What game you "mirror" ToS gameplay with?(RO doesn't count)

Hi guys! We could see that Tree of Savior is inspired by lots of games but i wanted to know what are your thoughts about it.

Like, what game came up in your mind when you saw a ToS gameplay video?

For me, besides the RO looking, the game that i LOVED playing and came in my mind when i saw the boss battles is Monster Hunter. The mechanics that you have to grind to actually kill a boss, learn its attacks and avoid them like happens in Monster Hunter are the things that made me want to play ToS. I know that ToS can be different since there’s more classes, skills and etc, but there’s still this soul that you need to learn the boss first. Monster Hunter was the first kind of game i had experienced that has these hard bosses gameplays, so it’s what comes to my mind.

I don’t know if I thought of anything more than RO.

Now if I look at ToS, I relate it to Arpiel and Inspirit, however it’s 1000x better than Inspirit, and I can’t say much about Arpiel, but for sure ToS is way more indepth.

It looks a lot like a 2D TERA. Active targeting, jumping for dodging, etc. I loved TERA’s combat system, and if they come back with their promise of making ToS more exploratory (what I loved about RO), then I’m going to love this game. TERA was so incredibly linear and grindy, I got very bored around end-game.

I think there’s already another similar thread with the same topic for this. Oh well, legend of mana (PSX)is the most similar IMO.

Seiken Densetsu series. Not just gameplay but art style as well.

@OP Not related but a game that made me remember of Monster Hunter was RaiderZ, take a look later (search for chimera boss fight and you will understand).

I played RaiderZ on its launch but it got me very bored and i didn’t even continued playing :c

RaiderZ is good as a single run MMO but gets really boring after sometime. There were some cool bosses though, like Diago, Chimera and that…plant thing.

I liked Phantasy Star Online 2. But play alone it’s not my thing, and none of my friends liked it. There’s these boss fights all the time there.

well I could say disgaea, but the artstyle is slightly different.

I dunno the overhead look made me think of diablo 3 or I guess trickster? :whale:

i understand trickster, but diablo 3 , is tos so dark for you :stuck_out_tongue: ?

It reminds me of Action RPGs, but I can’t name a specific one as the ones I’ve played are too different from ToS (Lunia, Grand Chase, Elsword, etc.)

It reminds me of grand chase and lunia aswell! Oh gosh, such good times i had with those games :’)

Reminds me of several dungeon crawlers game, camera-wise. Magicka, Divinity:Original Sin are ones that popped in my mind.
Gameplay-wise, reminds me of hammerwatch

I’ve been playing a lot of Torchlight 2 recently with my wife and find the view very similar. Can’t say anything for the gameplay of ToS though since all I’ve seen are clips from the betas.

I’d have to say Ys. I reaaallly got this Ys vibe from this game.
