad at R8?..

Fletcher’s damage isn’t crap at r8, it’s just that swordies were given ridiculous damage at r8, for example fencer is top #1 WB class, fletcher is 3rd (I think) in korea.

There’s hope that we will get some balance patches soons, as fletchers aren’t the only ones affected by stupid powercreeping, wizards pretty much became a support class at r8.

Fletcher3…damage is bad? jeez. They are the king of WB in Rank 7.
Fletcher can solo Merc Mission / rush dungeons. Fletcher can solo WB and get a cube easily.
The only thing Fletcher is lacking atm is AoE.

That is Bodkin.
Broadhead is the one that make the enemy bleed. Awesome PVP skills :smiley:

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad choice for rank 8. Since they are still top 3 WB DPS (not sure if this changed in KToS). On average I’m hitting 8-8.5k per tick so around 200K Per magic arrow that’s a lot for 5 secs cooldown skill. I think people are re-rolling because they keep seeing huge burst damage + glass mole on KToS videos.

Every class has different play style though if you look at this thread:

Most of players are leaning toward Mergen.
Fletcher/Merg
Wugu/Falc/Merg
Scout3/Falc/Merg
ETC.

A2-R1-SC1-F3-Mergen (main)
A1-R3-F3-Hakapalle (alt)

That’s my plan for rank 8. I’m sure they will adjust each class and make it more balance(?) :smiley:

Fletcher is still fine. Fletcher magic arrow is still a very nice source of sustained damage on 5s cooldown, and a high hitcount. You may use fletcher magic arrow during CD of other burst skills.

Fletcher magic arrow cannot get big number burst like musket2, dragoon2, fencer3, shinobi(murmillo), etc. Burst classes vs lower HP worldbosses will beat fletcher.

VS higher HP bosses, it is difficult to compare. Devs added many melee debuffs and buffs (stormcalling, breaking wheel, new circling, armour breaks, serpentine debuff, strike debuffs, fencer epee garde etc etc).

It will be difficult to compete vs teams of dragoon & fencer (pierce damage boosters), barb doppels (slash booster, deed stack with mushroom), shinobi murmillo (strike damage boosters). Fletcher missiles will benefit from pierce debuffs, and armour break on enemy though.
Vs ghost armour, magic dps is stronger. Krivis taoist is really strong unless you ruin them through reversi scroll. Sustained magic damage is still elelock. New magic defence is a lot higher than physical defence, so all magic users have to reach an attack value threshold or they will hit 1.

Fletcher has low CD sustained damage, likely it will fit into all skill cycles for rank 8-9 and more. Fletcher skills will turn into filler skills later, and higher base damage (high CD) skills will be main skills.

Worst come to worst, IF fletcher turns really bad… I think there will be class reset so that your char could be salvageable. How this class reset is going to be executed we still have yet to know…

I also have a A1-R3-F3 and I don’t know what to do.
Do you recommend to go Hakapalle or Mergen?

I’m going with Hakapalle on my R3F3 (alt) since I want to test it out :3 and I don’t have A2 :confused: If I am to go with Mergen on R3 it will be quite a challenge to get that nice crit rate with 2H bow. You would need atleast Lv 7 x 3 green gems but you can go with either. Plenty of R3F3 KToS players went with Mergen although they are high/full Dex build so I’m not sure what is your stats distribution atm.

Honestly it’s all about play style.
Do you prefer long range or close combat archer?
Long Range = Mergen (2H bow attributes) / Close-combat = Hakapalle
Do you need AoE or further improve your single target damage?
AoE = Mergen / Single Target = Hakapalle

Play what’s fun to you :smiley:

Right now I have a mix of str and dex build, like 1,5/1 str /dex atm, the thing is that I lack of crit , so i need to get some gems and invest more points on dex.
I woulde like to play Mergen because I love 2H bows and as all Fletcher we need more AoE.

AR3F3 here. Still good. We might not be the best WB DPS for R8 but we have a good spot in ET now with party compositions having 2 AOE/1 Boss DPS (F3Mergen)/CC/Healer so it’s still good.

We also have somewhat good AoE now thanks to mergen. Well, you can still get hackapell if you want but tbh, i don’t really have a problem with AR3F3. I crit most of the time so i don’t really have a problem.

It’s not like there is stronger dps for Archers right now anyways. Remember Mergen is only at C1 and can be the new dps for archers when c3 comes out. Good thing is Mergen can be taken along with Fletcher without any conflict. Maybe SR3 is what people are rerolling to but I feel like SR3 and Fletcher can’t be compared as one is for aoe and one is for bossing. People who are claiming that Fletchers are useless are kinda clueless. They’re just headless chickens running around like crazy without a clue.

I enjoy Fletcher, but the weak point is it has no AoE and the process of making arrows makes it a bit tedious. Then, single target, is a beast, like Nicola said. Magic Arrow is very OP. 5 CD, and Broadhead is also an excellent skill to use.

That’s why you gotta go Mergen :stuck_out_tongue: circle 1 maybe weak but wait till circle 3.

Circle 1 for most class is pretty weak. Can’t really compare to;
SR 3
Musk 2
etc.

like Fletcher 1 is pretty weak :frowning: …but then Fletcher 3 is so delightful to play.

I love how people just drop their character cause of some patch that hasn’t even happened yet, cause of some calculations or speculations that didn’t even hit them yet. Some people are just ready to give up a tremendous amount of game time (and supposedly fun?) cause their char is not meta (maybe) anymore, cause some other class might be more efficient.
God is that a game or is that stock market? Are you having any fun at all playing??? You like your char, then keep playing. Those same people will drop their char at R9, at R10 and so on… In this kind of game you have to make the best out of what you started with, you can’t forsee every patch or extension that might come up. Enjoy, play with the char you like… :slight_smile:

It has something to do with being competitive and wanting to be the best. Also, it’s a game. It has a reset button, so why wouldn’t they try to get the best option?

It’s good to be content with your characters even if it has faults, but simply accepting everything that comes to it bad or good would be very boring.

It’s one of the main drives to even do what you do you know. By showing that you are top dog, the dominant one, the best, etc.

Well I get that, but I feel like this is mostly an overreaction to start over again. I mean, if you did crap like A1 QS1 R1 S1 A2 SR1 F1, Ok, you didn’t grasp the concept and you can sure start over. But F3 can’t go from top WorldBoss DPS to crap…
I really don’t care if all the people go and start again, that’s their choice. But I don’t understand why people are asking if they should reroll. That’s just nonsense to me ^^

Ahh, I would assume it’s because they aren’t sure of what to do and looking for the public’s opinion about the topic. It’s like they are trying to get the approval of others. Well, i’m no expert in psychology, but it’s like wanting to fit in with the rest i guess.
