What is your controller choice & why?

I generally don’t play console games so I don’t have any controllers. I was just testing the game out in the CBTs and so I wasn’t planning to buy a controller for a game that I may not be investing time in.

However, I’ve paid for the Founder’s Package and now plan to try out a controller.

My question to the community is, what controller would you recommend?

Does your controller have enough button functionality for all the skills in game?

Even if it has enough buttons, are those buttons easy to access?

Does your controller feel comfortable after several hours of game play?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’m sure there are others who are looking for optimal choices for ToS controllers so any input from community members who have had experience with controller usage would be greatly appreciated.

I mostly play cleric / mage classes and i have been using the razer controller, so basically a xbox controller and have had no issues. I know a few players that use ps4 as well. I have yet to try a steam controller though.

I use an xbox controller, my brother uses a ps4 controller. I like the xbox because of the shape, but both work great. I prefer it by far over the way the keyboard or mouse and keyboard controls work. It’s much easier on my hands and wrists. I have a lot of trouble with minute movements when I have to do them over and over, so the controller reduces a lot of the strain.

I was looking to use a controller for that exact same reason, soreness of the hands and wrist.

Unlike 20 years ago, my hands and wrist don’t feel too hot after a few hours of button smashing.

I do like the grip and feel of the xbox but from what I can recall, doesn’t it have fewer buttons compared to a PS4?

I also need to take a look at this steam controller.

I don’t 100% remember if you can change keymapping (I don’t think you can) but it was designed for the xbox controller. ^ ^ Here’s a link, it shows the key mapping at the bottom of the page.

I totally relate. I’m in my early 30s but I have fibromyalgia and gaming can be a nightmare.

There has been some progress on key mapping in Ktos but i haven’t looked into it in a while as i stopped playing when they announced Itos was on the way, so im not sure if they ever finished the custom mapping but i know it was inprogress.

I’ll be using a 360 controller. Although I prefer a PS4 controller, the 360 is easier for pc compatibility.

I am gonna play mage and use ps navigation controller + keyboard.

Oh that’s awesome ^_^! I’m still debating on getting a ps4 controller. Might have to test my brother’s out.

360 controller for me, i always found them to be the most comfortable ones

I’m using a PS3 gamepad because I happen to have 2 of them xD
Well, qualitywise they’re perfect. It’s sony after all.

Yes. 2*20 is sufficient (20 slots can be accessed at the same time)

Yes, but its preferable to actually be used to a gamepad.

Still good. It’s a gamepad made to be used for a long time with as less stress for your hands as possible after all.

Don’t got for cheap stuff. Just don’t. Go for big branches if you want to be sure.

get on my level :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah  back when games took actual player skill and not just the ability to roll your face on 16 buttons YES I’M LOOKING AT YOU STEEL BATTALION for XBOX

oh gawd. @_@ That’s just wrong!

… though, I have been debating upgrading my rig to something more gaming oriented. I use an alienware laptop but I really want to try my hand at building a desktop suited to my particular needs.

Desktop is more bang for your buck. labtop your always paying for the “convenience” of moving it around.

Well, I have what they classically call a delicate constitution. Alot of times I’m stuck in bed, so I need a powerful enough laptop to game on. But, I still want a desktop that I can play my games on and that is a bit more future proof. Alienware’s graphic amplifier is nice, but I’m not going to get it.

I’m gonna play with keyboard and mouse, but if I were to use a controller, I’d hook up my Gamecube controller!
