What are your predictions for the closed beta test? Call it before it happens :P

Having played countless mmorpgs from closed to open beta testing phases, I can’t help but foresee certain occurrences that I just feel like I know are bound to happen.

As I’m sure, some of you probably have their own theories of what is going to happen when the closed beta testing phase starts (positive or negative) so why not share your thoughts?

As someone with a pessimistic outlook on things I’m looking forward to, i never seem to feel down when what I’m expecting to happen does happen, yet I’m overwhelmed with joy when they don’t happen.

As far as what I’m expecting to happen, they’re the following:

  1. The closed beta test is not going to start on the scheduled time.
  2. The servers are going to be very laggy.
  3. At some point the servers are going to crash.
  4. Hackers are going to ddos the servers.
  5. There’s going to be a lot of client sided issues and instability (crashing etc)
  6. A lot of people are going to whine.

I really hope I’m wrong about this, but if they do happen, I kinda expected it so I don’t care.

What about you guys? what do you think will happen?

3, 5 and 6 are pretty much impossible to avoid. The other ones, not so much. Keep in mind that the 5k limit makes it different from the korean CBT, so we may have less lag and more stability.

I hope you’re right, the 5k limit should mean less lag and such, and I’d definitely be surprised and happy if that was the case.

I can definitely live with just 3,5 and 6 happening.

due to lack of people searching for bugs and they just playing the game then… they suddenly give more 5000+ keys

mmh hmm, uh huh, thats right

I’ll take a shot at it.
Predictions:

  1. Forum gets spammed full so much that the site will error again

  2. Archers. Everywhere archers.

  3. Lots of barbs who will figure that the class they’ve been looking forward to is mediocre now

  4. Lots of game crashes, not necessarily server crashes

As long as the server doesn’t lag all the time so the testers can actually try the game, I don’t have a problem with any of the other issues you stated that might happen.

I highly doubt we are going to see DDOS attacks.

barbs?

People trying to aoe solo:

I’m sure the gameplay will be a bit sluggish if the servers can’t handle the amount of people. Lots of little things like text errors. And ping/latency issues with movement and skills hitting monsters.

That basically sums is up

Barbarians (20charmanders)

Oh my bad. Barbarians = Barbs.
Using abbreviations too often is a bad habit.

Surprise hidden class exposure, maybe? Slight language bugging, and ranting. It always happens in any beta, the ranting. People like to nitpick better than they do raving.

ty guys

  1. The closed beta test is not going to start on the scheduled time.
It’s a 5000 I’m sure it’s going to be fine and on time. There is not going to be unexpected traffic.
  2. The servers are going to be very laggy.
It’s a 5000 I’m sure it’s going to be fine and on time. There is not going to be unexpected traffic.
  3. At some point the servers are going to crash.
Yep they are guaranteed, korean servers went often down for maintenance…
  4. Hackers are going to ddos the servers.
Good luck they’re behind one of the most advanced server databases in the world.
  5. There’s going to be a lot of client sided issues and instability (crashing etc)
Yes but about as much as the Korean beta
  6. A lot of people are going to whine.

I really, really hope ToS doesn’t get hacked. The Alpha Phase Scandal of Ragnarok Online was the propagating reason why Kim Hakkyu quit Gravity. IMC Games won’t be able to take that kind of hit; then again, this is already the Beta Phase

1)Lag
2)Delayed start due to the amount of people trying to login at once
3)Crash
4)Whine Babies that doesn’t understand the concept of a first CBT and complain about the above issues
5)People giving more attention to grinding and stream, instead of finding bugs (Come on now, the fast we fix everything, earlier the game will be available)
6)Hype Train

I’ll give you the possibility that it may start late or something, but I wouldn’t expect anything drastic. That’s a more minor issue anyway.

Bugs/instability/crashes is part of our job to report,so that wouldn’t surprise me much either.

Whining will happen no matter what, from testers or other people on the forum. So that’s just stating the obvious.

We’ll see what happens. But they have data on the more likely bugs/errors from the KCBT runs,so they’re at least in some way prepared to help with that.

All I know is to log into it asap and I’m going to have tons of fun with exploring everything I can within the time limit I have which is till Friday :3

Do I win the first prediction already?

Sure you do haha,

I’m hoping there won’t be an announcement soon stating that the servers are going to go down since no one is able to connect :stuck_out_tongue:

In a few AAA games I remember they delayed the launch of the server by roughly 12 hours. Which was a bit over the top lol.
Usually delays of an hour or a few hours are normal tho.

I don’t really think it’s the number of people that’s keeping people from connecting. Otherwise the ones who logged in first would be in-game already.
Maybe their Server has issues getting response from Steam? That’s what I’d guess at least.
