well that’s still ± the amount of players that Ragnarok online has on its “international” server (iRO). FRO (French Ragnarok Online or also EuRO [though EuRO went down because Burda holdings Int did not continue the service]) has significantly less players and still runs, so unless the playerbase drops beneath 1k I think they will continue to run the game.
The thing about iTOS is,though, that it’s badly made, advertized, etc.
The game had so much potential when it was first announced and everyone was like “omg this game looks awesome”; When the game started in CBT, the game was more like “some awes” than awesome for the testers, and currently we are still testers for the sake of nothing.
It would be nice if they’d focus more on remaking the game so that it runs without bugs, uses more CPU power and has less stupid effects that make the FPS drop because you can’t switch them off.
Honestly, during the moments when I can play with 50 FPS I think “this game is amazing”, but when the FPS drop to below 10 in the next moment because something happens I sometimes want to throw my monitor out of the window.
Sure, there are so many things to do that you might think it’s a pain to do everything, but I think this is what makes the game worth playing. You can chose what to do,when to do it, can customize your character with many different equips, skills, classes, attributes, status points etc. that this game deserves its rank in the top MMORPGs.
It would be really sad to see this game die because the managing guys don’t get their act together, because most online “RPGs” nowadays are just poorly made with pseudo-RPG-elements (e.g. Black Desert online or Dragon Nest online) where it doesn’t really matter which class you take or which way you play: the only things that matter are top cash equip, top equipment and mashing the right buttons at the right time when your brain is half-afk because the backgrounds look crappy and the bosses/monsters are really dumb and predictable…
As long as these games don’t die 1st, TOS doesn’t deserve to go prematurely, so I doubt the players will leave the game unless there comes a really good game that’s a crossover between TOS and RO, combining both games strong points while leaving out the weak points.
