At this point I have more ground to think they’ll put those colors as achievements rather than in the character creation screen. Since the former system already exists but the later doesn’t.
Yea thats what i was saying i expect to see them as achievement rewards. But with them being basic colors they will probably be doable at low lvls much like black is.
Well, as I said. If it weren’t for these bugs/misfortunes I would have gotten both without realizing it (and therefore without grind).
But make colors unlockable when we already have tons of accessories for appearance, really sounds a little silly… Maybe some rare hair styles could be unlockable, but colors…? Urrrrrrrr…
(Now I just need actual glasses.)
this game isnt one that focuses on character customization and all. I wouldnt expect too much.
As it is the same with all top-down view mmos. If you can name one with decent character customization and all please let me know.
I don’t know if it counts as decent but I’ll say one with better early customization.
Ragnarok Online.
Wish the hair colours were tweaked a bit further.
Pink and white feel the same :L
you can change hair color and hair style…
i can do both those in this game. lol
It’s more restrictive than what RO offers. There should be a certain amount of hair colors and eye colors available during character creation, and they can tie some unusual ones to achievements if they want.
I guess it could be worse though. All the hair colors could be locked behind a paywall.
Ro has added colors and styles over 10 years. and at the start the colors were
red/white/blue/green/ brown or blonde depending on hairstyle selected
even now there is only 9 colors per style and in tos we have 4 available currently at least in beta. Mind you they have to be obtained via achievement rather then handed out at the start. But none of the achievements are hard.
As for styles ragnarok has 27 for each gender once again after over 10 years. On release they had 10-12. And i would expect more styles from this game but they maybe achievement locked or cash shop or something looking at the way the game is being developed.
And 15 years later, they will add a new race! Maybe the first of many…
When i saw that i was sooooo glad i recently quit playing. The character isn’t even designed the same as the old ones it looks super out of place in game to me.
So right after coming up, when creating a character in RO you could choose among 10 hairstyles and 5 colors, right?
Meanwhile, as it is ToS offers 10x1 at character creation.
and is not released yet.
That’s correct. And I’m trying to push for them to “fix” that.
It’d be saddening and kind of pathetic if it stays as 10x1 at release
true but if they keep with the achievement system its not a big deal. Like i said none of them are hard.
Aslong as more colors become available im happy i don’t need them right at the start.
I think it’s just that kind of game. I also think they consider their primary consumers the Korean gamers. Maybe the Korean players just like the achievement kind of thing and they’re coming from that mindset. If something like this (or other aspect of the game) appeals to the Koreans, they will probably stick with it.
What with other MMOs coming out with very complex character customization, players may just have to choose if they can live without it or not.
Well, I do.
It’s very awkward to change how a character looks after spending a few dozen hours with then. Since there are no facial or bodily features to link their past and future, drastically altering hair color feels like either I’m replacing my “beloved” character or like that few dozen hours history doesn’t count.
It’s also kind of ingrained. People change clothes all the time. They also change their hairstyle every once in a while. Changing hair color, however, is a rare occurence - and many if not most people will never change it. That the game as it is now takes hairstyle as the fixed part and color as the variable is weird.
It could be alleviated if ahcievements were account-shared. But a design choice wouldn’t need alleviation if it were a good design choice.
This all depends on the people you know a large number of my family/friends refuse to use the same haircolor for more then a month. Many of them have also killed their hair lol.
It takes a special kind of merit to advertise a game internationally so heavily and then refuse to adapt it to anyone but a specific country’s tastes.
In this specific case there’s even plenty of ways to boast achievements! So this shouldn’t be necessary.
But you’ll admit that they’re in the minority, right? And even then, don’t they also change their hairstyle with it, if only by making it shorter? I really can’t say that I’ve ever met anyone that switches their hair color more often than their hairstyle!
Again, Korea, lol. Japan even.
I’m not against character customization but I also see the merit in the achievement route. The fact that they mentioned something like this so early could mean that this is originally planned, and they might consider it a unique nature of their game as opposed to the other games with complex character customization at the start.
