New Dragoon here. Yes this is sort of a rant/QQ thread, and yes it’s duuuuuumb as can be.
Dragon Soar SUUUUUUUCCCKKKSSSSSS. Serpentine and Dragontooth are fine. I spent a point into Soar and it’s ticking me off already. Bad range, bad AoE, no KD/KB or “lifting into the air” and bad damage…
Gae bulg is a single hit and it’s just not strong enough.
So what do you guys think I can do with those extra points?
Uhh i love dragon soar.
I agree Dragon Soar is kinda meh except for the Shock debuff. I still got it to 5 though because there’s really nothing else to get. Gae Bulg is more lackluster, PVP-wise.
You just have to attribute it up as it still have decent multihit, making Restrain proc more likely. It’s good as an emergency burst skill when everything else is on cooldown. Can combo with Bash or any other KD skill as well.
Dragon soar is good when the impaler ends, you just smash the button and then you get damage+stun (when restrain is on), giving you time to use more skills. I kill many people in TBL with this.
I think Gae Bulg is worth maxing for the attribute buff and debuff length. Even though I still have no idea what Gae Bulg’s debuff actually does.

Any of you tested the buff/rebuffs with different skills? @creative34521 I really never heard of it giving you extra hits, can you do the boulder test on it?

Hmmm, if you have or can get skill reset, max Gae Bulg for the attributes, reset and set Gae Bulg to 1 while getting D. Soar to 4. You can do the same with Bash as well so you have 2 extra points to point anywhere else.
Kinda offtopic but I do think if you’re Pel-Hop, you should go Goon2. Cuz you wouldn’t be able to use your shield with Lancer skills. At least with Goon2 you get Dethrone which is pretty potent in PvP and you have more of a PvE build (lack of restrain).
However…I guess if you are really hellbent on going Lancer and going for more of a PvP approach, I’d max serpentine, dragon soar, and put 4 points into dragon tooth and 1 into gae bulg.
So why max dragon soar and not gae bulg? Cuz gae bulg has pretty crap damage, WHILE dragon soar can give you shock debuff which is great vs mages. Gae bulg is just really bad right now, only reason I suggest you put 1 into gae bulg is because without goon2, you won’t have any ranged skills so better get at least 1…
Gae bulg giving you a “fake” multi hit, it is the same as the double hit of Rim blow on staggered targets.
It is giving you an averall 15% physical dmaage upgrade.
As a dragoontank, i find gaebulg really valuable because it is upgrading all the damage types for you and your group (it is nice if you have another swordy and an archer).
It’s really weird cause Lancer’s skills are much more my style, but I like 1h spear mode in pvp. I’ll probably have to take goon2 and get rekt by magic and lancers lol the upside is I won’t have to use the whole keyboard for shortcuts.

Goon2 kit looks overall more complete to me for easy-mode/casual PvP.
I can actually just imagine it being called a “no skill scrub” or something for “spamming dethrone” after I rekt them in a duel.
So that’s +15% on top of the +10% attack and defense zones from the attribute if you went 5 points? That’s pretty decent. Obviously it’s no +100% melee damage buff from Dragoon2, but it’s still an additional modifier.
I totally see anyone calling goon2 a no-skill. But tbh, any swordie who does well in PvP needs skill. Timing, knowing other’s builds, skill range, damn fast hit-and-run and picking your battles well make a huge difference.
I actually fare pretty well against most magic users in TBH, but lancer has a good kit against them. The magic circles removal and the silence are beautifully cruel and that’s a big reason why I wanted Lancer. The unmount thing is pretty good too.
But having pelt and no restrain, as well as my preference of using a shield will make me go for goon2. My biggest concern is dethrone being nerfed in PvP.
@Biskee you sure the attributes work after the skill reset? Having more points for PB would make me too happy xD
I dont see dethrone being nerfed for PvP unless the TBL PvP charts are dominated by goon2. Which is pretty unlikely.
I haven’t really tried with Gae Bulg as I wasn’t able to get it to lv.5 before I resetted, but the KD on my lv.1 Bash certainly works.
As what @fatedhour said, I doubt Dethrone will get nerfed. It’s a good burst, but like any other burst, it still requires careful use as to not be instead detrimental to the Goon2 himself (e.g. accidentally hitting another player, summon, or pet w/ R7F on, etc.). If anything, the closest possible nerf it would get is a CD adjustment.
Off-topic, I got my PelHop to 50+ now. Man, I just realized how crazy good Swashbuckling is. Some QoL stuff right there. No wonder they’re the most (usually the only) wanted in parties among sword builds.
I wouldn’t mind the CD as much as range. That’s the beauty of dethrone.
SB is sick! I play solo, I think I’ll skip grinding parties for now (at least til lvl250).
I can’t think of a more efficient way to grind/farm bees than a cata with SB. Pull all monsters, kill with EW/DS/Rush then run to the other camp. You clear before they respawn.
Alemeth I was looking for a party which I couldn’t get in 2 hours, I grind at about half the speed solo than in PT, just SB>Rush and kill some 8~10 shrooms at a time. If respawn is low and rush is on CD, knowck them down and stabbing (might need a few extra hits and not as efficient but 50sec per wave is too slow so not waiting for rush every time).
Also, and I know I’ve said this too many times, the extra HP in TBL is awwwwwesome.

The attack and defend zone only give you 2% bonus, no matter how much people stand inside the zone
If the duration is longer, i might consider max it but for now i will reset it to lvl 1 after rank 8
for pvp purposes i did lvl 5 serpentine lvl 5 dragontooth lvl 4 dragon soar and lvl 1 gae
the reason for lvl 1 gae is just to proc restrain+gae you know kind of a ranged stun thing, wasn’t very excited about 2% attack, but the status ailment effect is pretty cool actually with rush.
Really? I’d always heard it was a 2% bonus per player. Just a straight up 2% buff doesn’t really make sense, what a weird attribute.
