When I purchased this game for $50, I was expecting something more along the lines of what I received when I pre-purchased any other MMO game or expansion in the past. The best example would be World of Warcraft. If I paid extra for a collector’s edition then I received a reward that was account bound and every one of my characters could use it – on every server. They also offered this for pre-purchasing their newest games – one of which is F2P.
This is what should have been done here. We had no reason to invest more than $10 to play a game early. We could have waited for F2P yet we are given a mediocre reward that can only be used on one server, and on one character.
The token should have been account wide once activated. The other items in the reward chest should have been given to every character on every server team. At the very least – if the devs are too greedy – one character per server. The box should have appeared in the mail on each individual server and you choose which character to give it to on that respective server (if not just simply giving it to every character upon creation.)
I don’t think this is unfair. I have never in my life seen someone on WoW or any other Blizzard game or DOTA or LoL, or Rift, complain about someone’s special pet, mount, or in-game skins for pre-purchasing or spending money on something that would otherwise be free or half the price if you didn’t opt for cosmetics.
If someone does think it is unfair it is probably someone whose logic isn’t up to par and has not matured to the point of understanding the simple concept of “you get what you pay for.” I would certainly expect my $150 stove top espresso maker made in Italy to outlast a $20 french press made with plastic parts. I always pay premium and I expect premium results and especially in this case: premium service.
The devs need to take notes from other successful MMOs and adjust accordingly. All of these suggestions would take care of EVERYONE’S PROBLEMS. Why would someone be begging for a server or item transfer if his or her token is account wide, and the treasure chest is obtainable on each team or every character? Seriously, get it together.
