What makes you still play ToS?

occasionally, Satari, Alpha, and my love for the game

For a while, it was making alts and experimenting with builds. But I’ve finally settled on a main (after like 12 characters haha). Now I’m gearing him out. My alt-building has gone from combat classes to shop classes, so now I’m trying to make all of those.

The biggest thing, though, was finding a guild with people I like and playing with them.

Same, it’s the experimenting with builds that I like.

Also on your last point, finding like minded people who enjoy the game and forming a decent in game community is top notch.

i find such a question is hard to completely quantify… but off the top of my heart/head:

[details=what I like]the graphics

story/world

music

game play

the ability to obtain nice loot without having to do raids like in wow

the rarity of some of the loot ( that nostalgia of looting rares returned to me when I started playing tos)

the number of classes and combinations ( have not seem some of the classes in this game on any other game though the amount of mmos I have played is limited)

the ability to name your party

the team system and having one team name for all your character ( makes you feel like players play the game rather than seeing this and that persons character and not even knowing you are playing with someone you already played with + you might develop a good or bad reputation in the community )

I actually to some degree like the idea of some of the afk stuff occurring in this game. to me necros being afk and killing stuff does not feel like a huge issue. I get free loots from them sometimes + they might let you leech exp which is nice of them

all the different kinds of spells and abilities ( there are many neat ones )

world bosses and how bosses in this game are in general

the way mobs explode when you kill them… I often find myself killing mobs for no other reason than because it’s fun to kill them + to see what loot they will give me

the types of souls that play this game give me a sense of community and a sense of relating to others if only for the mere fact that they too play and seem to enjoy this game as I do though I am mostly a loner and don’t socialize very much at all

the crafting system… so many items have an actual purpose if for no other reason than to make some common item and if they don’t have a purpose chances are you can use the item to help upgrade a gem if you wish

the card system though i have never tried out the card game

I like how you loot stuff in this game. clicking on and dragging items to your bag or even having to right click on a corpse feels too tedious to me though looting items needs to, like many things, be more optimized/graceful

this is my first mmo to play with a controller. it feels great and hurts my wrist a lot less than the mouse does

the collection system

I love my characters ( they give me the warm fuzzies )

the meowing of cats in the town of klaipeda

the missions and dungeons

the challenge of the game itself (at least thus far… I have not made it to 300+ because I have been too busy making alts so my highest level is only 215~ish unless you count my battle bird, hes 260… i’m kind of jealous)

the team level system is nice for altaholics that can’t decide what one character to focus on even though I would like to invest all my efforts into one char

the questing system is decently convenient in some ways such as teleportation back to the quest givers

the costumes and hats

the number that goes above you head after you and others kill a boss is cool. I really like trying to get that 1 and am also happy when others outdo me[/details]

thus far with my very limited experience things get harder at higher levels and you might require other actual humans to play with which for someone like me it might be beneficial to do that for a change though i’m pretty sure if I play my diev/miko/plaguedoctor as my main that I will hardly need anyone for anything but it still might be nice to play with others in harder content. heck if I play my reset pyro/linker/sage + agni I may not need anyone either. it might be worth playing a op class like clerics in general if for no other reason than that it would be nice to play with others more and to feel useful.

how will things change at higher levels? well i hope that I will actively be part of that change and actually start grouping up and playing with others. thusfar usually when someone ask if I wanna play with them I run away or say no :poop:. one thing I did not like about all my years of wow is that I was always alone ( besides random ques) it’s hard to find good peoples that i love in mmos now. every once in a while when I go back to playing tibia I find someone to play with but more and more i’m becoming the overly coffeed up loner noxot the insane cat.

Mostly hanging with friends, fighting each other, fighting strangers, levelin , questin. I use this game as my chill and relax game

I just like to play my Fencer, i have a lot of fun with its mechanics and just overall love that i can play a class which utelizes a Rapier

Having a small guild of close friends, and go for WBing or Grinding together while talking in TS is the most fun part of this game.

Get urself some goals (not for urself, but for ur guild - for example farming a 315 orange weapon together, or getting a hamster and raise one or going to gear up and do ET and Demon Lords)

This is why i still play the game!

Jtos is the reason why I still play TOS, still trying to learn kana and trying to find out how to type kana instead of writing in romanji.

I honestly think that the game was meant to be done with atleast one more person with you. In itos i had a cryo kino with linker c2 in it. It was a fun class, but then rank 8 came out and it needed you to be in groups of 5 to do questing and honestly, that was the most fun I have had since rank 8 came out. Its group questing( which includes getting squad wiped by a boss 4 times ), just the way classes would compliment each other was really fun in my experience.

I still play because I’ve accepted that the game is terrible, and that it isn’t exactly what I want it to be, which allows me to embrace the broken nature of the game and still have fun. As long as I’m not expecting things to work properly, it’s easier to not get frustrated and laugh about it instead.

I think the key to enjoying this game is to have as few expectations as possible, to exploit as many bugs as possible, and to laugh about the glaring bugs and problems instead of get mad about them. …and also to not be a meta-slave. Because that’s boring af.

I just got back to playing ToS over the break and I have realized what makes this game so much more enjoyable than other MMORPGs in the market. It is one of the few MMORPGs in which people actually socialize and give a lively feel to the game. In most other action rpgs that come out nowadays, other players would be in a rush to max lvl and are isolated from each other. However, this game encourages teamwork with the holy trinity system of tank, dps, and healer.
What I think IMC needs to work on the most is focusing on optimization and implementing a trading system that cheaters cant take advantage of; because whats a social MMORPG without trading.
