What to do when you are behind with levels?

Yesterday, I played with one or two friends since the character creation, never alone and we tried not to skip any area/quest (we missed half of one area at ~15, that is it), the achievement even put us in the top 3% when it comes to points so we should be “good” i suppose.

But around 34, we encountered some problem, we were so ahead in the quests that it was too hard to keep going like that, we were already in the tenet chapel 1F which is level 44.

So my question here is how to change that, did we miss something aside from the main quests, are we supposed to bash senselessly monsters when they are definitely not giving much (which we did in the end and reached 40 like that, but it was really slow and considering the amount of people and little amount of monsters, not really fun), if so, what the best range of levels should we focus between our level and the monsters ?

Thanks.

You are supposed to grind monsters before going to the next area if your party cant handle it.

You grind on monsters till you hit the level of the monsters or higher.

I see, not what i hopped to hear xD

So we have to go for 4-5 more levels after 5-6 already, that is not gonna be fun…

Now think about this, this is still cbt, where we have higher rates. Come OBT, we will lose our minds grinding. Especially when we will only get nice skills/class at rank 5 or 6

We have an exp boost right now ?

Well i don’t mind bashing monsters when it is done correctly, i have been playing ragnarok since the beta in 2002 on official servers, and my first character was an acolyte/priest back then which i leveled solo, so i am not afraid.

Don’t find the level design adequate for bashing in this game though.

Well two solutions come to mind for countering mindless grinding, which is capped repeatables that give exp cards or increased EXP from mobs.

When one of your game mechanics is essentially grinding, you’re doing gaming wrong.

I haven’t grinded at all and I’m level 42. Are you sure you did all quests? Used all your EXP cards?

Some quests are really well hidden on some maps so that could be it

Almost all the areas are 100% discovered but few at really low levels, before we discovered there was hidden npcs, we used all our cards also, but almost didn’t kill any monsters but the ones for the quests, because we are a “team of specialized” builds, and killing monsters one by one is not good for us, so instead we encountered packs here and there, we would not stop.

We have decided to restart anyways, i will then take into consideration what you told me here so our grinding is more pleasant in higher levels.

Thanks.
