Do you guys think there should be applications of boss cards to all four classes? If so, what kind? Also do you think if all classes could use cards, there would be cards for other monsters besides bosses?
Maybe as consumables or a one time equipment for 5 minutes? Specific bosses turn into different weapons ie. Bird turns into Bow, Minotaur turns into Hammer, Hand turns into shield etc. I dunno .-.
They already have a system for cards though so I dunno how much input they’re going to take on it.
Well, there’s Mimic class in the roster, so maybe it can use a boss’s ability based on the card (like Deathweaver’s laser spin)
Another option is to turn a card into another equipment bonus, similar to socketing gems or Alchemist’s awakening, but this time using a boss card to give special weapon proc (for example, have a chance to cause life-steal attack, effect is based on equipment’s level and stars on boss card), probably a Cleric route (for example, if Pardoner’s C3 skill is to purify a monster’s card and imbue its essence into an equipment)
Not sure about Swordsmand and Archer :v them being physical class makes it questionable on how they’ll utilize a monster’s effect…hmm…maybe Templar can use a boss card to give the guild members a passive bonus based on the card…Archer…hmm…gain knowledge of the equipped card’s weakness and does extra damage to that specific type of boss maybe?
As for cards of normal monster - don’t think it’s worth the time to implement/think of that many effects. At least that other old game had arts on its monster cards (which for some I actually collected FOR the picture)
yeah i think that would be a great way implement a versatile card system. I think it would improve the card game as well, bringing more players from other classes who are trying to improve they’re card stat, or maybe unlock a certain effect at a given level
but do you think there should be an incentive to revisit weaker mobs? such as a rare drop?
It’s already there .- . a prime example from CBT1 is Vubbe Fighter Gauntlet, a +10 Str glove (and +1 AoE and +2 P.Def) which is more or less unique in regard to that slot from what I’ve looked at tosbase.
Which means even lv 200 player might consider getting it. (Glove slot gives accuracy so it’s not like you’re sacrificing defense to do this, and anyone going Str/Dex will have plenty of accuracy anyway)
oh sweet. i’m glad then
From what I know, the Classes that use (or are used to be intended to use) Boss cards are:
- Sorcerer for its Summoning skill and Morph to an extent to cycle through the two boss cards slotted to your Grimoire) - Mind you, the Grimoire is UI only and not an equipment.
- Necromancer for what used to be its Summon Shogoth skill - It had been changed before so it summon a static mob regardless of slotted boss cards, don’t know if it had been reverted or not
- Wugushi for almost all of its Poison skills - Honestly, I don’t know whether they(IMC) scrapped it or not. I didn’t delve too much into Wugushi.
Only Sorcerer that can be pretty much confirmed to use Boss Cards for their skills - It’s their core class mechanic. I won’t put too much hope on other classes to use the Boss Cards honestly.
Only some specific class can use cards There are already gems and enhance system. I don’t know why you guys want this game to be like RO. I refer something new, not the same game with only improved visual effects.
The card system in ragnarok was unique. Its one of the only games to give a reason to stay in a location and grind, because you knew every monster gave a card that you may want in the future. Just like every game in existence(and now this one), do every quest as quickly as possible, leave the map and NEVER come back.
