What's up with hair colors?

true but if they keep with the achievement system its not a big deal. Like i said none of them are hard.

Aslong as more colors become available im happy i don’t need them right at the start.

I think it’s just that kind of game. I also think they consider their primary consumers the Korean gamers. Maybe the Korean players just like the achievement kind of thing and they’re coming from that mindset. If something like this (or other aspect of the game) appeals to the Koreans, they will probably stick with it.

What with other MMOs coming out with very complex character customization, players may just have to choose if they can live without it or not.

Well, I do.
It’s very awkward to change how a character looks after spending a few dozen hours with then. Since there are no facial or bodily features to link their past and future, drastically altering hair color feels like either I’m replacing my “beloved” character or like that few dozen hours history doesn’t count.

It’s also kind of ingrained. People change clothes all the time. They also change their hairstyle every once in a while. Changing hair color, however, is a rare occurence - and many if not most people will never change it. That the game as it is now takes hairstyle as the fixed part and color as the variable is weird.

It could be alleviated if ahcievements were account-shared. But a design choice wouldn’t need alleviation if it were a good design choice.

This all depends on the people you know a large number of my family/friends refuse to use the same haircolor for more then a month. Many of them have also killed their hair lol.

It takes a special kind of merit to advertise a game internationally so heavily and then refuse to adapt it to anyone but a specific country’s tastes.
In this specific case there’s even plenty of ways to boast achievements! So this shouldn’t be necessary.

But you’ll admit that they’re in the minority, right? And even then, don’t they also change their hairstyle with it, if only by making it shorter? I really can’t say that I’ve ever met anyone that switches their hair color more often than their hairstyle!

Again, Korea, lol. Japan even.

I’m not against character customization but I also see the merit in the achievement route. The fact that they mentioned something like this so early could mean that this is originally planned, and they might consider it a unique nature of their game as opposed to the other games with complex character customization at the start.
