Whats a good build if

What is a good build if you want to Rank 7 Corsair?

And if I decide to go corsair rank 5 and 6 and make dragoon rank 7 will I be able to switch to a weapon on each hand and play as my corsair? will I be able to use my corsair skills as a dragoon? if they require two weapons ect just a bit confused

Just got off work starting my new character right now. Thinking of these two options If I decide to main Dragoon.

Swordsman>Swordsman>Hoplite>hoplite>hoplite>doppel>Dragoon

Or

Swordsman>Peltasta>Hoplite>Hoplite>Corsair>Corsair>Dragoon

The game is pretty good at automatic weapon switching if you try to use a skill that requires a different weapon. As long as you have the required weapon equipped to your alternative weapon slot all you have to do is press the skill and the character will seamlessly switch weapon to use that skill, then switch back to your original weapon. It’s all done pretty much instantly so it’s suprisingly effective. Only real downside is having to pay for 2 different weapon sets.

But that said with your second build you’d likely be using a 1h spear+dagger anyway which would already let you use every ability from hoplite, corsair, and dragoon without issue. But if you wanted to use a 2h spear or 1h spear+shield on hoplite and dragoon skills, you could use alternative weapons to still be able to cast corsair skills like Hexan Dropper.

But doesnt a 2H spear look more bad ass ? & will using my 2H spear cause more damage? or will I cause more damage with 1H spear and dagger?

also which of the two builds do you like

Frankly I’m not really sure what would be better out of a 2h spear and 1h spear+dagger. I could see it going either way and I havn’t looked into it enough to know which would be better, it could even change depending on what weapons you had access to at the time. It wouldn’t be a big deal though you could always switch between the two options with no issues.

I think both your builds are solid and either one should be good. Although I would put Peltasta in the first build like you had it in the second. With that change your two builds are the exact same two builds I was deciding between myself when I was playing my Swordie. Fortunately they follow the same build path up until Rank 5 so you can start playing without having to make a choice yet. I never reached the point myself where I had to choose but I was leaning towards the Corsair route. (I only got to about level 120.)

Really? why the corsair route?

Also if you didnt reach im assuming its because you decided to try another character… what did you go with?

I went with an archer instead. I wanted a more pure dps character. Tanking is kind of baked into all Swordies and I’m not a big fan of that.

I was leaning towards Corsair mainly because of all the good things I’d heard about Hexan Dropper. But it was also my first character and I was really poor so I was hoping to use Jolly Roger to help make some money. :stuck_out_tongue:

haha funny because I am having those exact thoughts ! I was considering going archer to go full DPS … do you regret it? what build did you go with?

reason why I want good dps is for pvp and gvg and to also be wanted in dungeons

So I nawrroed it down to

Swordsman>peltasta>Hoplite>hoplite>hoplite>doppel>Dragoon

Or

Swordsman>Swordsman>Barbarian>Barbarian>Corsair>Corsair>

not sure what rank this second build would end with best I seen it here in this video and it looks epic what do you think he was going to become 7th rank with this build

I really like archers after playing them so I don’t regret that at all. I probably won’t be going back to my swordie any time soon to be honest.

I’ve currently got 2 different archers both around level 90. One of them is Quarrel Shooter 3 and the other is Ranger 3. Quarrel Shooter is a lot of fun and have incredibly strong single target/grinding at my current level, but their late game scaling is poor and their AoE sucks so they’ll probably get really weak in the long run, regardless it’s the most I’ve enjoyed any character up to this point so I’m going to keep at them for the moment :stuck_out_tongue: . Ranger 3 is not nearly as fun to me but once they build into Fletcher they get some absurdly strong skills with no CDs. Fletcher is flavor of the month as one of the most OP dps in the game and it seems to be for good reason.

I can’t comment much on this new build you’ve found unfortunately. I never looked into Barbarians when making my Swordie so don’t really know anything about that class or what it offers to Corsair. My best guess for rank 7 would be Doppel, the build seems to be based around lots of buffs and Doppel offers another good one. Plus whirlwind is supposed to be excellent. Only other reasonable options would be Barb 3, Corsair 3, or Dragoon. Corsair 3 is pretty weak tho and I don’t know what Barb 3 offers, Dragoon might be fine though.
